1 HUGUELY HAPPENINGS JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2016 GARRY REID, III Nina and Garry Reid, Jr., are proud to announce that their son, Garry, III, was accepted into Western Middle School for the Arts (WMSFA), a district-wide Visual and Performance Arts Magnet School, located in Louisville, Kentucky, to start in the fall. After applying and auditioning, Garry, III, was selected to major in vocal music. Also, the Reids are building their family YouTube channel and really need family support in big numbers!! If you haven t already done so, please make sure to check out their family YouTube channel, TheReidBunch!, at and subscribe (free of charge) in order to share their family videos through social media!! (Lucian Huguely Branch) CAILYN BENTON 2016 has gotten off to a great start for Roxanne and Lester Benton s daughter, Cailyn. Currently a seventh grader at West Middle School in Rochester Hills, Michigan, she is excelling in her classes and is enjoying the challenges of her Advanced Pre-Algebra class. In January, she achieved straight A s on her First Semester Report Card. Congratulations!!! In February, Cailyn s hard work and dedication in competing against 30 girls for one of 18 coveted spots on her middle school volleyball team also earned her a place on the team as January/February

(Everee Huguely Branch) J A N E E M ORTON Since joining the Lousada Aca demia women s basketball club in Portugal last September, Ja nee Morton, Janet s youngest daughter, has made all of us proud with her starting point-guard play. With five games remaining in the 21-game regular season, Ja nee s team is currently in 6th place out of 12 teams with a 7-9 win-loss record. The top eight teams proceed to the playoffs. Ja nee, who sports No. 23 on the court, is still having great year, averaging 12.3 points, 1.5 assists, and 6.0 rebounds per game, despite battling minor knee and ankle injuries. She s definitely one of her team s leaders. When Ja nee is away from the court, she s had the chance to observe the true beauty and culture of Portugal, as well as share with Janet many beatific photos that are breathtaking. What a great opportunity!!! Janet is very proud of her baby and asks that you pray for Ja nee s continued success, health, and safety. You Go, Girl! (Everee Huguely Branch) January/February

3 6 2 ND H UGUELY F AMILY R EUNION The Detroit Host Committee has been working very hard to plan an enjoyable and fun-filled weekend. Detroit is on the move and our downtown area is booming with new sites to see! We plan to have a Throw Down in Motown with a Throw Down Picnic, a Throw Down White Party, and Throw Down Tours. Many of our planned activities have been based on the survey results from last year s reunion. Below outlines the details of this year s reunion: Hotel Information Sheraton Detroit Metro Airport, 8000 Merriman Road, Romulus, Michigan 48174, (734) is located minutes away from Detroit Metro Airport. Welcome/Registration at the Hotel o A Taste of the D with Painting with a Twist featuring some of your host committee s favorite dishes. Come and enjoy your family members and feast on some delicious food in the hospitality suite. o **The Twist will bring out your inner artist, while relaxing with your favorite wine/sparkling juice to create, your own work of art that you will take home at the end of the evening. All supplies will be provided and there is a fee for this part of the evening. There will be two times available for this event, 6:00 P.M. and 7:30 P.M. A fee for this part of the evening is $5. For the younger Huguelys (up to 18 years old) **Sky Zone is the world s first indoor trampoline park. They are the inventors of fun fitness and the makers of trampolines as far as the eye can see. Sky Zone will give you one of the greatest workouts ever combined with awesome, healthy fun. They ve been voted the number one out of the box workout and the best party ever. 4 bouncing, flipping, and landing in a pit filled with 10,000 foam cubes. Minimum of 15 people are required to obtain the group rate. The costs are $13 for 60 minutes or $10 for 30 minutes, and these include the Sky Zone socks. For the older Huguelys (18 years old and up) 2016 Canton Color Jazz series is a free event in neighboring Canton, Michigan. This event has features local and/or worldrenowned Smooth Jazz artist such as Alexader Zonjic, Tim Bowman, and Randy Scott. As our reunion gets closer, we will update you on the artists that will be featured this summer. This is an outdoor event so please bring your lawn chair. Also, there are many weekend nightspots and casinos that are accessible by car or bus. Saturday 8/13/16 9:00 A.M. Touring in D 12:00 Noon 5:00 P.M. The Throw Down Family Picnic at Lower Huron Park. o Get ready for some family fun!! We have games, prizes and raffles. o Menu: Hot dogs, Hamburgers, Bar-Q Chicken, baked beans, coleslaw, fruit salad, dessert, and beverages. o Lower Huron Park features basketball courts, playground, Turtle Cove (outdoor water park extra fee to enter), golf, and volleyball. There is a $10 fee to enter the park. 8:00 P.M. The White Party. Come dressed in your all white attire and be ready to dance the night away! Featuring DJ Ricky Love and a few other surprises in store for the night. There will be a cash bar and hors devours. Children ages 6-12 will have a kiddie party in the hospitality suite. Elections for President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Assistant Secretary will be conducted during meeting.
