3 1 Well another year has come and gone and here we are again, back to one of the most fun circuits around! The Winter Series is always a great place to catch up with all our old friends and to make lots of new ones. This year we are offering several exciting new classes as well as continuing to offer some of the great classes you have enjoyed before. In our December shows we will once again have our Toys for Tots Grand Prix and Dinner. Please plan now for the toys you will need and let s make a lot of underprivileged kids really happy during the Christmas Holidays. We are also offering increased money in the High Jr/AO Classics and we are once again hosting a $25, International Hunter Derby in December!! One of the new classes we are offering is the USHJA Pre- Green Incentive Classic. This class is open to all nominated Pre-Green horses at the show and will eventually lead them to chance at $25, Finals to be held in Lexington, KY later in the year. In February we are offering some new Jumper Classics that we hope will give an opportunity to move your young horses and riders up in a Grand Prix like setting without over facing them and also giving them a chance to win some money. We will also have the Tack Trunk Circuit Awards again this year due to the wonderful generosity of Maura Tobler and the Tack Trunk. Lots of great fun and great competition in a wonderful climate controlled environment for your Winter Showing Pleasure!! Our June Series was successful once everyone caught on to what was available. In two weeks you get: FOUR CHANCES TO QUALIFY FOR PONY FINALS, FOUR CHANCES TO QUALIFY FOR JUNIOR HUNTER FINALS, FOUR CHANCES AT GETTING THOSE LAST MINUTE POINTS NEEDED FOR THE MEDAL, THE MACLAY, and THE WASHINGTON AND THE USET!! All this in one stall, in one Hotel room and at one facility with one ride in the trailer. The change that you will see this year is that we are going to move the shows indoors!! That way we can keep the fans moving and get you guys out of the SUN!! Our September show will once again host the Zone 7 Equitation Championships! This is a very exciting class that we are really proud to offer. If you or your riders have won a major equitation class through the year you are automatically qualified for this class and the winner gets an automatic qualification for the Medal Finals in Harrisburg! Gallop in the Glen at the River Glen Equestrian Center in New Market,!! I can t say enough about how much fun those horse shows were this year and don t have room to tell you all the wonderful things that are in store for next year! This is a beautiful part of the country with a wonderfully designed facility that has all the things horsemen look for in a facility, plus some of the nicest people you would ever want to meet or compete against. I can t say enough good things about it - so I hope you put us on your calendar for 2013 so you can enjoy what is Gallop in the Glen!! 6 4 GENERAL INFORMATION, RULES AND REGULATIONS CONDITIONS OF COMPETITION EVERY CLASS OFFERED HEREIN WHICH IS COVERED BY THE RULES AND SPECIFICATIONS OF THE CURRENT FEDERATION RULE BOOK WILL BE CONDUCTED AND JUDGED IN ACCORDANCE THEREWITH. Life, senior active and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or above and Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Rides. A nonmember may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions, Dressage Competitions, Reining Competitions and Combined Driving Competitions upon payment of a $30 nonmember registration fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the Requirements of this rule: 1) leadline; 2) exhibitions; 3) games and races; 4) classes for 4-H members; 5) walk trot and academy classes (academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6) USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA Endorsed Reining Competitions. 8) Opportunity classes, 9) citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation, 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11) assistant handlers in Dressage Sport Horse Breeding classes. The Horse Show Management reserves to itself the right to limit entries in any class, section or division; to refuse, accept conditionally, or to cancel any entries; to disqualify any riders or exhibitors; to prohibit exhibition of entries, and cancel award prizes, without any claim for damages; to change any course to add a dotted line, to cancel or combine any unfilled classes, or to reschedule classes, after due notice to exhibitors; to change rings or rotate judges; to change specifications in jumper classes as competition warrants. Every horse entered herein for competition will be under the control of the Horse Show Management, but the show management will in no case be responsible for any loss or damage that may occur, and it shall be a condition of entry that each exhibitor shall hold the horse show and the officials, employees, directors, officers, sponsoring entities of the horse show and the facilities at which the horse show is held blameless for any loss or accident to his horse(s), employee(s), or equipment which may occur from sickness, fire or other cause. Each horse entered will be assessed a $8.00 drug fee + a $8.00 USEF fee, which is forwarded to USEF. EXHIBITOR NOTE ALL ADDS/SCRATCHES during the horse show must be made on the form provided in the horse show office before the classes begin. Horses shown in a class which they have not been entered will be required to pay a DOUBLE ENTRY FEE