1 SPORT BROCHURE Sun Valley Primary TERM TWO 2018 WINTER SPORT 1
2 MESSAGE FROM MR VALLENDER Term One of 2018 has seen some great results thus far. We are excited about the progress made in all our summer sporting codes and our off season training that has prepared our boys and girls for the new sporting season. Some highlights of Term One start off with our cricket teams showing some great performances and challenging themselves against some tough opposition. Our swimming squad toured to Knysna for the first time since 2005 where they enjoyed the gala experience. In addition our U12 boys and girls Waterpolo teams competed in a U13 tournament showing true grit and growth in confidence. Athletics was on fire with SVPS and Reddam hosting the District trials for Western Province Southern District, where four of our Athletes made it to the finals and Leah Winter received her WP colours for 75m and 200m hurdles. Well done to all our sportsmen and women for a successful Term One. Winter sports are upon us and Term Two proves to be an exciting one with a whole host of tours and events. Our Saturday mornings of barefoot rugby and breakfast rolls will be nostalgic for parents and players as the rugby season begins. Netball and Soccer excitement during our midweek fixtures and festivals brings hoards of spectators. Hockey will be on the go with our brave players looking to test their skills with the wooden stick and evasive hockey ball. The Cross Country runners will fight it out to find out who has the most stamina in the WP crosscountry meetings. Our annual tours to Knysna with our soccer and hockey teams takes place, while our 1st Team Netball and Rugby teams are hosted by Trinity House in Johannesburg. For some, it will be the first time touring and stepping foot on a plane. We look forward to an exciting Term ahead in which we know all our athletes, parents and coaching staff are going to make it a memorable one. 2
