1 Dear Netball School/Club/Team Co-ordinator or Participant, Welcome to the Bunbury Netball Association (BNA) 2017 Netball Season. Thank you to everyone last year that participated at BNA, and for all the support displayed by members, players, coaches, managers and parents. We had a very successful year and we were thrilled to win South West Region Association of the year for 2016 at the South West Regionally Dinner in September. If you would like to read more information, my Presidents report is available on our website. ASSOCIATION INFORMATION This year we are looking for enthusiastic people who would love to be part of our committee in the future. At the end of this year we have our canteen manager, junior registrar, umpire co-ordinator retiring. Their children are either finished at BNA or not far off finishing. These volunteered positions will need to be filled; otherwise in the next couple of years there will be no association. We do not want to go down the road of committee roles being paid which means higher fees and unaffordability for many families. If you would love to learn one of these roles and just shadow someone this year, please contact Trish at, bunburynetball@live.com.au The roles that were not filled the other night are, Facilities manager and Admin Officer. For these roles you do not need any knowledge of netball at all. Facilities Manager deals with hiring/booking of courts, opening the courts up for carnivals, maintenance of netball/clubroom areas (you don t physically do the work; just tell us what needs doing). 2 This season each club will be required to appoint a registrar/coordinator whose role is to ensure that their players & teams are affiliated & financial members of their club and the BNA. Netball Australia and Netball WA have made changes to the structure & management of Netball Competitions within Australia. At BNA we have complied with these changes and following are the Netball programs and competitions which will be offered in season COMPETITION INFORMATION NSG NET TIER (Skills based) Registration/payment online NSG NET Co-ordinators: Sue Howard, Ludita McLean and Michelle Willsher The NSG NET Tier Program will be held at the BNA courts on Saturday mornings from 8.30am-9.15am, commencing on Sat 20 th May Sat 19 th August This is an individual skill based & participation program, aimed at children aged 5-7 years (new participants up to 10 years are also welcome). Individual participants are to enrol online. Some clubs/schools may also host this program weekly after school, so check with your club/school coordinator before registering direct with BNA. NSG NET (Skills) Fee $ (includes sport gift pack) NSG SET TIER (Skills & Modified Competition) Registration/Payment online NSG SET Co-ordinators: Marnie Elson, Robyn Pense, Mel Sarre & Sonja Cahill The NSG SET competition is open to school/club teams with games being held on Saturdays from 9.30am-10.30am. NSG SET season commences on 20 th May Sat 19 th August Players must be turning 8, 9, or 10 years of age in 2017 to play in this competition. NSG SET (Modified) Fees $ (includes sport gift pack) JUNIOR COMPETITION (age yrs) Registration/payment online Co-ordinator/Registrar: Kylie Parker-Templeman All teams in the junior competition will be graded & will be competing in a Premiership Ladder Competition to play finals. The junior competition is open to school/club teams with games being played in the Saturday competition at BNA courts or on Friday night at the SWSC (minimum age DOB 2002). If athletes are only turning 10 years old (some year 5 s) and wish to play in the junior competition, they will need to pay the junior fee. Team Umpiring Each team will be required to provide an umpire who will be rostered on to umpire on behalf of their team. These umpires will not umpire their own teams but may be required to umpire at different timeslots and different match levels to that of the team they play in. However allocated games will be appropriate to the umpire s ability. Fines and loss of premiership points will apply if a team fails to provide a rostered umpire.

VOLUNTEER ROLES: how do I know which one I am? Club Co-Ordinators can no longer enrol you manually, you must do it with your own MYNETBALL login. Registering does not incur a cost, but some courses on the E-learning will. Coach or Manager: You will need to follow the same process as a player, following the MyNetball links. If you have not registered before you will need to follow the prompts to create a new MyNetball ID number. Non-Playing: This is for a volunteer who is not coaching or managing but would still like to continue with E-learning online or as a volunteer within a club/school. You will still need to login under a club (if you do not belong to a club please us at bunburynetball@live.com.au Login with a MyNetball number or if this is your first time registering, follow the prompts to create a new MyNetball ID number. E-Learning: Log into My Netball, hit the Learning Tab, then online Learning and on your records select the Available Courses tab and then select which course you would like to do. Online Registration: Must be completed by the individual to allow the club registrar to place registered athletes in each team. Club Co-Ordinators can no longer enrol individuals manually. Individuals must register with their own MYNETBALL login. If you do not have access to a computer, you can come along to register on registration day at the BNA Clubhouse on 20 th and 22 nd of March. If you are paying with a KIDSPORT voucher, please read information below under KIDSPORTS. Registrations: Open 13 th February 2017 & Close 24 th March IF YOU ARE NOT IN A TEAM AND WOULD LIKE TO BE, PLEASE GO TO OUR WEBSITE AND COMPLETE EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FORM ON THE REGISTRATION PAGE.

