11 2016 TECHINCAL DIRECTOR A warm welcome to all members and associates of Valentine (Eleebana) FC. With the season fast approaching Valentine FC are looking to compete on several fronts during the course of The Senior squad will compete in the National Premier League (NPL) after winning the minor league in With this success brings the challenge of implementing NPL youth squads at U17 s, U15 s, U14 s and U13 s years of age and Valentine FC is looking forward to the step up and competing with the best clubs in the region. Inter-District, Development and Junior squads are the core of the club and having formed squads in each of these programs it is important that the right environment is created that enables young footballers to fulfil their potential whilst enjoying their football. As a development club we have implemented a playing style and seek to develop proactive footballers who are capable of taking the initiative and have the confidence to make measured football decisions whether it be through team play or individual creativity. My role as Technical Director will be to provide guidance and leadership to the coaches across all age groups and I am looking forward to supporting and in some cases mentoring coaches to improve their coaching skills and football knowledge. In finishing, football continues to evolve and the following quote from the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) not only applies to players but also coaches and spectators (parents). If you are not willing to learn, no one can help you. If you are determined to learn no one can stop you. Neil Orr Technical Director

12 COMMUNITY TEAMS In 2006, the FFA commenced a review of how football was played, coached and administered throughout Australia. One outcome from this review that effects players and coaching staff is the identification of 2 differing "streams". For a number of seasons now, Valentine FC has put teams forward to play in the Interdistrict 'A' division competitions. These have been selected and placed within one of the identified stream, Competitive. The second stream identified by the FFA is known as COMMUNITY. This is a term that most club members should be aware of. In season 2012 we started to implement community football ideals at the club and it was planned to complete the move to a 2 stream system for season So what is Community Football? In short, VFC community teams will incorporate all teams that are not in the development stream. This included SSF, Interdistrict teams and All Age ' O35's. At VFC, these teams will represent the majority of player numbers. But community football is more than a name for team placement. It is intended to provide an enjoyable environment for players who want to play football with their mates and at VFC it is this ideal that will guide us through the transition process. MINI ROO - SMALL SIDED FOOTBALL MINI ROO - Small Sided Football is a modified form of 11-a-side football, designed to meet the needs of players between the under 6 and 11 age groups, who have very different developmental characteristics and needs to adult players. The philosophy of MINI ROO Small Sided Football focuses on enjoyment and freedom of expression with the philosophy that the game is the teacher The coach is an organiser of fun, football related sessions. Under 6 and 7 - At Valentine we make up training teams of up to ten players each with a coach and manager selected from the parents. This group trains together and splits into two teams for game day Saturday, Games involve 4 players on the field with no goalkeepers. Players can commence in the Under 6 s from the year they turn 5. Under 8 and 9 Teams of 10, 7 players on the field including Goalkeeper Under 10 and 11 Teams of 12, 9 players on the field including Goalkeeper UNDER 6 & 7 GIRLS ONLY TEAMS From 2014, Macquarie Zone Football will be conducting a U6 & 7 competition on a Saturday Morning involving teams made up of Girls only. Valentine FC is pleased to support this initiative. Contact registrar@vefc.com.au if you would like more information. **This will go ahead if enough teams nominate for this program. To fulfil this commitment, Macquarie Football may join with our neighbour Newcastle Football to give the Girls every possible opportunity to have their own competition.

13 INTERDISTRICT U12 TO OVER 35 The Valentine Eleebana Football Club Interdistrict Teams compete in the combined competition run by our three local zones, Macquarie, Newcastle Port Stephens and Hunter Valley. The Interdistrict competition commences with the U12's to U18, includes All Age Men, Over 35 and Over 45's (if sufficient interest). Competition is open to males and females equally. There is a Girls and Ladies only competition run on the Sundays. Our Over 35 Teams play Friday Night, with All Age currently playing later Saturday Afternoons.