in those classes. NON-SHOWING HORSES WILL BE REQUIRED TO PAY A $150 FEE PER SHOW. Horse and owner information must be put on an entry form. CHECK OUT Any mistakes at check out must be resolved within 24 hours. No refunds will be given. PLEASE CHECK YOUR BILLS CAREFULLY. COURTESY CIRCLE A dotted line in Hunter and Equitation classes may be used to facilitate ease in the time schedule. REFUNDS Once a horse is entered and accepted by the show, it may not be withdrawn from competition without permission of Management. Exhibitors shall be held responsible for entry fees of all horses entered by them or their agents even though payment of these fees is not submitted along with entry form. Entry refunds for all ill or injured animals will be granted only upon receipt of a satisfactory vet certification from the official horse show veterinarian. When valid notification is received, the entry fee will be refunded or dropped less a $30.00 office processing fee. STABLING FEES AND NOMINATING FEES WILL NOT BE REFUNDED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. HORSES WHICH ARE NOT SHOWN IN A CLASS IN WHICH THEY ARE ENTERED WILL FORFEIT THEIR FEES, except if a horse becomes ill or is injured prior to the class or classes entered. In this case, A SCRATCH SHEET MUST BE FILLED OUT AND MUST BE PRESENTED TO THE SHOW OFFICE PRIOR TO THE CLASS OR CLASSES BEING SCRATCHED. Once your number has been picked up, a transaction fee of $5 may apply if you add or scratch a class. If you scratch before 4:00 p.m. the day before your class you will not be charged. If you scratch on the day of the class and prior to the start of the class, you will be charged $5. If you scratch AFTER the start of the class, you will be charged the entry fee. PRIZE MONEY The prize money will be awarded at the close of entries. All fees must be paid prior to the class entry. Prize money breakdown: 1st-30%; 2nd-22%; 3rd-15%; 4th-13%; 5th-10%; 6th-10%. Remaining prize money will be mailed to owners within 30 days following the horse show. STABLING Stabling will be available after 9:00 a.m. (12/3/12, 12/31/12, 1/18/13, 3/18/13). Stall fees are $185 each for reservations made and PAID for prior to the closing date of entries. NOTE: After closing date, stall fees will be $215. Stalls will be permanent 10 x 10 with gates. MANAGEMENT RESERVES THE RIGHT TO LIMIT TACK STALLS. NO STALL WILL BE RESERVED UNLESS STALL FEES ARE PAID BY CLOSING DATE. STALL FEES MUST BE PAID FOR BY CHECK OR CREDIT CARD BY THE CLOSING DATE TO RECEIVE THE STALL FEE RATE OF $ JUMP ORDER A rotating jumping order will be established and posted for all classes over fences. All horses must be ridden in the posted order. Riders or trainers who have conflicts due to multiple entries in a class must see the starter so that necessary adjustments can be made.

7 5 MEASUREMENT Horses and ponies will be measured on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at all horse shows. RIBBONS Hunter and Equitation Classes Trophy & Ribbons 1st - 8th Jumper Classes Trophy & Ribbons 1st - 8th CREDENTIALS ALL EXHIBITORS IN THE PONY HUNTER, JUNIOR HUNTER, ADULT AMATEUR AND AMATEUR OWNER SECTIONS MUST PRESENT A COPY OF THEIR MEASUREMENT OR AMATEUR CERTIFICATIONS at the show office before their number can be picked up. All ponies or horses that do not have a current measurement card will be measured at a time and place to be announced. USHJA REGISTRY FEE: All horses competing in Federation nonbreed restricted licensed competitions with hunter, hunter breeding, jumper and hunter seat equitation classes (except those activities enumerated in GR901.1, items 1-9) must be properly identified and must obtain a Registration Number from USHJA. CAMPER FEES: $200. BEDDING: All bedding must be purchased through the horse show office before 12:00 Noon. Outside shavings brought in will be charged a clean out fee of $25 per stall. FOOTING: Rings and warm up areas are a combination of sand and clay. SCHOOLING AREAS: Size 120 x 500 and 100 x 220. Ring sizes: 120 x 245 and 130 x 230. POINTS: All classes will count full points except Class #16 Green Conf. Model and High Performance Hunter U/S will be half points. A PROCESSING FEE OF $50 OR 10% OF THE CHECK WHICH EVER IS GREATER, WILL BE CHARGED FOR ALL NON-NEGOTIABLE CHECKS. PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING: Entries close November 21, 2012, December 21, 2012, January 12, 2013 & March 6, Entries postmarked after closing date will be accepted as post entries up to one (1) hour before the class or until the division is filled with a post entry charge of $30 per entry. Dogs are not permitted to be loose on competition grounds and must be on a leash or otherwise contained. Individuals must not lead dogs on a leash while mounted. Dog owners are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from their dogs behaviors. Dog owners failing to comply with this rule may be subject to penalty under Chapters 6 and 7, as well as issuance of warning cards. WARNING Under the Equine Activity Liability Act, each participant who engages in an equine activity expressly assumes the risks of engaging in and legal responsibility for injury, loss or damage to person or property resulting from the risk of equine activities. MANDATORY HELMET RULE It is compulsory for all persons at Federation licensed hunter/ jumper competitions when mounted anywhere on the competition grounds, to wear properly fastened protective headgear which meets or exceeds ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) SEI (Safety Equipment Institute) standards for equestrian use and carries SEI tag. It must be properly fitted with harness secured. MOTORIZED VEHICLE Minors who do not have a valid driver's license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind, including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles, on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver's license. The parent(s), legal guardian(s), or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from that operation. