4 Predictions Park Bench Paulie falls short last week, tries again I hitchhiked to San Francisco last weekend. Man, the homeless folks in the city are a trip. I saw one lady near the corner of Van Ness and Jackson with makeup all over her face who kept asking me for a quarter. I told her, Look at me, honey. Do I look like I got a quarter? You got a dolla then? she asked. We had sex. In the Tenderloin. Get yo mind out of the gutter. It s an area of San Francisco. Look it up! I lost my ass betting on the games at The Breeze last week. Some guy with a gift-wrapped box on his junk took me for a couple hundo. But I got a loan from the Bushman and the silver robot guys near Pier 39 on my trip to SF, so we can roll again this week. Find me at my park bench if you want action. Blue Ballers vs. Lot Lizards and the Dirt Squirrels: What I want to know is, who did Blue Ballers piss off in the league office? Check out their schedule so far. Week 1 they played the unbeaten pink team (All Your Base Are Belong To Us), then fall tournament champ Let s Get Weird and finally, perennial contender Goldmemberz. That s a combined record of for Blue Ballers opponents. Dayuuuum! Neither Blue Ballers or Lot Lizards and the Dirt Squirrels has won a game, but that s pretty much where the similarities end. LLDS screwed my two-team parlay last week when it tied winless YCF Dynasty and Blue Ballers is probably going to take out three weeks of frustration, so I m predicting a blowout this week. The Line: Blue Ballers -12 Tickle My Kickballs vs. Balls En Fuego I watched Balls En Fuego last week from my park bench. Looked pretty solid for the last four innings. First inning, ummm, not so much. The outfielders got burned on a couple deep kicks early, but after that, Balls En Park Bench Paulie Fuego adjusted and put its left fielder on the other field, the sign of a well-coached team. Tickle My Kickballs has shown it can score (12 runs in Week 2) and it has shown it can play defense (2 runs allowed last week). But it hasn t shown it can win a game. Ouch. Maybe this is the week, since this contest should be a tight one. The Line: Balls En Fuego -1.5 Balls of Steal vs. Chico s Bail Bonds I took a quick peek at the league standings on the homeless shelter s computer and saw Chico s Bail Bonds is still on top. I don t get it. Didn t that team used to suck when they were Kicks and Giggles? Like, royally suck? This must be the beginning of the Steroid Era in WAKA. It s the only explanation. How else does a team that lost almost 30 straight games suddenly win five in a row unless it recruited a bunch of steroidaddicted criminals from CCDC? Balls of Steal needed a couple weeks to get its feet wet, but appears to have figured it out now. Word around The Breeze is that Chico s is starting to get a little cocky, too. I smell an upset... and a drug test. The Line: Balls of Steal +4.5 Let s Get Weird vs. Alcoballics Let s Get Weird took it on the chin last week against All Your Base Are Belong To Us. Rumor has it that was the team s worst loss ever, but I couldn t access the Lucky League record book so there s no way to confirm it. Anybody know? Alcoballics forfeited last week and has struggled so far this season. Something tells me Let s Get Weird can play Words with Friends on the phone between innings and still come out on in this game. Just sayin... The Line: Let s Get Weird -8 Smurf Ballers vs. SinCity Ballerz This really has been a bizarro season so far. Chico s Bail Bonds is in first place, Blue Ballers are winless and SinCity Ballerz have been pretty mediocre so far. What the hell? Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria! Smurf Ballers are clearly the most improved team since the first week of the season and it s all about the defense. In sweeping a doubleheader last week against Tickle My Kickballs and Kick It and Quit It, Smurf Ballers didn t allow a run and are giving up an average of just 2 runs a game. De-fense! Reminds me of that Michael Douglas movie, Falling Down. The Line: Under 7 runs Goldmemberz vs. Richard in a Box When I played high school football, there was always a team in the playoffs with an undefeated record because they played against crap schools in a crap league. They d get a high seed and lose to a team with a 5-5 record that played in a really tough league. Which brings us to Richard in a Box. The Dicks have been pretty good so far, winning all four of their games. In pretty convincing fashion, no less. While their game against Sin City Ballerz was a close one, Goldmemberz is the first real test for Richard in a Box. Goldmemberz is also undefeated and its name reminds me of that wrestler Goldust, who was Dusty Rhodes kid. The American Dream ruled. The Line: Goldmemberz -3.5 Season Record: 0-5-1

7 Around the League Don t Miss Out on Shuck s Sure, it s a good time on the field, but a lot of the real fun happens at Shuck s! Be sure to head that way after the games for flip cup, beer pong and food and drink specials. Shuck s is located at 9388 W. Flamingo Road. From the fields, turn left on Durango and right on Flamingo. Shuck s is a little ways down on the righthand side. It s near a Smith s. YCF Dynasty poses on the field for a picture on July 20. Buffalo Wild Wings fundraiser Be sure to go to Buffalo Wild Wings, 7345 S. Durango Drive, on Aug. 5 for a great cause! NV Lucky will invade BW3 to help raise money for this season s charity, Help Heal Evie. Just pick up a ticket at the fields and once you arrive at Buffalo Wild Wings, let them know you are with WAKA.
