1 THAXTED PARK GOLF CLUB MEMBER RS NEWSLETTER JUNE 2016 Grounds Course Development The 2 nd hole is taking shape nicely with all of the sub base workk done. Unfortunately the weather hasn t helped the next stage of works completing the irrigation lines and the even bigger job of establishing appropriate drainage. Those works will w continuee weather permitting then the sand will be applied before its time to roll out the turf. Members are now encouraged to use thee pitching area that has been added where the men s traditional 7 th tee is located. This will provide an adequate facility too hone the short game with emphasis on flighting the ball at the cut down pins provided. p Members should be congratulated for their great assistance soo far following the course traffic flow directional programme that has been in place during this earlyy winter period. We have had some consistent rain and so farr the course has handled it very well. Continual support of this programme should see the course have minimal disruptionn for carts and vehicles for the remaining winter months. This club initiative is vital for the course to continue its improvements and all members are urged to do their best whilst treating the lottery as an alternative to an out and outt Water levy. A large amount of books were handed out this week for those who are yet to receive theirs please expect them in the post sometimee soon.

2 Jordan Sherratt Jordan has recently had a few weeks at home whichh was highlighted by his engagement to long time partner Loren Morgan, congratulations guys! Coming up in the next few weeks Jordan willl be back onto the Asian tour for the Yeangder Tournament Players Championship in Taipei for a week before returning to the Asian Development tour for the biggest event on their calendar. Plenty of air miles to be racked up over the next month, we all wish Jordy J the best of luck with his endeavours. New beer System To further enhancee our Members and guests experience at Thaxted Park Golf Club we are very happy to have benefited from the installation of a state off the art beer system. Complete with walk in chilled keg room, the addition of 7 new beer lines, a new glycol refrigeration system and a built in under r bar chiller plate we can safely sayy that the Club now has the coldest tap beverages in thee Southern area. High profile brands like Hahn Super Dry 3.5, James Squire one fifty f lashes,, Orchard Crush cider and Guinnesss have been added to increase the appeal of our refreshment portfolio keeping in line with our ever growing function requirements. 3 The winners of our second Sunday Funday were Steve Clarke and Tom Hicks. They have added a valuable 5 points to their t progressive score. The day saw s Ros Henderson, a guest for the day score a hole in one on the second. Another great day, followed by a BBQ cooked by our regular chefs Liz and Marty, and Richards Quiz. The 3 rd Funday will be on Sunday 18th September The format Stableford Worst Ball can be quite a lot of fun. Bookings are now open for Christmas in July to be held on Friday 15 th July. Texas Bull Machine will be catering this year, with the band The Rock Doctors providing the entertainment. Our girls won both Div 1 and Div 2 Southern Pennant under the aspiring leadership of Pat Hoggg and Chris Telfer. This has been our first year into Southern Group Pennant, so well done girls. Thaxted Golf Clubb are very proud of you. Golf S.A. Pennant has now started and we look forward to this season. The winning team was Monica Day and Terry Waddington 633 1/2 (sorry Kathy looks like you have lost your playing partner (: >) hurry up andd get well) with a closely contested 2nd being Cherryl and Paul Bagshaw 64 1/2.
