3 A WORD FROM THE PRESIDENT Hello, November 2017 We are coming up on the end of the year quickly. If you have not been to a meeting lately then now is the time to come out and visit everyone and put in your vote for the upcoming Board and Officers. A few months ago, Paul Lazor brought to the monthly meeting a SJCC banner he had made that retracted up in to a canister. It was displayed at the front of the meeting for all to see. It has gone missing and we are asking for your help to find it. If you have seen it, please contact me and let me know. The following are current nominations for the upcoming 2018 year. The vote will be at the November General Meeting. 15 OCTOBER RUNS Wow! October and Fall got off to a great start on October s first Saturday, thanks to the planning of Duane Lee and Carl Carrington in the Run to the Store in Kenney. Just look at the fall colors above in the twenty vettes parked in front of the Kenney Store! Beautiful. Turned a lot of heads as the highway traffic passed through. We enjoyed good roads, good food, and good companionship. Originally a general mercantile store, now turned restaurant it has been featured in the Texas Bucket List. So I can scratch that one off my list 73 more to go. The following Saturday s trip to Teague s Tavern (below) in Round Top, population 90, was just as exciting. Once again, good roads, good food, and good companionship. We ate on the second floor, overlooking Henkel Square and Bob & Sandy Johnson s Pace car below. Thanks to Marc & Marcia Smith for a great time. After visiting a few shops, we found that Mr. Royer now has--just a block from his famed Café--a separate pie shop Royer s Pie Haven below, featuring the lovely and highly talented, Mrs Grout. 21 Updates from Corvetteracing.com Duane Lee Chevrolet Earns Second Consecutive IMSA GT Le Mans Manufacturer Title Corvette Racing capped its championship-winning season Saturday with a runner-up finish at Road Atlanta s Petit Le Mans for Antonio Garcia, Jan Magnussen and Mike Rockenfeller in the No. 3 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R. It put a Bowtie on a day that saw Corvette Racing and Chevrolet sweep the GT Le Mans (GTLM) Manufacturer, Driver and Team titles in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The second place finish in the 10hour Petit Le Mans for the No. 3 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R gave Chevrolet its 12th GT Manufacturer title dating back to the 2001 American Le Mans Series season. In the GT Le Mans (GTLM) class, Chevrolet and Corvette Racing outlasted intense competition to bring home all three class championships. In what many consider to be the closest GT racing in the world, the No. 3 Corvette C7.R duo of Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen recorded a top-five finish in every race this season, including three victories. These championships were the second consecutive for the manufacturer and team. Chevrolet and Corvette Racing won four times in 2017 with the Chevrolet Corvette C7.R, powered by a 5.5liter Chevrolet small block V8. Drivers Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen also claimed the GTLM Driver Championship, and the No. 3 Corvette won the GTLM Team title. 21
