3 Rotary Informer Bev Poor advised everyone about the International Conference in Sydney next year. Bev & Alan are serial attendees at International Conferences & are the go-to people to for inside information. Bev advised that there is heaps of information on the Rotary web site Sergeant s Session Just about everyone was fined for some sort of indiscretion with President Julia being fined for bringing the meeting into disrepute (what with whip etc) Guest Speaker Our Guest Speaker was Bernie Ryan, a very successful local jockey, who has just been elected as a Belmont City Councillor, who entertained the gathering with a number of racing reminiscences. Melbourne Cup Breakfast Rap Up An eclectic group gathered at The Firehouse Restaurant to celebrate the race that stops a nation. Many of the 30 attendees got into the spirit of the occasion with the fillies resplendent in their finery topped off with fascinators or the like. Not to be outdone the stallions (or should that read geldings ) approached the barrier with hats & ties. President Julia controlled the morning s activities with whip in hand. Following an excellent breakfast everyone got involved in the annual Ascot Rotary Lego Cup with Gren Courtland, Ros McLernon, Julia Temby, Max Morrell, Colin Peacock & Joanna Kendal being successful. Ronnie & the team had organised a Raffle with a $100 hamper as first prize & the lucky winner was Alan Thompson with Garry Jacobs & Janet Holding winning the minor prizes. 6 Guest Speaker for Next Week: Two of our members Di Reed and Garry Jacobs Club Reports International Service Child Sponsorship. Remember last week I didn t have a picture of Sreyheng THAN well here it is. Jocular Jokes A married Irishman went into the confessional and said to his priest, 'I almost had an affair with another woman.' The priest said, 'What do you mean, almost?' The Irishman said, 'Well, we got undressed and rubbed together, but then I stopped.' The priest said, 'Rubbing together is the same as putting it in. You're not to see that woman again. For your penance, say five Hail Mary's and put $50 in the poor box.' The Irishman left the confessional, said his prayers, and then walked over to the poor box. He paused for a moment and then started to leave. The priest, who was watching, quickly ran over to him saying, 'I saw that. You didn't put any money in the poor box!' The Irishman replied, 'Yeah, but I rubbed the $50 on the box, and according to you, that's the same as putting it in!'