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule. EQUINE CANADA The Lake St. Louis Winter Festival Horse Show competition is sanctioned as a Gold competition member of Equine Canada, 2685 Queensview Drive, Suite 100, Ottawa, Ontario, K2B 8K2 and is governed by the rules of EC. All Canadian entries are required to hold both an EC passport and a valid EC horse license to compete, or if owned by Temporary Sport License holder, a temporary horse registration form must be purchased at each competition entered. Selection of horses is based on points accumulated in the East (Quebec and Ontario) and West (Alberta and British Columbia) qualifying regions. Standings are tracked at HunterDerby.ca. Class Specifications This high performance hunter class presents competitors an opportunity to best showcase the talents of horse and rider over a challenging course with high performance, handy and take your own line options. The class combines a Hunter Classic with a Handy Hunter class in a one round format. Judging: Each competitor receives a score with 3 components up to a maximum of 120: 1. Hunter score (out of 100) - The class is judged as a handy hunter class with a score 2. High performance bonus (up to 10 bonus points) - Two bonus points awarded for each high performance option taken on course (e.g., higher jump, natural jumps, more challenging line options), at least five options will be offered on course) 3. In this competition, a certain number of obstacles are set up in the arena. Each obstacle carries from 10 to 120 points according to its difficulty. Combination obstacles are not allowed. The obstacles must be built so that they can be jumped in both directions. b. The points allocated to the obstacles may be repeated at the discretion of the Course Designer. If it is not possible to place 12 obstacles in the arena, it is up to him to delete the obstacles he wishes. c. The competitor is credited with the number of points carried by each obstacle that he has jumped correctly. No points are awarded for an obstacle knocked down. d. Each competitor has 45 (minimum) to 90 seconds (maximum). During this time, he may jump all the obstacles he wishes in any order and in any direction. He may cross the starting line in either direction. The starting line must be provided with four flags; a red and a white flag at each end of the line. e. Ringing the bell declares the end of the round. The competitor must then cross the finishing line in one direction or the other to allow his time to be recorded. If he does not cross the finishing line, he is placed last of the competitors with the same number of points. The finishing line must be provided with four flags; a red and a white flag at each end of the line. f. If the fixed time is reached at the moment when the horse is already taking off (front hooves off the ground), this obstacle counts if it is correctly jumped. g. Any obstacle knocked down during a round will not be rebuilt; if it is jumped again, no points will be credited to the competitor. The same applies for knocking down an obstacle in disobedience or for displacing a lower part positioned in the same vertical plane. In the case of a disobedience without a knock-down, the competitor may jump that obstacle or continue to the next obstacle. h. Each obstacle may be jumped twice. The act, voluntarily or not, of jumping an obstacle for the third time or of passing between the flags of an obstacle for the third time or of passing between the flags of an obstacle already knocked down does not incur elimination. However, the competitor does not score the points allotted to this obstacle. i. All disobediences are penalized by the time lost by the competitor. The competitor must stop after a fall. Nevertheless he is placed according to the points obtained up to the moment of his fall disregarding the time. j. The competitor who has obtained the highest number of points will be declared the winner. In the event of equality of points, the fastest time taken between the starting line and the finishing line will decide. In the event of equality of points and time for first place, there will be a jump-off according to the same formula with a fixed time of 40 seconds. k. An obstacle may be provided in the course duly marked by flags and titled Joker. The Joker may be jumped twice; 200 points are awarded each time this obstacle is jumped correctly, but if it is knocked down, 200 points must be deducted from the total points obtained so far by the competitor. l. If by ringing the bell, a joker is required to be jumped within twenty seconds after the fixed time has expired and after the competitor has crossed the finishing line, only one attempt is allowed. 20 18 USHJA INTERNATIONAL HUNTER DERBY CLASS SPECIFICATIONS I. Course Requirements A. Jumps in all Rounds 1. Obstacles must simulate those reminiscent of the hunt field and the course must offer a variety of Derby jumps with different appearances such as: natural post and rail, stone wall, white board fence or gate, coop, aiken, hedge, oxer, brush, logs, natural foliage. 