1 February A New Year, a New Start & a New Champion Freeway Golf The VSGC welcomed back all of the members to kick off the year saw the growth of the club beyond all expectations, with the membership number doubling in size & with more Serbians, always comes more fun, more drinking & more banter. The year s first hit out, is one that always attracts large numbers & hot weather, fortunately for the club, the predicted 37 degrees never eventuated, however we witnessed some sizzling golf. The club also welcomed new member Nebojsa Protic, & the big man was looking the goods on the first tee. Milan Vekovich gave the members an update of the wellbeing of Rade Krstic who had a misfortunate car accident last year, via a text message from his wife. The club still wishes Rade progressive recovery & for any member wishing to visit Rade, he s moved to the Fairfield recovery Unit, details can be obtained from Milan for all of the exact details. As the large number gathered to kick off the season of golf, Dragutin Tomic had called in late with a request to be added to the field, little did he know the day he was about to have. Dragutin was placed in a group, with his brother Milan, Mileta Davidovic & Bora Vasic. It seemed like this would be the group of winners. By days end we had the usual suspects come in with some consistent & predictable scores, Sladjan Krsic (or as we will like to call him Mr Consistent). Micki Djordjevic, Sasha Petkovic, name sake Ratko & Milan Vekovich were showing their usual form with scores around their handicaps & better. Petar Skins Stojanovic was looking like man with a mission, starting the day with some scintillating golf, however, he fizzled out by the end, & was destined to stay on the same handicap. As the scores started to come in, Damir Trkulja, Micki Djordejvic, Sasha s Milenkovic & Petkovic were all in with a sniff. Ray Desancic came in shaking his head, expecting to get the NAGA award & willing to bet on money, however, that unfortunate award went to Obrad Golic, but all that was quashed with a few good beers. Just when we thought things were done & dusted, Bora Vasic turned up with a massive 46 points, & by all accounts it was a great day out, & after looking at his score card, the amount of 3, 4 & 5 pointers were a reflection of a golfer riding high. Not to be out done, Dragutin Tomic, who was also part of the same group handed over his card which was even more impressive, this was the first time Dragutin had come in first place. He was not planning to play, but his wife asked him to do the garden, to which he quickly remembered he d rather play golf. Congratulations Dragutin, that handicap will drop by a few strokes after today. The next focal point is the Interstate challenge with the Serbians from, SA, NSW & ACT, which is scheduled for late February, the VSGC has got large representation at the event, to which all of the boys are looking forward to a fun weekend.

2 Also the President (Pavle Jonovic) has indicated that the next Round at Bundoora Golf Club, the VSGC will hold it AGM to go through the particulars & try to get some new members to be part of the organisation. 3 All in the Family Sasha Petkovic with his girlfriends Dad - Zoran Ervedicki. Sasha drove a massive 310 meters on the 14 th hole, there was no holding back on those tee shots.

4 New Member Nebojsa Protic (right), with the pocket rocket Micki Djordjevic. Micky managed to grabbed 2 NTP s & 3 rd place at Freeway Golf, not a bad day out for the young fella. He s been chipping away at that handicap & today was no exception.

5 The boys are ready to go. Rakija check Coffee check Smokes check Sandwich check Damir, Stefan, Dragi, Obrad, Jonovan & Petar. Stefan saw a Tiger Snake on the first hole, however, the snake recognised Stefan is the superior Cobra, so there was a stand off.

15 The boys were off to the Serbian Carnival (at the Keysborough Church grounds) after the first round of golf, stay off the rides boys, it was a roller coaster ride today.
