1 UPPER BEACONSFIELD PONY CLUB NEWSLETTER DC REPOR T February 2014 So haven t we been having some horribly hot weather of recent. Because of this and to avoid the worst of the heat we have decided to make our February rally a twilight one, to be held on the Saturday the 15 th of February. Starting with a 4.30 pm gear check followed by two ridden sessions from 5 to 6pm & the last session 6 to 7pm. Following this we are ordering pizza at a cost of $5 per person & those of you who want to have a sleep over are welcome to do so, but just remember that if you are a junior rider you will need a parent or guardian to sleepover too! I think bacon & eggs are planned for the Sunday morning and then don t forget the Upper Beaconsfield Village festival will be on! Since we only have 2 sessions for the rally all groups will be riding both this is to ensure that it will qualify as a rally. Despite the heat it s great to hear that many of our members have been out & about. Of particular note I hear that Clarissa Bentley -Bell & Jessica & Hannah Sykes have all won zone awards, so well done girls. Also coming up is the Berwick show. There is a pony club ring on the Sunday & of course Ellena Boura will be there representing our club in the Evan Henry Memorial Competition. This is a prestigious event with entries being judged on all ridden disciplines of Pony Club. It would be great for as many as can to be there to support & cheer Ellie on. 4 RALLY INFO Keep the raffle going. There are plenty more ckets available. RAFFLE Great prizes donated by Lokaway and displayed at the Upper Beaconsfield General Store (Thrifty -Link). Books of 10 tickets have now been sent to each family to sell, if you require more please contact Amanda Dunstan. The draw will take place on 8 March at our final SJ Series event and all proceeds will benefit UBPC. C Certificate There will be two opportunities to sit your C Certificate Exam in You need to be nominated through the pony club to sit this exam so please see Sven if you would like to be included. The cost is around $50 and the dates are Saturday April 5 and Saturday September 6. You will need to have your C Certificate book completed prior to the date you wish to sit the test and signed off by Sven. The location will be advised closer to the date. If you are over 14 and wish to ride at State level you are required to have this certificate. If the house coloured barrels are not out can you please go to the area where you gear checked for the November rally. It seemed much more orderly and a lot safer than everyone merging into one group. 7 RALLY INFO The AGM is being held at our April rally. If you would like to be involved in the future of your child at PC think about nominating for a position on the committee. CONT. For anyone planning to attend there may be a possibility of selling some extra raffle tickets at the festival as there may be a stall available for use. The pony club grounds were visited on the 31st of January by several delegates of the Cardinia Shire Council, including the Deputy Mayor, Brett Owen. They were all very impressed with our club facilities and the standard of our club so a reminder to all members to keep up the good work and pitch in to ensure our club remains this way! 8

9 Canteen Roster Twilight rally menu For anyone wishing to camp on 15th we are planning on ordering pizza for tea, (sharing the cost). We will have cereal and bacon and egg available for breakfast.
