1 CELEBRATING 27 YEARS OF SINGLES GOLF IN AMERICA Albany Chapter American Singles Golf Association December 2018 President s Message Can you believe we are closing in on another year over? Don t know about you but I feel like time is flying. Thankfully we were able to enjoy some great golf and social events this year and look forward to more in Deb P. has been contacting golf courses and lining up some different courses for next year. It is refreshing to have new people come in with different ideas and who are willing to put forth effort to coordinate events. Kathleen has been trying new places for Happy Hour and also scheduled a wonderful dinner at the Wishing Well. Dottie once again hosted a funfilled Holiday party with over 20 people in attendance including a few new faces, Frank and Pat (hope you will join us at future events). As you reflect back over the year, hope spending time with your fellow ASGA members puts a smile on your face. This organization is a great way to make new friends and I encourage everyone to participate in all we have to offer. Wish you all a very joyous and happy holiday season and a very, happy healthy New Year. Welcome Marian welcomed Larry Breedlove to the meeting. Larry is a prospective member. Secretary s Report The minutes of the October 2, 2018 meeting and the annual meeting at Van Patten on October 14, 2018 were reviewed and approved. Treasurer s Report Bob Doyle reported the chapter has an available balance of $2,185. Membership While there is no membership chair at the moment, Marian will ensure that we are responding to new people who express interest through Meetup or on our website. Marian and Kathleen will be exploring other possible activities. Social Committee Kathleen, our new Social Chair, has planned a dinner at The Wishing Well for Saturday, November 10 th. Kathleen also shared a variety of suggestions that were submitted at the annual meeting. Among them were: brunch, bowling, billiards, Escape Room (Crossgates), Siena and U Albany basketball, simulated golf, movie night, dinner every 2 weeks, Holiday Party and Super Bowl party. Our annual Holiday party will be at Dottie s on Saturday, December 15 th. More to come. 3 DINNER AT THE WISHING WELL Social Chair Kathleen Patterson continues looking for opportunities for our ASGA Chapter to socialize, Jacob and Anthony s at Stuyvesant Plaza drew a nice crowd, and before that a great evening at the Wishing Well. We had 18...food was delish...the big winner was the sirloin! I think most people ordered off the restaurant week menu that included appetizer, entree and dessert. All agreed it was a nice

4 THE HOLIDAY PARTY Saturday, December 15, the place to be was Dottie Daly s as she once again opened her beautiful home for ASGA s Holiday Party. The A through M s provided appetizers, the N through Z s brought dessert and Dottie provided a great meal in between. The featured entrée s were spoon roast and chicken cordon bleu, along with tossed salad and a tortellini dish. After dinner, the annual Yankee Swap grab bag with some great gifts, and some gift stealing. One gift not stolen was Ellen s who unwrapped the third appearance of Toilet Golf, we think Ellen made it clear it will make a fourth appearance next year wrapped in a way you d never expect.