4 INDIVIDUAL ENROLMENTS & REGISTRATIONS All enrolments (NSG) & registrations (Juniors/Seniors/Volunteer) are to be completed via the MyNetball program. Simply click on the BNA website address above / Select Registration forms / A drop down box will appear with the various clubs at BNA. If you are not sure which competition to register in, please clarify with your club/school, coach or manager as to which registration form you will need. Once known simply copy and paste the correct http link into your search tool bar. This will redirect you to the correct registration link for the program, club or school. You will require a MyNetball ID number to log on. Please use your existing MyNetball ID & login. If you have forgotten your password, just follow the link to generate a new one. Please note athletes will be asked to register to a club not a team. All clubs are listed on the website under Clubs. Follow the payment instructions when filling out the registration form. Please make sure you complete all boxes with correct spacing as it will not let you progress with your registration if formatted incorrectly. KIDSPORT VOUCHERS KidSport - go to to access the form in the Parents Information Section or collect a form from your local shire office. Due to changes within the MYNETBALL system individuals with Kidsports Voucher/Offline payment will no longer be able to tick offline payment, so PLEASE DO NOT PROGRESS WITH ONLINE REGISTRATION and read below. Offline payment and registrations will only be accepted on the following dates, Monday 20 th March or Wednesday 22 nd of March 4pm to 5.30pm at BNA Clubrooms. Kidsport vouchers will need to be lodged with your respective Shire office to be STAMPED AND VALIDATED. Kidsport Vouchers can then be brought to clubrooms with your MYNETBALL number and login password. THIS IS THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN REGISTER OFFLINE. If you do not bring your MyNetball login and password we will be unable to process your enrolment or registration whereby you will not be able to register to your club until a validated Kidsport voucher is lodged with BNA. Parents with a Health Care or Pensioner Concession Card can apply online via.

5 TEAM NOMINATIONS Nominate teams on MyNetball by 30 th March 2017 Club Administrators are to complete team nomination (Contact BNA if you are unsure of your MyNetball Administrator sign-on or password). 1. Logon to MyNetball using your club Admin Logins. 2. Menu Mode: Competition Participation> Tasks> Team Nomination/Lodge team. 3. Select the Nomination form appropriate BNA Competition. 4. Select Team Entry. 5. Click Add New Team Entry. 6. Select the Event Category (Division) you intend to nominate the team into. 7. Edit your Team name to include your team number, e.g. Perth 1, Perth Select Team Coach. 9. Select Team Manager. 10. Enter any grading comments that you feel will assist with accurately grading each team. 11. Mark it Confirmed Click update. 12. Repeat this process for ALL the teams your club is nominating. 13. Add Players to the nominated teams by selecting the Enter Players Tab. Up to 12 players may be nominated for EACH team and these players should remain in this team and not be moved after grading. Close-Off Dates Clubs will need to close off their enrolment & registration dates (currently set to 31/12/17) to prevent new registrations after teams have been finalised.

6 BNA JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS & REPRESENTATIVE TEAMS Athletes must register online via the following link by Sunday 26 th February. Saturday 3 rd June to Monday 5 th June, to be held at Wembley Sports Park / Perth Netball Centre (Matthews NC) Sunday 23 rd of July Age Carnivals (Venue TBC) Attend BNA training sessions on a Wednesday afternoon/evening (March to Junetime to be advised) The anticipated costs to be a member of a representative team: $ this covers team participation in the various carnivals. $85.00 for new BNA Jacket. This is a compulsory for 12 s athletes and any new participants to the program. The jacket is optional for anyone who already has a BNA Windcheater, as we are phasing them out. Or $ if you wish to purchase a new BNA Jacket & tracksuit pants. Training singlet $35.00 (optional). Individuals are responsible for their own accommodation, transport & food costs whilst attending any carnival.

