He has run sport boats from San Diego to Morro Bay, half day and long range. He has loved fishing since he was a little boy and got his captains license the first day he could at age 19. Since 1990 Mike has been on the Vagabond, as a partner in 2002, and then becoming the sole owner in Mike s impressive catch resume includes an IGFA world record Yellowfin tuna that was caught aboard the Vagabond in Family owned and operated, the Vagabond creates a great family friendly environment that is no slouch on comfort and performance. Getting the fish onboard is just as important as the journey to find them. Their excellent, experienced crew work hard to make every trip a memorable one. See more at: 1

2 San Diego Anglers 2019 CHARTERS By Dwayne Patenaude, Charter Master We had an overwhelming response to this years charter schedule, but we still have open dates on all charters except for the Mission Belle charter and the last 3 Vendetta charters. I had also made a few mistakes on charter days listed and also one boat mistake. Here is the corrected list, and sorry for any inconvenience it might have caused. And a reminder; Passports are required on all trips except the twilight trips. As always, if you are interested in a trip and it is full, PLEASE get on the standby list, no matter how many names are on it. If someone has to drop out for whatever reason, it is usually at the last minute. I very quickly go through the standby list, with most people on the list not being able to go because they have made other plans already for that day and it is too late to change. I have been through a dozen names before with everyone saying no and have to put it out to the general membership or friends on the trip to fill it up. 4 Lake Morena Campout 2019 By Tim Macauley It s time again for our annual Lake Morena campout on the 1 st weekend of June - Friday, May 31 st through June 2 nd! Reserve your campsite early by calling Ray Broadfoot at , as spaces fill up quickly. Lake Morena has something for everyone: fishing, hiking, full trailer hookups, tent camping, hot showers (bring quarters), and evening get togethers around the campfire. If you don t plan to camp out, why not come up for the day, join in the activities, and stay for the BBQ and S mores. To kick off the campout, on Friday night, Tim Macauley will be hosting a cookout at his campsite, #14. Bring your favorite beverage and feel free to add to the potluck. We will feature a horseshoe tournament at 11 am on Saturday. For Saturday dinner, Barbeque Mike will be cooking tri-tip, chicken and sausages. Add to the pot luck by bringing a side dish or dessert to share. SDA Foundation Schedule The San Diego Anglers Foundation (SDAF) is always looking for help with all of the community events that is does. Anglers will be acknowledged and awarded for these catches at monthly membership meetings. Weight receipts received prior to the 10th of each month will be published in the monthly newsletter and awards presented at the next monthly meeting. PROCEDURE TO APPLY FOR AWARDS: Submit all weight receipts within 30 days of catch. 1. Weigh your catch. Any scale known to be accurate may be used. 2. Complete a San Diego Anglers weight receipt.