2. Natural obstacles such as banks and ditches are allowed. 3. A minimum 2" difference is required for the back element of an obstacle. 4. Ground lines are not to exceed 18" in depth from the vertical plane of the jump. For appropriate jumps, no ground line is necessary. 5. The jumpable portion of any obstacle must be a minimum of eight feet on its front face. 6. Flat cups may only be used for obstacles involving logs and/or in accordance with Federation rules. B. Classic Hunter Style Round (First Round) 1. A minimum of 10 obstacles must be offered in the Classic Hunter Style Round. 2. Fences must be set at 3 6 to 4 0" in height, exception option fences. No more than 50% of the course may be set at 3 6 in height. 3. The course must include four higher height option fences set at 4 0" to 4 3" in height. If there is a difference in difficulty between any two tracks containing height options, the higher options should include the more inviting obstacles and be on the less difficult track. The number of higher height option fences cannot exceed four and the jump cups on those fences must be normal deep cups of mm. 4. At least one in and out. 5. At least one bending line. 6. At least one line with an unrelated distance. 7. At least one fence with a long approach. C. Handy Hunter Round (Second Round) 1. A minimum of eight obstacles must be offered in the Handy Hunter Round. 2. Fences must be set at 3 6" to 4 0" in height, exception option fences. No more than 50% of the course may be set at 3 6" in height. 3. The course must include four higher height option fences set at 4 0" to 4 3 in height. If there is a difference in difficulty between any two tracks containing height options, the higher options should include the more inviting obstacles and be on the less difficult track. The number of higher height option fences cannot exceed four and the jump cups on those fences must be normal deep cups of mm. 4. The course should simulate riding over hunt country and must include a minimum of three of the following handy options: tight turn options, different tracks, clever options for jump approaches, pen type obstacles, hand gallop a jump, trot a lowered obstacle not to exceed 3 0" in height, execute a walk fence while mounted not to exceed 18" in height. Leading over an obstacle and opening and/or closing a gate(s) while mounted or not mounted is not permitted. Gimmicky options are not appropriate. 5. Unless the prize list states that more than 12 entries are to return for the second round, then only the top 12 horses from the first round, after all ties are broken, are eligible to return for the second round. D. Jump-Off Round 1. A minimum of eight obstacles must be offered in the jump-off round. 2. Fences must be set at 3 6 to 4 0" in height, exception option fences. 3. The course must include a minimum of two higher height option fences set at 4 0" to 4 3" in height. All horses entered in the International Hunter Derby class must jog for soundness during the Official Jog prior to the start of the first round in order to compete. The Official Jog must he held within 24 hours of the start of the first round. This jog will be run in a manner similar to an FEI jog. B. A horse must be officially entered in the class before it will be allowed to jog. C. Proper attire is required (i.e. riding clothes or proper attire which an exhibitor would wear to compete in a model class). D. All horses must be presented at the Official Jog with their actual competition number and wearing a conventional hunter bridle, including noseband. E. The judging panel for the Official Jog shall consist of the competition veterinarian and a minimum of one judge from the judging panels officiating for the class. F. The jog surface must be level. Horses shall be evaluated from the side and following consultation with the veterinarian, the decision of the participating judge(s) is final and binding and not subject to further appeal of any kind. G. If a horse does not pass the jog; the exhibitor may request to re-present the horse to the judge(s). The judge(s) may decide to allow the horse to re-present at any time up to one hour prior to the start of the class. The vet and one of the judges from the original panel must be present. III. Order of Go A. The order of go must be posted a minimum of one hour prior to the start of the class. B. The draw may be performed by hand or competition management may host a computer draw. C. In the case of multiple horses being ridden by the same rider, competition management must preselect draw positions for each horse. When possible, every effort will be made so that there will be a minimum of eight horses (if available) separating multiple rides. All horses must be ridden in the sequence that appears on the jumping order in all rounds of the competition, unless class specifications call for a new order for the second round and/or jump-off. IV. Stabling/Schooling A. All horses competing in the Derby class must be on the competition grounds 24 hours prior to the start of the first round of the class. B. All horses will be monitored and must remain on the competition grounds until the horse is finished competing in the Derby class. Any horse that leaves the premises prior to completing it s participation in the Derby class is disqualified. C. All horses must be