1 WAKA Space City Summer 2011 GMOT Ghost Man On Third All the news that s fit to kick! Playoffs Games Aug 18th WHAT A SEASON!!! What can we say? It was a hot one, but a damn good one! Jumping from 6 teams to 11 was quite a change, but for those of us who have played in the past is was surely a welcome one! There were a lot more friends to make and quite a few more butts to kick. We are certainly looking forward to the fall season and hopefully some nice fall weather. So pick up some Oktoberfest brews, rally the team, and get signed up for the fall season ASAP! We have to thank David for all of his efforts in running the Space City League this season. Oh and of course all of the free beer we get during the parties! We would also like to thank Dave L. for helping us with some of the pictures. Your lens is bigger than ours and you surely know how to use it! A warning to all of the teams that will be returning for the fall season: Last season's Kickball AND Flip cup champions will be back for more this fall. We have it on good authority that the team formerly known as the Furry Balls will be making their triumphant return as the "More Furrier Balls." We will see if they have been practicing over the summer or just sucking up the A/C dreaming of their past glory. Please make sure everyone on your roster is registered. There will be zero tolerance for unregistered players!

3 Captain s Corner Ragin Homers Wait. Holy sh*t. What happened? We blacked out. The worst part is, this isn t the first time this has happened to the Ragin Homers. Only last time, our trophy was an ugly scar and a bathtub full of ice instead of doubling our wins on the season and a shiny, spraypainted, markered, glorious trophy that wives everywhere would love to have adorn their mantle. That s right. All the captains that came up to me with that bewildered How in the hell did you ragtag group of downies win two games in the playoffs look in your eyes at t-bones are right. We have no idea how we done it. But we did it. The homers won as many games in one night as we had won all season long. I put the benefit squarely on the cycle of steroids I secretly dumped into each pitcher of shame all season long. We d like to give a shout out to the Texas Rangers, who put up a valiant effort in a 5th inning comeback. The Homers thought for sure we had, yet again, snatched defeat from the jaws of victory as we watched a 4 run lead disintegrate. But no, we persevered. We dug deep in the bottom of the fifth, and dug our toes into the ground, and got really, really, really lucky. Again. It seems we finally made it through a game without a monumental screw up, and the kickball gods awarded us in kind with a 5-4 nailbiter to put us 1-1 against the Rangers. (The week before we put on a clinic of letting Ranger s balls go over our heads.anyone? anyone?). Next up, the freshly rested Waka like it s hot. By this time the Homers were good and lubricated and we had tunnel vision from our victory. No one remembers much of this game, but we somehow won. Sound the alarms, hide yo wife, hide yo kids, the Homers are gonna party. We were flying high, to be sure. Then we saw Daj Maballs or hot pitches you re both dark blue and it s hard to tell with jello shots and we knew we d been slightly out-kickballed. And we thought glowsticks were cool, how wrong we were. (editors note: not wrong, read: awesome). We knew we had to bunker down and really bring it at T-bones. What we didn t know that it translated into a total lack of gracious wining and/or shame/discretion in our behavior. Blame the steroids, blame the $5 pitchers, blame daddy issues but the Homers just happen to love putting on jukebox clinics with BSB and TK. Special credit goes to those of you that sing along instead of casting dirty stares of jealous contempt as we spend way too much money trumping good, popular songs for our terrible, terribly awesome Toby Keith and company. It s a little known fact that flipping cups increases by over 30% while Enrique Iglesias tells you how much he can t escape pretty much anything. This was etched into stone as the Homers SWEPT the flip cup tourney on the night, propelling their total wins to the tippy top and claiming that lovely trophy. We know a lot of people probably wanted to see the trophy, maybe even touch it to glean it s awesome, awesome power, but we just couldn t allow it. And by we, I mean Golumben. Word in the Homer s inner circle is it made it all the way to his bedroom, from which nothing has ever returned. Regardless, the Homers came, saw, blacked out, forgot, shamed themselves, conquered, sang, vommed, then gloated their way through the night. It was definitely Thursday to remember. 4 Captain s Corner WAKA Texas Rangers The Rangers had a sure win against the Rangin' Homers in the Playoffs last week. We thought we had them all figured out and we could just blow them away after a few easy 3 and outs. Well that just wasn't the case. The Rangers got stuck in a rut early on and things weren't looking so good, but alas the Rangers pulled a late scoring run out of our bag of tricks and it looked as if we might take this one in 5th. Well the Ragin' Homers open hand bitch slapped us Lamar Latrell style with their "Limp Ankled" kicking style ( AKA bunting!!) and in the end and took us out for the season. Today (Tuesday), the Rangers had our weekly conference call with Sir Chuck (1-800-RND- HAUS if you dare to try the number. WARNING: Chuck does not press 1 for English. He presses 1 for pain!). We informed our fearless leader of what happened last week and I think we all know the result. Colorado's worst Earthquake in 40 years hit first, then DC gets hit by a 5.9 rumbler, and just to make sure he gets his point across, we have what looks like a Cat 3 Irene that is going to F-up the east cost of the US. We asked Chuck if he could help us out with the Texas drought and the 30+ days of 100 deg heat and he simply said, "No! Suffer for being bitches!" It is likely that the only thing that has spared the Ranger's life is our promise that we will be back next season, we will show no mercy, and we promised Chuck we would never win by bunting! Always go down swinging! Those members of the team that have been out with injuries will continue to be beaten until they get better! That means you Kimchi, Hottie McHotterson, and Kimbo Slice!!

6 FLIP CUP THE OFFICIAL DRINKING GAME OF KICKBALL 1, 2, 3, FLIP! It was the last week all of the teams were going to be together and everyone was warned of the epic clash of the Flip Cup titans! You were told to ask mom and dad to stay out late so you could fight for eternal Flip Cup glory. Grass Kickers and the Toe Jammers just can t seem to stay out past curfew and had to forfeit their chances without even flipping a single cup. Weak Sauce guys!!! Lets move on the the big boys (and girls) who came to play! On the right side of the bracket we had the Hot Pitches go toe-to-toe against the Ragin Homers. This 2 out of 3 match could not have been any closer. The anchors actually tied in the deciding flip. Neither Judge could pick the winner, so you know what that means! FLIP OFF!! The Flip Off saw the Ragin Homers eek out the win and have to sit and wait for their finals opponent. The left side of the bracket saw the obvious favorites and point leader the ObjectionaBalls take on WAKA Like It s Hot. The last time these two teams met, WAKA walked all over the ObjectionaBalls. This time the ObjectionaBalls were out for blood and quickly dispatched of WAKA and sauntered into the finals. The ObjectionaBalls were outmatched and outgunned by the Ragin Homers.
