Tiger Dave also attracted his team of apprentices and it was lovely to have the opportunity to meet in the staffroom for refreshments and camaraderie afterwards. Thanks and welcome to Mitchel Martin who helped out that afternoon and who has now joined our school community. He brings with him a special talent of being an accomplished router and Tiger Dave already has co-opted him to carve the top of the giant Magic Faraway Tree that is being prepared for our exciting new Reading Pod. A belated thank you to Jason Kraft for sourcing the crushed rock that the P-2s spread under the synthetic grass. The creation of the Pod is nearing completion and the P-2 children are very excited to see the final product of the project they have been working on all term. On Monday 25 th at 3pm we will have the official opening in place of the assembly that will not occur until the Friday 29 th at 2.15 pm to celebrate the last day of term. OSHCare We are in the process of regaining our After School Hours Program and have some exciting new offerings available. After listening to the children, we will be providing an educational program that is fun and engaging. Some of the activities will be: Cooking, Construction, Exploring, Gardening, Orienteering and Scavenger Hunts.

2 2 The Connection PRINCIPAL S REPORT CONT. Please make contact with the office to find out the rebates that you are eligible for. The exact date has not been locked in but should be finalised this week. We will send a Flexibuzz this week and enrolment forms will be available at the office. Breakfast Club will continue as it has been operating and we thank Barb Jones, Jeanette and Chris Clifton for always coming in early to provide breakfast in a warm and caring environment. PRODUCTION thanks to Whitehorse Showtime, we have been able to borrow costumes for the production. In a short while we will get a letter out letting you know what else your child will need. We will try to make it easy and we will have a need of boots and jeans and lots of chequered shirts and long country looking skirts and blouses. We are still looking for assistance with many aspects of the production so please let us know if you can assist. HUGE thanks go to our dear friend and supporter Martin Pascal-Murray who has been coming in each week to assist the children to learn the songs. We are in desperate need of portable clothes racks for the production clothes. Please notify the office if you are able to lend us any racks until after the production. Phillippa Adgemis Principal REMINDER The Breakfast Club hours are 8:15am to 8:45am unless prior arrangements have been made with Barb Jones. Any students arriving after 8:45am will find the door locked and unable to access breakfast. Far too many students are arriving late wanting breakfast and are therefore late for class. This is not ideal and is impacting on their learning. Please make sure your child has breakfast at home if you are unable to get them to school by 8:45am to attend Breakfast Club.

12 12 The Connection Aboriginal Sports Carnival On the 22/05/2018 Adrian, Charlotte, Nathan and Zoe all went to an Aboriginal Sports Carnival. While people were arriving all the high schools and colleges were getting all warmed up for the sport games. Once everybody arrived we all stopped doing what we were doing so we could go to the smoking ceremony. There was lots of treats at the treat stall. Kazz was so nice to buy us a little bag of M&M s and a hot chocolate each. After the smoking ceremony all the games began. The games were football, netball and basketball. Before each game everybody went undercover and made a circle, then there was heaps of music and everybody started to sing and dance. The bravest people went in the circle to sing and dance. There was also a free sausage sizzle so everyone could have a free sausage, or two. There was also onion and sauce to put on the sausages. While the games were on all the primary schools went up on a hill and played heaps of fun games. We all had lots of fun. Nathan On the 22 /05/2018 Nathan, Adrian, Charlotte, Zoe, Tiarni and Gemma all went to a sports carnival and we got skittles and Mentos. We had a sausage sizzle; Nathan and I had 2 sausages each. Nathan and I went to a smoking ceremony. Kazz was nice to buy us M&Ms and a hot chocolate each. I went to play basketball down near the oval. It was Nathan s birthday so Zoe, Charlotte Gemma Tiarni and I got a face paint of Aboriginal art dots on our face. I kicked the football. The high school students played basketball. While the games were playing all of the primary schools played games like hurdles, throwing beanbags, tennis balls, and vortexes in the hula hoop. It was fun and Nathan won. Written by Adi
