2 Football Last game against Mooroopna saw the Seniors win by 41 points. Although in control all day it was an easy win against the winless Cats. The Reserves had their first win for the season with a whopping 104 point victory. We had 17 players take the field with two under 18 players - Daniel Fisher and Billy Bowe stepping up. The under 18s battled hard all day but wasn t enough to win in a tight low scoring game. This weekend we play at Deakin Reserve against Shepp United with twilight match game times listed below Footy - Under 18s pm Reserves Seniors Netball - Under 17s am B Res - 1pm B Grade pm A Grade pm Wanted Boundary umpire for the reserves game If you can help out please contact Gary Brown Interleague Congratulations Harry Wheeler, Ben Clifton, Brandyn Grenfell and Jase Cole on being selected in the GVL Interleague team for 2017! The SFNC is proud of these four very talented footballers and with Jase being selected and named captain of the 2017 team. Unfortunately, the GVL team didn t get the win but the boys played great footy and did us proud. 3 Netball Netball has had a very positive start to the 2017 season with all grades having a win or two by round 4. This is great for the club and the girls, although there is still a lot of work to do before we can be our best. As my dad always said, Never let it rest until your good is better and your better is best We are all striving to compete at a level that is satisfactory for the GVL competition and to continue to win games we need to present ourselves at the highest possible level we can. That requires a lot more team work, commitment and mateship from our B res team, to train harder and train together to get the best possible results, not only for the club but for the team. A grade has had a few loses by the smallest of margins but as the season continues I m sure there will be a few more wins on the board for the girls, who have really worked hard to get together as a team, and the results will come. B grade are the quiet achievers at the moment with a great spirit for the game and several wins under their belt, and should continue to be in the winners circle into the future. We welcome Paige Hockley back to the Lions den and it s great to see her at the club, always ready to put her hand up and do the club thing!! Over the next few weeks there will be two girls leaving us to enrich their lives jet setting around the world. Both Claudia and Isabella will be gone for the rest of the season. They will be a big loss to A and B grade. Their leaving will be give someone else a wonderful opportunity to step up. It is great to see all the girls making an effort to come to Thursday night dinner and this club spirit brings the football and netball together, even though we are a bunch of Bogans!!!!!!! Congratulations to Bianca Schache, Sophie Locke, Sarah Waite, Maddie and Bella Pearce on their invitation to participate in the under 17 interleague tryouts. Unfortunately they weren t successful in making the final cut, but it is a great honour and privilege for the girls be selected. The SFNC is extremely proud of these girls achievements. All the hard work this whole under 17 team is putting at training in is paying off, with improvement every game day. Nicole Morgan Go Lions! Volunteers needed Game day help is always required so if you are able to volunteer some time, particularly at home games, please speak to a committee person - Dave & Ann Maree in the bar, President Craig, Secretary Gary are never too far away. Your help would be much appreciated and lightens the load for others. 7 LION S LOTTO Welcome to the Seymour Football/Netball Club Lions lotto. Lions Lotto is a funding rising activity that is run by the club 52 weeks of the year. There is a maximum of 50 participants; each week1 numbered ball is drawn from the spinning barrel, the owner of the ball receives a $ 500 cash return. The cost is $20.00 per ball per week A weekly will be sent to all members informing them who the weekly winner is as well as posted on the Lions web page.
