Encourage students to set goals and give it their best each day throughout the year. I will be visiting the Northside Primary and Southside Elementary campuses next week to share information for Palestine ISD s new five year Strategic Plan, Vision I will be at Northside Primary on Tuesday, September 22 nd at 5:30 pm in the cafeteria and at Southside Elementary on Thursday, September 24 th at 5:30 pm in the cafeteria. Everyone is invited to attend and share ideas that would benefit the district and students. I encourage everyone to participate in Palestine ISD s Vision 2020 survey that will provide input to guide the district through The survey is available on the district s website, until Friday, October 2, Come all Wildcats in your maroon and white to the 8 th Annual Homecoming Parade, Community Pep Rally, and Tailgate Party! Homecoming events will begin on Monday, September 21 st, with a Parade at 6 pm. Parade line up will begin at 5:40 pm in the PHS parking lot area next to the tennis courts. A Pep Rally will follow the Parade at about 6:25 pm at Wildcat Stadium. There will be lots of fun booths at the Tailgate Party beginning at 6:45 pm at the Wildcat Baseball field including face & hair painting, a football throw, water balloon toss, super slide, Wildcat Spin the Wheel, minion bowling, and much more. The Athletic Booster Club will be serving Hamburger and Hot Dog meals for $5.00. You won t want to miss this fun event! Homecoming Football game events will take place on Friday, September 25 th, beginning with the announcement of the Homecoming King and Queen at 7:00 pm. The Wildcats will play the Kaufman Lions at 7:30 pm. Welcome home to the PHS Class of Come out and enjoy Homecoming events and support the Wildcat Football Team, Band, Cheerleaders, and the Kik-Kat Drill Team. Go Wildcats!

2 Go Wildcats Palestine Athletics Robby Clark: Athletic Director * FOOTBALL * Our Palestine Wildcats will compete Friday night against the Paris Wildcats in Longview at 7:30 PM. The JV Wildcats lost a tough battle, 25-8, to the Bullard Panthers. The offensive players of the game were Austin Thompson and Caden Lafontaine with one touch down. The defense had multiple players play well. Zachary Morrow, Travel Bryant, Braden Carter, Jakobe Pursley played very hard on defense. The special team players of the game were Jesus DeSantiago and Brendan Howard. The JV Wildcats will be hosted by the Kaufman Lions September 24, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. The Freshman Football team came out and played an exciting, hard fought football game against Farifield, but fell short on the last drive to lose 40 to 32. Josh Williams was the leading scorer with 3 touchdown runs of 70, 7, and 5. Lg Gray had a 12 yard touchdown run and a 65 yard touchdown pass to Gary Reeves. * Cross Country * Boys Varsity Cross Country team competed in the Sam Houston State Invitational this past weekend and placed 5th out of 36 schools!! Manny Romero received a 6th place finish and Chris Rangel finished 10th out of 195 runners!! JV Boys Cross Country team competed in the Grapeland Invitational this weekend and came away with the championship trophy! Top runners were Francis Sis with a 2nd place finish and Riley Harper with a 3rd place finish. This weekend both teams will be competing in the Teague Invitational. * Volleyball * Brownsboro Freshman: Lost 26-28; 12-25; 8-15 Player of the Game: Tati McCullough JV: Lost 10-25; Player of the Game: Dominique Lacy Coach Firmin: "We will continue getting better everyday and learn to 'leave it all on the court'." Varsity: Lost 20-25; 27-25; 19-25; Player of the Game: Summer Hagan Coach Chapa: "We played awesome!" Summer Hagan: 8 kills, 4 blocks Kierra Wilson: 8 kills, 10 asst. Stevie Ybarra: 11 digs

3 Palestine High School William Stewart: Principal Sharp s Art Class Mrs. Sharp s art students showing Wildcat pride with chalk designs on campus. Constitution Day PHS students visiting Austin for Constitution Day. Health Science Mrs. Bristow just became certified to administer National Healthcare Exams in Phlebotomy and Medical Assisting! This means students no longer have to travel to be certified and our curriculum is established here at PHS! PHS is now an official National Testing Site! 4 Palestine Junior High School Stephen Cooksey: Principal TACE The National Junior Honor Society along with the TACE Leading Ladies group traveled to the Cartmell Home for the Elderly on Grandparents Day to deliver handmade cards for the residents. STEM Project Lead the Way classes work on a team building exercise in class. NJHS SCIENCE The 8 th Grade Science classes work on the Periodic Table and the anatomic structure of different elements. Math Students in 7th grade Math Lab working in stations to practice operations with rational numbers. SOCIAL STUDIES Students used excerpts from journal entries of Spanish explorer Cabeza de Vaca and created murals of what he might have seen when traveling with American Indians in Texas.

5 A.M. Story Intermediate School Jamie Clark: Principal Extracurriculars continue to keep students excited and engaged. Pictured are Mrs. Bell s music class, TACE robotics led by Mr. Buell, and the artistic talents of Marlene Ruiz in Mrs. Nethery s art class. Story Intermediate staff and students were visited by Nicole and NED this week. The pair talked about character and leadership. Thank you very much to all who participated in our celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Knitting Club You can register at any time, just go to class and fill your request. Classes will be held on Wednesdays from September 23 to December 6 to 7:30 pm. High School Room A222, with Mrs. Jordan. In our celebration, we could not miss the traditional Mariachi Lara Band. They delighted us with Mexican songs such as El Jarabe Tapatío, Cucurrucú Paloma. Great demonstration of their talents!
