The lead up to the game was not ideal, with our side making at least 5 forced changes. We started off the game well, playing very good footy to take a lead of 3 points at quarter time. Unfortunately however, South Morang took control of the game, eventually winning by a solid 111 points. For Kilmore, young star Ben Cooney kicked 3 goals, with Matt Smith kicking 2 to lead our goal kickers. Prior to the game, as a group, we knew leading in to this clash that the intentions of our performance would be based on determination, hard work and working together to become better as a unit. The efforts all day can not be questioned, as the guys didn't stop trying. The loss of several experienced players had mounted extra pressure on our young side and it eventually showed as the game went longer. 2 Upcoming Events 28th of May - Surprise function 18th of June - Mid Season Ball developing as a super player for us. His worth ethic to improve and get the best out of himself is a great example of a future player that we are proud to have here at Kilmore. Also to Ben Cooney, who is continuing his fantastic development. A big congratulations to Daniel Mathew who played his 1st Senior Game with the club. Not only did he wear the jumper with pride, but he was named best on ground for an outstanding performance. It was a game we really needed to win as it would keep us in touch with the leaders. The first 5 minutes looked promising but that s where it stopped, we completely fell away I m not sure why this is happening but I guess we still have a lot of work to do. South Morang showed us how to play football, they ran in numbers they support each other and constantly put us under pressure, we really need to get back playing like that and if it wasn t for a few players we would have been beaten by more, we need to stick together and find a way through this rough patch. Netball Report KILMORE 1 by Elise Woolfe We are very happy that our Kilmore team has got another win on the board. The girls started strong and kept a good lead throughout the game. Standouts for the game were Rhiannon Bond- Radley and Samantha George. A big congratulations to Tayla Jackson on playing her first senior A grade game, she was a great addition to the team. KILMORE 2 by Elise Woolfe Kilmore 2 fought hard all game but ended up going down by 13 goals. Shae Green was a stand out for the game in the goal ring. The second quarter saw a few umpiring decisions go against us and Heidelberg West capitalised to lead by 7 at half time. A few positional changes were made to start the 3rd quarter and it made a difference until Kristy went down with an ankle injury mid way through the quarter. The fourth quarter we were never in the picture with the umpire pulling a lot of contacts against our defenders giving Heidelberg West a lot of shots on goal. Unfortunately the two young umpires we had were easily swayed by comments from the opposition bench which made it a lot harder for our girls. Final score Keep your heads up girls and we will bounce back from this game. Special mention to Jenyca (no Jenyca all those contacts you were being called for weren't contacts only maybe 3-4 were) and Vikki for never giving up no matter what was thrown at you during the game. Also to Alisha for the punishment you went through in the goal circle and not getting one call go your way. Speedy recovery thoughts and wishes go out to Kristy. KILMORE 4 By Elise Woolfe Kilmore 4 had a strong start, being in front at every quarter. Bronwyn Kinnear was a standout for the game running centre court. Hayley Kennett played well in the defensive end pulling a lot of intercepts. 4
