1 CELEBRATING 27 YEARS OF SINGLES GOLF IN AMERICA Denver Chapter American Singles Golf Association November 2018 Bird Droppings Imagine there were no volunteers in this group! Imagine if there was no one to send you the s to keep you up to date with what is happening. Imagine there was no one posting new events on Meetup. Imagine there were no socials to meet other people because no one volunteered last year. How do you think the events would have happened last year without volunteers? Did you enjoy the golfing events? Do you enjoy meeting new people, playing new golf venues? They didn t happen without people volunteering to organize them! We have almost 200 ASGA dues paying members and over a 1000 members on Meetup. Why aren't more volunteers coming forward to help? Is it because there s no one in our group who is retired? NOPE! We do! Is it because you can t work and volunteer? NOPE because most of our current board members work AND volunteer! It s because, as a society, we sit back, and let others do the work but we enjoy the fruits of other people s work. If you re not volunteering, then that is exactly what you are doing! It s time to change that! VOLUNTEER FOR JUST ONE YEAR! ELECTIONS ARE NOVEMBER 13th at the Social 6:00pm at the Citron Bistro. We need volunteers or this group will go away and will not exist. We ONLY exist because of people who have chosen to make time, just a few HOURS each month, to help others. If you want our group to die, then don t volunteer. Think, Oh, someone else will do it. Think, I just don t have a couple of hours each month to help the group. Think, I spend too much time at work to help. Think, I just don t think I d be good at doing it. We do have some great people who are volunteering now, but we need a couple more. YOU CAN AND WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE AS A VOLUNTEER! It has been a pleasure being your President this year and we have an awesome board to thank for that. They have done a great job volunteering to make this a successful group. We are one of the largest groups in American Singles Golf Association. Thank you Board, for your work and your time this year, it is noticed and very much appreciated. I just want this group, the single golfers, to continue and get even better. Have a great time at the Holiday Party and remember, I will be capturing that great time, saved for posterity! ~Judy Roche Secretary & Official Photographer GOLF EXPO Save the Date & Volunteer The 2019 Golf Expo is set for February 8 10 at the Merchandise Mart (58th & I25). This event is a great way to meet golfers and sign up new members to ASGA plus they receive a discounted rate for their first year. Save the date and let us know if you would be interested in volunteering at the ASGA booth (generally 23 hour slots). Volunteers receive prepaid admission to the Expo for the weekend (not just on their assigned volunteer times). 18Hole Chair NOVEMBER ALREADY???? Our official golf season is over but not the beautiful fall/winter golf weather Colorado is known for. I hope you all get out and take advantage of it as much as possible. Shoot it's been in the high 70 s for the last week or 10 days, what more can you ask for? As many of you know, I will not be your 18 Hole Golf Chair in the upcoming year. I want to thank you for all of the many new friendships I've made over the last 2 years. We've had some challenges and some triumphs but also created many great memories. I want to Thank you all for that. I hope you have a great fall & I'll see you at the socials and other activities the guys and gals have planned.
