1 Brighton Golf Club 2015 Hot Streak in Cold Weather The coldest morning in the history of VSGC wasn t enough to deter the members from turning up in droves, Mirko Legenda Pajic & Jovanni Markovic brought along a flask each with some single malt Rakija to start the day off. 20 eager members turned out to talk about the sensational win by the Serbia Under 20 boys (beating some 3 rd world soccer nation called Brazil) in the World Cup. Aca Nikolic, Obrad Golic & Dragan Ivkovic were lucky enough to grab some freak tickets & make their way over to NZ & witness the event live which I think will stay with them forever as it made all of us feel very proud. However, once the talk was over it was time for some golf, in the way that only the VSGC know how & that was with lots of laughs, banter & rakija to warm our hearts. By 9.00 am the groups were formed, the gloves were on & the first ball was ready to be hit in the trees (or the fairway). The group was lucky to have Dr Peter Pjesevac make a return & new member Brane Ilic join in for the fun, Brane was given a handicap of 36 (very generous) & Ratko Petkovic was given the task of keeping him honest. After 9 holes there were the usual early paces setters, Sladjan Krsic, Blaza Parovic & Milan Vekovich, were all looking to sharpen their game & go for first prize. Lurking in group 3 was Milutin Manojlovic who was no stranger to golf, as Milutin (whose actual aged is estimated at between 68-92) weaved his magic around the course, the real contender was in group 4, Nebojsa Protic had just started to get his short game in tune & the points were starting to mount up. By days end the sun finally came out & the golf was red hot, Nebojsa Protic was sinking putts & his chipping was worthy of television, he was in a league of his own, with 3 & 4 pointers breaking him away from the pack. Once all the scores came in Nebojsa was the man to catch, Milutin Manojlovic, Blaza Parovic & Sasha Milenkovic were all worthy efforts, however, Nebojsa had done enough to win the day. A shout out must go to new comer Brane Ilic with 17 points, Veljko Krajacic with a solid 29 points (his highest in a while) & Timce Spasevski who had a good round & had to share a cart with Milan Vekovich. The Longest Drive with a monster strike straight up the middle went to Bora Vasic (not a renown long hitter), & a great effort by Ratko Petkovic for 2 NPT s, Sladjan Krsic, Bobby Rankovic, Dragutin Tomic & Dragi Trkulja for all their Par 3 efforts. Overall an excellent day & the club wishes to remind everybody that our next outing is at Eagle Ridge Golf Club on 5 th July. The VSGC would like to inform all members if they re interested in going to Yarrawonga on 7-9/08/15 for 2 nights, 2 rounds of golf, dinner & breakfast (both days) for a cost of $335 per player please respond to the up & coming SMS message from Milan Vekovich.