ridden in official horse show schooling areas unless competition management designates a specific schooling area for derby horses. Riders must wear the horses competition number while mounted. V. Judges A. There will be a total of four judges for this class. Judges will be seated separately in two panels consisting of two judges per panel. B. Each judging panel may consist of either two R-licensed hunter judges or one R- licensed hunter judge and one r-licensed hunter judge. C. All judges must be Federation licensed and in good standing with the Federation and USHJA. D. No guest cards will be granted for this competition. E. Prior to the start of the class, one judging panel must be designated as the tie breaking judging panel for the first round and another panel must be designated as the tie breaking judging panel for the second round. The tie breaking judging panel for the first round will also be designated as the tie breaking judging panel for the jump-off round. VI. Judging System A. The Classic Hunter Style Round shall be judged and numerically scored on quality, movement, jumping style, manners and way of going. Pace and brilliance are to be rewarded. In addition to this base score, each judging panel must award an Option Bonus Score consisting of one additional point for every higher height option fence jumped. These two scores must be announced separately and then added together to determine each horse-and-rider combination s score for this round from each judging panel. The scores of all the judging panels will be added together to determine the total score of each horse-and-rider combination for this round. B. The Handy Hunter Round shall be judged and numerically scored on quality, movement, jumping style, manners and way of going. Pace and brilliance are to be rewarded. Jumping decorations to utilize a shorter track is NOT permissible. The scores of all the judging panels will be added together to determine the total score of each horse-and-rider combination for this round. D. The total scores of each horse-and-rider combination from each round will be added together to determine their final overall Hunter Derby score. This score will determine the final overall standings for the class. E. A judging assistant must be present during all phases of the competition. The duties of the judging assistant include notifying the Judges if a rail comes down and when a horse jumps the higher height option fences. The judging assistant is not required to be a licensed official and is not responsible for the scoring of the judging panels. A competition staff member may fill this role. F. The Option Bonus Score of one additional point for each higher height option fence jumped must be awarded even if there is a refusal, rail down or loss of good jumping style at that higher height option fence, providing that the horse-and-rider combination does jump the higher height option fence. VII. Tie Breaking Procedures A. Neither judging panel may award the same base score to any two competitors in any one round unless a competitor s score is below the cut-off score. B. All ties in all rounds will be broken by the base score (before adding height and/or handy bonus points) of the designated tie breaking judging panel. C. Unless the prize list states that more than 12 entries are to return for the second round, only the top 12 horses from the first round, after all ties are broken, are eligible to return for the second round. D. All ties for overall first place in the class will compete in a jump-off round. In the case of unsafe conditions preventing a jump-off from being held, the tie will be broken using the second round base score (before adding height and handy bonus points), of the designated jump-off tie breaking judging panel. E. Ties for other than first place in the overall standings will be broken using the second round base score (before adding height or handy bonus points) of the designated jump-off tie breaking judging panel. VIII. Award Presentations A. For all Member Event Series classes, USHJA will provide ribbons for the first round, second round and the overall standings. All riders in the top 12 overall (or their designated representative if they are not available) must ride for ribbons in order to receive prize money. B. Competition management may offer additional awards (e.g., highest placing junior owner, highest placing amateur, highest placing thoroughbred, highest placing rider competing on only one entry in the class) IX. Cancellation Policy Competitions approved to host an International Hunter Derby must hold the class with a minimum of three entries, unless the entire competition is cancelled. Cancelling the class without cause (i.e., an act of God), is grounds for future applications to host an International Hunter Derby to be denied. X. Class Specifications A. USHJA International Hunter Derby classes may only be offered at USEF licensed AA-rated competitions and competitions that have been approved for a Special Competition status B. A minimum of $10,000 prize money must be offered per class. C. Competition management will collect and remit to USHJA the per horse entrant fee of $50. D. The entry fee cannot exceed 10% of the prize money offered and must include the $50 per horse fee. E. In order for International Hunter Derby National HOTY bonus points/money to be awarded, riders must complete the USHJA Exhibitor Declaration Form. If the Exhibitor Declaration Form is not completed and