2 About Groundwork Changing places, changing lives - one green step at a time Tesco Bags of Help: Groundwork successfully secured the management role for the Tesco Community Grants Scheme. Our role is to support Tesco to provide funding to environmental groups across the country using funds from the 5 pence carrier bag levy. In the first year we have enabled local groups across Yorkshire and the Humber region to access 1,380,000 funding for environmental projects. Groundwork locally has been working on a range of projects: Alderman Kneeshaw Pa r k: Working with the Friends group Groundwork have created a Master Plan for improvements and helped secure funding for wildflower enhancements, nature trail and challenging play equipment. Healthy Cookin g : Groundwork has been working with Hull City Council Public Health: Providing healthy cooking training workshops to parents and families. Western Library: Groundwork has con nued to support Hull City Council Library Services and the Friends of the Western Library to develop the community garden on the Boulevard. We successfully secured funding for events and con nued improvements. The garden won a Silver Gilt in the Yorkshire In Bloom Awards 2015 and Macmillan Nursery Schoo:l : Worked with pupils, staff and parents of the Macmillan Nursery on 21st Avenue. Helping them to construct a greenhouse from recycled pop-bo les collected by the community and build an outdoor oven built from Cob with a living roof. Withernsea: We have been suppor ng ERYC and partners of the Millennium Green Play Park. We helped the partnership secure funding from the Big Local Trust for the development of a sustainable plan for the park. Groundwork have created a Master Plan for a Park that will lead the way for the area in innova ve and inclusive play. Holme on Spalding Mo: o r: We are working with The Holme on Spalding Moor Village Hall Commi ee to help them secure funding for vital improvements to the Village Hall. Springhead Park Ac ve Memories: Groundwork secured funding to develop a 40 week pilot enabling people over 25 who may be socially isolated or living with long term health condi ons including memory loss to stay fit and ac ve. As well as the weekly ac vi es we also organised our 2nd Older Peoples event at the Wymersley Park Bowls Pavilion. February: U n fortunately d ue to severe weather Swee ngs had to put a halt to the works. March: We saw the start of refurbishment of the Clubhouse with Colin Headon & Newman undertaking decora on of the main bar area. Air 2 G2 machine hired to improve drainage of the greens. April May: Swee ngs recommenced work on the course and club house refurbishments were well underway. June: Work on D D A compliance including toilets and disabled access completed by CPS Construc on. New carpets were installed in club house bar by East Yorkshire Carpets and all the wooden fixtures, flooring and bar were renovated by Paul Hebdon French Polisher. Fixed sea ng areas were re-upholstered by Academy Upholstery. July: Swee ngs con nue wtih drainage works. Imp r ovement works to the pa o area undertaken and the addion of a new spike bar. August/September: Swee ngs finish work on 7th pond and new feature ditch on the 6th October: Swee ngs returned to finish the final elements of the head walls and remaining back-filling. Addi onal fairway spraying works for weeds undertaken. November: New Signage to the south eleva on of the club house and new stools for the bar area. Winter mats and replacement rakes acquired. Work to Ver -drain the fairways Future Plans: We ar e now looking to use any remaining Key Fund money to good use in improving the catering facili es and poten al addi onal improvements to the course.