7 BUNBURY NETBALL ASSOCIATION UMPIRE ACADEMY Any umpiring enquiries/queries are to be sent in an to Attn: Kerrie for red, blue, white or badge programs or to Vikki for green shirt program. The program numbers are limited, so please register with your MyNetball ID at the following link to avoid disappointment. LOOctXa/SMKgH58c1GBGDZ7nRmnte7Wt/V8pbUq8=&entityid=39629&fl=1&id=16750 A rule refresher and umpiring coaching session will be held on Mon 20 th & Wed 22nd of March, from 4pm to 5pm at the BNA netball courts. All umpires are urged to come down to these sessions however the session is only available to umpires who will be participating in the BNA Junior Umpiring squad this season. Please bring a whistle! Prior to coming it is recommended that you take the online theory test via MyNetball. Search MyNetball - login (top right hand of page) - On line learning - Section 1 Umpire Exam. If you have forgotten your login it gives you the opportunity to reset password. There is no charge for this and you can complete it as many times as you wish. It would be a good idea to also watch the videos explaining some of the rules through You Tube - search official rules of netball new in Rule books are available for purchase at the BNA office ROSTER SYSTEM The committee have put in strategies to help lighten the load of the umpires, whereby BNA squad umpires are to indicate their availability for the squad umpiring roster system. The roster system will be put in place after athlete; umpire and team registrations have been completed. This roster will only be successful if umpires stick to their requested umpiring commitments. SQUAD UMPIRE UNIFORM Umpires have a choice of wearing a white umpiring skirt or purchasing an association navy umpiring skirt. The navy skirt has built in bike pants built in, with a BNA logo. These are the only two skirts that can be worn by squad umpires along with a white top or the BNA umpiring tops. Any carnivals or special events will require umpires to be fully dressed in white. Sizing and ordering of these skirts can be done at the rules session on the 20 th and 22nd of March. The skirts will be approx $35, whereby a deposit of $20 is required for each order with the balance payable on delivery. Umpire Development officer - Kerrie Bassett Our Umpiring Academy has been divided into colour levels to create pathways. We feel that umpiring is very much all about confidence and understanding of the rules. Umpires knowledge and understanding develops at different rates, therefore we feel that it is fair to allow someone to re-join a level again until they feel they are ready to move to the next level. Adult umpires can be assessed to determine starting levels.

8 Foundation Umpire Program Level Green: This is a beginners Umpiring Program for anyone who is wishing to learn how to umpire. You will start off umpiring NSG players (10 and under) Coaching will be Run by Vikki Merritt on Saturday mornings from 8am -9.15am, followed by umpiring a NSG Set game at 9.30am. Starting Date Saturday 20 th May (Minimum age 12) If you have completed a year of Foundations and are not completely confident you can reenrol in foundations Level Green again. Development Umpire Program (Levels Red, Blue & White) The aim of this program is to develop emerging umpire skills & knowledge whilst having the guidance and support of Badged Umpires. UMPIRES MUST PRESENT THEIR LEVEL ONE AND THEORY EXAM CERTIFICATES BEFORE START OF THE SEASON TO ASSESS YOUR CORRECT LEVEL PLACEMENT. First and second year reds are excluded but this is a must for blue and white. First RED, BLUE and WHITE Umpiring Coaching Clinic: 20th and 22nd of March 4pm - 5pm For more umpire information please visit our website and read the 2017 Umpire information. Coach & Athlete Development Association Development Officer - Tanya O Connor Netball Australia has mandated that all coaches of NSG NET, SET & Junior teams should be affiliated members of our association and hold the appropriate levels of coaching accreditations for the level of athlete that they will be coaching. At Bunbury Netball Association we support this initiative & we are working extremely hard to ensure our coaches are trained up & develop to be the best coaches that they can be when coaching the junior athletes in our association. Many of our coaches have already achieved coaching accreditations and each year we strive to provide ongoing opportunities for all coaches to up-skill and further develop their coaching knowledge and ability and to keep one step ahead of their athletes! FOUNDATION COACH ACCREDITATION The Foundation Coach accreditation can now be completed online. If you have a MyNetball ID login, select the Learning Tab, then online Learning, and on your records hit the Available Courses tab and then select which course you would like to do. Click on Foundations Coaching Course and commence (approx 4hrs) The online Foundation Coach Accreditation Course is targeted primarily at beginner coaches, teachers, parents and NSG coaches and outlines introductory coaching information and basic netball techniques. The Course is the first step in the national coaching accreditation framework and is an important step along the knowledge pathway for a coach. Pre-requisites There are no pre-requisites to complete the online Foundation Coach Accreditation course. Enrolment Rules e.g. age restrictions Participants must be at least 14 years of age to access the accreditation.

9 Enrolment process The Foundation Coach Accreditation Course is an online course that is accessible all year. The Foundation Coach Accreditation Course costs participants $56.50 to enrol. successful completion of the FCC, BNA will reimburse the course fee. Refund Policy Netball Australia does not provide refunds for its online courses. Upon If the course enrolment has been entered into by mistake, and the course has not been attempted, a refund may be requested by ing learning@netball.asn.au. Netball Australia will treat each refund application on its merit and make a decision at its discretion. DEVELOPMENT COACH ACCREDITATION/COURSE (Cost to be confirmed) Sunday 26 th March at BNA Clubhouse/Courts (9am-4pm) This course is the next step up for Foundation Coaches and is applicable for coaches of upper primary, high school, development programs & representative teams. These courses are also being held at other venues/associations in the SW region. If you are unable to attend on the above dates in Bunbury, please ask about other course dates.