submitted to the show office either at the time of entry or at least one hour prior to the start of the class, horses will not receive bonus points/money for the International Hunter Derby. F. National HOTY bonus points/money are awarded to each horse s respective section as declared at the time of entry. Riders may only declare one hunter section for National HOTY points/money. Only Juniors or Amateurs may declare for the applicable Junior or Amateur Owner section. Horses declared in open sections will be awarded both bonus points and the value of their money won for their declared hunter section, toward the appropriate HOTY standings. G. There is no limit to the number of horses a rider can ride in each class; however, a competition may choose to limit the number of horses a rider can compete to no less than three horses, as long as the competition notifies the USHJA 60 days in advance of the date of the class and such limitation is printed in the prize list. H. Horses entered in this class are not required to show in any other hunter or jumper classes at the horse show. I. If questions arise pertaining to the International Hunter Derby that cannot be answered from the class specifications provided, one of the following USHJA representatives must be contacted to resolve any questions regarding the judging procedures or class specifications: Kelley Mallery-Director of Competitive and Educational Programs Ron Danta-Chairman of the High Performance Hunter Committee Bill Moroney-USHJA President J. A computer ranking system tracks the money won for both the horse and rider. K. The USHJA International Hunter Derby is a featured class of the horse show, and must be presented as such with regard to arena size and location, jump quality, decorations, footing and ring preparation, lighting, etc. The Derby ring must have spectator seating, a quality sound system, and a dedicated announcer with no other duties during the class. An electronic scoreboard is recommended. L. The USHJA International Hunter Derby is a two round class with a jump-off round when necessary. Competition Management may apply to hold the Derby class in it s entirety on one day or may apply to hold the first round on one day and the second round and jump-off (when necessary) on the following day. If the two day format is utilized, the class must be held on consecutive days with the first round on day one and the second round and jump-off (when necessary) on day two. When applying to host a Derby class, competition management must designate the format they intend to follow and apply for the day(s) and date(s) accordingly. Competition management must then list the format they have been approved for in their prize list, schedule, and any other form of advertising for the Derby class. Any request to change the format and date(s) applied for and approved must be made in writing to the USHJA a minimum of 30days before the date(s) of the class and all exhibitors must be notified of the change. M.The course diagrams for each round must be posted a minimum of one hour before the start of the first round, unless the second round and/or jump-off are held at another time. In that case, the course for the second and/or jump-off rounds must be posted a minimum of one hour prior to the start of the second round. Copies of the course(s) must also be available for distribution at the Riders Meeting. N. It is important for competition management to make sure that information on the scoring system is available to spectators. O. The same horse may not compete in the USHJA International Hunter Derby and the National Hunter Derby at the same competition. P. Prize money must be distributed as follows: 30% for 1st, 22% for 2nd, 13% for 3rd, 8% for 4th, 6% for 5th, 5% for 6th, 4% for 7th, 3% for 8th and 9th, 2% for 10th, 11th, and 12th. XI. Miscellaneous A. For all classes, competition management is required to provide copies of the course to riders prior to the start of the course walk and are encouraged to have them available for spectators. B. All classes must hold the following meetings: 1. Officials Meeting should be held prior to the Riders Meeting. Derby Judges, Course Designer, Steward, and Competition Manager are required to meet prior to the start of the class to review the specifications, judging system and to walk the course. 2. Riders Meeting must be held prior to the start of the class. Course designer and at least one officiating Judge and Steward must attend this meeting to answer any questions regarding the course, judging system and class specifications. Attendance by the riders is suggested but not mandatory. Copies of the course(s) must be available for distribution at the Riders Meeting. C. Formal/dress attire required by riders. Buff breeches and shad belly, white breeches and dark or scarlet coat, hunt colors coat or official sponsor or team jacket permitted. XII. The USHJA International Hunter Derby and the related format and specifications are the sole properties of the USHJA and may only be held, conducted or used only upon the terms and conditions specified by the USHJA. USHJA reserves the right to change language in documents related to the conduct of the USHJA International Hunter Derby as necessary for the purposes of consistency and clarity. Any deviations from the class specifications for the USHJA International Hunter Derby are not permitted without the express written permission from USHJA prior to the printing of the prize list.
