President s Message Greetings fellow Chevy enthusiasts from the First Lady! Dan ran off for Cruisin the Coast on the Mississippi coastline and for the first time in a very long time, has no internet access. Someone, not to name any names or anything, wouldn t allow him to go with the laptop because that same someone uses the laptop daily for business. So, needless to say, since he has no way of sending his message, I get to do it for him! J An early report from the MS coast boasts a fantastic year for the Cruisin event! Couldn t ask for better weather and I heard there are +/- 6,000 cars there this year! Dan & friends (Corky & Janie, Dennis & Wanda, Doug & Rita Travis) are enjoying the scenes, the cars and all the camaraderie. And maybe even the casinos, too? I m sure my 57 Chevy wagon looks good with the gulf as a backdrop! Plan now to put Cruisin the Coast on your calendar for next year. (Maybe I can make it next year, too.) I hope some of you have taken advantage of the opportunity to put your Chevy of any vintage in the national TV commercial to be shot here in Austin. Looking forward to seeing what this commercial will look like when it s done, but sure will be great to see some of our cars in it! Thanks to those of you participating! Put your thinking and service oriented caps on nomination of officers is coming up. Get ready! Also, I hear plans for Lone Star XXX are coming together. We are going to need lots of support to make this a great event in 2012 so think about in what areas you enjoy helping and get your name on the list (or committee.) 2 Minutes from the Last Meeting. The 9/16/2010 meeting was held at El Gallo's on South Congress. There was a great turn out for the meeting. The wellness report includes Jerry Dixon who had carple tunnel surgery, Bobby Marshall who has melanoma to be removed, Jim Rankin who is on new medication and doing well, Barbara Parish much improved. The minutes from the August meeting were accepted. The treasurer's report was accepted. The club has been invited again to join the Houston club in Fredricksburg on October 29th and 30th. The Hotel is the Super Tell them you are with the Houston Chevy group. Queen room is $58.55 and King or 2 Queens rate is $ Officer elections are coming up in November. Please consider serving. The convention plans for 2012 are progressing. The location sites have been narrowed and will be finalized before the October meeting.sonic will sponsor the T-shirts and Gary Brown and Garry Johnson will be working on the design. Most of the items have been donated for the '55 couch to be auctioned at LS 30. John Anderson from the Antique Car Club presented a great video on the manufacturing process of v1936 Chevys and work ethics of the time. Remember to check the website for upcoming events. Houston Club Pilgrimage to Fredericksburg Here's your invitation to go on the annual fall pilgrimage to Fredericksburg. The dates are October 29th and 30th. That's a week AFTER the wine festival. We are staying at the Super 8 again. Friday evening we scatter and find a place to eat. Saturday night most of us will go to the Rockbox Theater for a live show. It's a great Rock N Roll review with lots of remarkable impressions. I remember last year one of the men was playing Stevie Ray Vaughn and went into Jimi Hendrix so smoothly that I wondered how he could do that. This is a family venue, meaning you will have a blast but can bring your kids or grand kids and not have to worry about what's going on on stage.
