Toot it and Boot it has played well this season and have turned some heads in doing so. This is a young new talent team who seems to stay focus and follow the game plan every week. It shows in their stats winning every week by an avg. of 13 runs. The defense is center around the athletic 3rd basemen (Justin) who will have to make some big plays to give Toot it and Boot it a chance. Toot it and Boot it has a lot going for them except big game experience. Mr. Hankey s has won championship as well as played in Vegas for Founders Cup. The biggest question mark is can Toot it and Boot it handle the pitching of LARS? If Toot it and Boot it can kick well against the Hankey s their speed gives them a chance to pull off the upset. Nags prediction: Hankey s 8 Toot it and Boot it 4 MARK YOUR CALENDARS Sunday, August 5th, a.m. and 1 p.m.* WAKA and BBBS are teaming up for a kickball game/clinic for the Bigs and their Littles as well as Littles waiting to be matched. Bring your family out for a good game of kickball and help these folks see what Kickball is all about! Food and refreshments will be provided (no alcohol during the event). We are going to aim for the Highland fields* (Sunday League s fields) as the event location. As usual, details will be forthcoming as they are finalized. If you have questions, or would like to let us know you are coming, us at nmwakagives@gmail.com. * Time and location subject to change Game Recap: Howie s Heavers vs. Grass Stains A great match up in week 4 provided two undefeated teams going at each other like school boy s hopped up on Mountain Dew. The Grass Stains came out of the gate with a furry of run s and put Howie s on the ropes. Executing their game plan with precision kicking the Grass Stains was able to score 7 runs in the first. Howie s were able to relax after Grass Stains come out to an early lead scoring 4 runs in the first to make the score 7-4 Grass Stains. But Howie s were just getting started; they continue to run their offense with great bunting and kicking putting pressure on the Grass Stains. Howie s scored a total of 15 runs which the Grass Stains just couldn t keep up. Both teams played well. 7 The Balled and Beautiful Get to know... How did you come up with your team name? And color? We re a bunch of old married couples (plus 5 single people) and all the guys are bald? Or maybe it s just from the internet Pretty sure we were just assigned light blue as our color. Does your team have a go to chant? Motto? Mascot? We got the runs! Give me two words that best describe your team. Corny and literal or maybe hot mess! How did your team do tonight? Win or Lose? Final score? We lost with grace. We kept our opponent under 20 points though! The final score was 13 to 5. Every game is an improvement! Who was your MVP of the night? Why? Sarah was our female MVP due to her awesome kicks that were hard and on the ground every time. Mackey was our male MVP with some amazing catches in the outfield. What was the highlight of tonight s game? Probably Mackey s catches in the outfield. Or when I got knocked out at first, but with all those jello shots I didn t feel a thing! What is your favorite position to play? Why? Definitely first base, it s the position I played in softball in college. What is your favorite thing about WAKA? What are you most looking forward to this season? So far I really like all the social stuff going to the bar and reconnecting with old friends while making new ones. 8 Founders Cup 2012 The 2012 Founders Cup World Kickball Championship will be held in October 5-7, 2012 in Las Vegas! There will be over $20,000 in prizes throughout the weekend! Be sure to mark your calendars and save that weekend! It s time to embrace those dreams of being a World Kickball Champion! Champion and Runner-Up of Spring Season s League Tournament will be eligible to receive an invitation to the Founders Cup World Kickball Championship in Las Vegas. The year of eligibility is determined by the completion date of the League Tournament, according to the World Championship Guidelines. Eligible teams are not guaranteed to receive invitations. All players are also eligible to participate in the Kickball Games social tournament. Way to go DAS BOOT!!!! They just kicked everyone s ass this week and put in a $240 donation! And congrats to Sister Mary Catherine s School for Girls for donating the most using the credit card system! Lots of good money going the way of Big Brother Big Sisters! We are almost half way to the league goal of $3000!!! Remember to get your money in if you want it to be counted. As always, credit/debit card donations will always be accepted at the fields (just find Eric Plegge, red WAKA shirt, Uncle Howie s). There will also be folks walking around/ hanging out at the bar that will be looking for donations as well.
