4 Predictions Paulie: GMZ will take over the world maybe I got a message at my new Park Bench Paulie MySpace page. Why are you laughing? People still use MySpace, right? Anyway, the message came from Chickball562 and wanted to know why I m so negative and angry all the time. You complain more than George Costanza, Chickball562 wrote on my comments section. Listen you d be crusty, too, if you had to sleep on a concrete park bench. My back is killing me! Plus, I keep losing my kickball bets. But you know what? I m going to try to be more positive. In fact, here is a Haiku about first-place Kickin Ain t Easy: Leggo My Eggo such change you have undergone you no longer suck Thank you, I ll be here all week, two shows on Friday. In the meantime, if you want action, find me at my uncomfortable park bench as usual. Goldmemberz vs. Ballz deep GMZ that s how all the kids refer to Goldmemberz when they re texting actually have the inside track to the No. 1 seed for the playoffs thanks to that tie a couple weeks back between All Your Base... and Kickin Ballz and Takin Names. Relax, GMZ. Don t get all antsy. Think about baseball cards or the Jackie O wannabe selling makeup on QVC. It s times like these that I m reminded of The Wolf s classic line from Pulp Fiction: Well, let s not start sucking each other s d*@!$ quite yet. The Line: GMZ -53 Chico s Bail Bonds vs. Boom Goes the Dynamite I had my intern crunch some numbers in his down time, and his neat lil pie graph showed me these teams are pretty even statistically. There is a major difference in the strength of schedule, however. Chico s Bail Bonds has had a much more difficult road, which usually pays dividends as the season goes along. That s right, people. It s come to this. We re breaking down strength of schedule Park Bench Paulie statistics for kickball teams. I m tired of losing bets, OK?! The Line: Chico s Bail Bonds -1.5 We Got The Runs vs. H...H.. Hooligans When I was a kid, I had a hockey coach who was from Czechoslovakia. One of his favorite sayings went something to the effect of: If you have ice cream in one hand and shit in other, and you put together, all you have is shit. Of course, he said it with a cool accent, too. I m not sure what he meant exactly, since it was probably some old saying that never quite translated from Slovakian, or whatever was his native language. But for some reason, this game made me think of it. The Line: We Got the Runs -2 Kickin Ballz and Takin Names vs. I d Kick That The sign of a great kickball team is consistency. I bring this up because KBTN has enjoyed something of a renaissance this season, and yet they won a 2-0 squeaker against Das Boot last week. What gives? Oh wait, it was probably that pesky 6:45 p.m. start time. Yeah, I feel ya. I can t get away from my park bench that early, either. It s a 7:45 start this time, so that doesn t bode well for I d Kick That, which takes a big jump up in competition for this game. The Line: Kickin Ballz and Takin Names -4 Kickin Ain t Easy vs. 99 Problems But a Kick Ain t One Everybody s new favorite team, Kickin Ain t Easy, is still atop the Lucky League standings. What a great story of redemption, folks, like Rocky Balboa or Rob Lowe. Remember when Rob Lowe supposedly made an anti-gay comment and Hollywood set him up by putting a 16-year-old girl and a video camera in his Atlanta hotel room as revenge? No? Guess that s not what happened. Can t sue me for libel. I sense a Rob Lowe-like fall for KAE this week. But my Spidey Sense has been off, so maybe they ll show some mettle and win a close one. The Line: 99 Problems +3.5 Das Boot vs. Honey Badgers Despite the lackluster records, this has the potential to be one of the week s better games. Both teams are evenly matched (translation: middle of the pack) and are playing for pride (translation: they aren t going to be one of the better seeds for the playoffs and they ll be lucky to finish above.500). I know, I know. I m soooo mean. But, hey, somebody has to toughen up the next generation. It s rough out there. We live in a world where doctors drug our pop stars and people write libelous conspiracy theories about Rob Lowe just for cheap giggles. The Line: Over 11 All Your Base Are Belong to Us vs. THE Donkey Show Um, yeah. I tried to come up with something interesting here and failed. Miserably. Fact is, All Your Base... are winning this game. No snarky comment from me will change that, which is actually kind of annoying. Not quite women-on-vh1 s-tough Love annoying, but annoying nonetheless. The Line: All Your Base -7.5 Last week: 3-4 Season record: 9-13

5 Around the League Bring Your Clothes This season, NV Lucky will be sponsoring Family and Child Treatment of Southern Nevada. The group is dedicated to helping children, adults and families overcome abuse, neglect and violence by providing education, prevention and treatment. There will be a clothing drive to help those who don t have warm clothes to wear this winter. It s a perfect time to clean out your closets and it can help those in need stay warm. Adult and children s clothes are welcome. The clothing drive will last all season, so bring your clothes up to the fields any Wednesday. They can be dropped off between Fields One and Four for collection. Mark Your Calendars Plenty of fun activities are coming up for the fall season. You won t want to miss out on these: Nov. 23: Off for Thanksgiving Nov. 27: Charity night at Buffalo Wild Wings Nov. 30: Theme Night: Ugly Sweater Party. The end-of-season party will be from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Dec. 3 at Gameworks, 3785 Las Vegas Blvd. South. There will be four kegs, well drinks and three hours of arcade game play. Guests are welcome, but it ll be $10 a person for them. A Lucky party is always a blast, and this one will be no different! See you there!
