1 2016 Issue No. 09 Sep 60 th Silver Quiver Our tournament day started with A la coming to the rescue and doing a bit of lawn maintenance, so shoo ng lines could be seen. Sunday 18th September was intermi ent rain and cool breezes. This only made the shoot all the more interes ng, with all going onto complete the 4 distances. It did not deter the 46 archers who joined the tournament, with several excellent results shot. With only one equipment failure, (they had a spare release aid) and one target centre falling out (Junior to the rescue) it was a rather uneven ul event. It was so pleasing to see so many archers from other clubs enjoy the day, and come away with medals. Thank you to all those that helped the day be a success. Emma for the catering, Dean for perfect target faces, Jeff for helping with target alloca ons (thank goodness for mobile target bu s) Junior making sure target bu s were in good order, and to my right hand helpers Aileen and Anke with the entering of scores. Most of all thanks to Gerald as Field Captain, kept us on our toes, and s ll managed to keep warm and smile, when the weather was damp. More photos inside. Many happy returns.
3 Message from the outgoing President As the Adelaide Archery Club celebrated its 70 th year in 2015, I was excep onally happy to personally hand out a commemora ve mug to over 130 members. I am currently trying to organise that the remaining mugs are received by the members who have not been at the club for some me. Thank you to all those members who assisted at our Camp Quality day. I was nice to see a few new faces assis ng. Thanks also to James Henriks for all his efforts in organising this event and any Narnu Farm Cluster Camps. Tournaments During the last twelve months our club had a successful tournament season. It is very pleasing to see a few new faces from AAC taking part in tournaments. Congratula ons to Clare Reuther who competed for Archery Australia and became Oceania Juniors Women s Recurve Champion and 9 th in the Junior World Indoor Championships. Keep up the good shoo ng. Congratula ons also goes to all medallists in events held during the year. The weather was reasonably good to us for our tournaments thank you Sue. On a slightly sour note it is disappoin ng that we had small numbers enter some of our events. Some of the youth members of our club were no ceably missing from club championships. I do realize that there are other events like QRE s on but these seem to be on almost weekly whilst we only hold 4 club championships events each year. Maybe next year will be a li le more posi ve. RGB LEVEL At RGB level we had six members who held posi ons during the year under the old cons tu on and I hope we will have representa on on the new Board. Our club currently has four judges who assist at QRE s, Ranking Shoots, Na onal, State and Invita on events. We also have 4 Approved QRE Officials. An Archery Australia Club Essen als Workshop was held and 6 members took part. This was on STG (membership database) and Archers Diary (tournaments). 29 members and partners a ended the Society Presenta on Dinner. I would like to thank our sponsors during the past year and also Bill Menz who lets us know when we seem to be going slightly awry at club mee ngs. All officers have done a great job throughout the last twelve months and I would like to thank them. Ann Branford for cleaning up a er us all and fueling our athle c bodies. Emma Fe ke for doing so well at organising our spare me for Archery social events. Jeff Nicoll for a ending mee ngs to keep us informed on what the RGB is doing. Brendan Roberts and Glenn Pauley for keeping our Junior Club members under control. Anyone else going to volunteer to look a er 30 children most Saturday mornings. Anne e Oien for keeping us financial. Keep up the good work. James Henriks, Club Coaches and Eileen Hullstrung for helping to keep our membership numbers up. William Carney for helping to bring us into more electronic era. Andre Laforet and his band of workers who assist all archers at the club in one way or another. Sue Mar n for trying to get her head around Archers Diary. Junior Alexander and Brian Tietzel for keeping our shoo ng environment under control. Clarence Yeoh and Tony Loi for keeping our members informed of what is happening around the club. Randy Coon for keeping us informed what is happening outside of our club. Aileen Anderson and Stephen Robinson for keeping good records on our shoo ng ability and le ng the public know and last but not least that band of Field Captains that keep us on our toes when we are out on the shoo ng line. A special thanks to the volunteers who have helped out at events during the past 12 months. Even though I have men oned them before a special thanks to those who are not standing for re-elec on, enjoy your shoo ng. I hope that all incoming officers enjoy the experience as much as I have. Finally, I wish to give special thanks to all those people who have assisted me over the past five years in my role of President. Carol Ashlee Outgoing President
