1 UPPER BEACONSFIELD PONY CLUB NEWSLETTER AUGUST 2013 DC REPOR T We do hope you all had a good day at the last rally weren t we lucky with the weather, I must say Paul Owens of HorseVetDentist s presentation was a revelation wasn t it. Not sure if you all got to look into that mares mouth but she certainly had a good set of grinders! It would be great if we can support those who have supported us so give it some consideration. Thanks again to our group of instructors I think everybody got a lot out of it, I did get quite a scare when at 6.45am Sunday morning I got a text from one instructor cancelling due to sick little ones but thanks to Karen and her little black book we got the services of Jess Robinson for the day and it was great to hear some of the laughs coming out of that group when they were doing some games. As you would all be aware this rally we are going to Adam Wootten s indoor arena at Yarra Junction. The day will consist of each group having one out door flat lesson with Vanessa Canning and one indoor jumping lesson with Adam. Because we have 5 groups it means that we will be starting a little earlier at 9.30am and finishing a bit later at 3.30pm. But the good news is that you won t all need to be there all day, for those who start early you can come do your lessons have lunch and then head home, while others who are riding PM can come for lunch and then ride in the afternoon. See the rally plan and groups below to work out how this best suits you. Because we are off site catering will be basic, a sausage in bread and a drink will be $2 feel free to bring your own picnic lunch if you are not a sausage eater! With the horse float on it s an hours drive from Upper Beaconsfield to Adam s, the address and a locality map is shown below. We highly recommend getting on the Warburton Hwy at Woori Yallock and following this into Yarra Junction where you turn right into the Yarra Junction-Noojee Road at the only set of lights there! Milners Road is down there past the saw mill on the right hand side. The roads are winding so allow plenty of time to get there (1 hr should do it) and take care around those bends our four legged friends find it difficult if we go too fast around them when floating! For those riders intending on sitting their C certificates in September could you please bring your completed C books on Sunday, so we can go through them. We will need to collect these & the $50 entry fee so that we can send the entry form off to our zone examining secretary. If you have any questions please contact me. 9 MEMBERS PAGE SPECIAL NOTICE! We are pleased to inform you that Upper Beaconsfield Pony club have been successful in our application for a capital grant with the Cardinia Shire Council. A big thank you to the past committee members responsible for applying for this grant. This much needed grant will enable our club to improve our grounds with 15 new yards and long needed maintenance and improvements to our cross country course! Stay tuned to see how you can help. Visiting Dentist Dr Paul Owens Congratulations to Brooke and Chloe Lever who were the winners of a free dental at our July rally! Brooke and Chloe were the closest to estimating the weight of one of the demo horses and win a free horse dental perfomed by Dr Paul Owens.
