1 The Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland SHOWJUMPING 2018 including RHS Potential Sports Horse Under Saddle (Affiliated to British Showjumping) DECLARATION TIMINGS ALL CLASSES WILL BE DRAWN ORDER You must declare at least one and a half hours before the commencement of each class. Those jumping in the first classes which start early may declare the evening before by 6.30pm.

2 (Affiliated to the British Showjumping) JUMPING COMPETITIONS - CONDITIONS 1. All Competitions will be judged under current British Showjumping Rules and Regulations. Attention is particularly drawn to their Rule which states "No member shall allow a stallion for which he/she is responsible as owner, lessee, authorised agent or rider to compete or be prepared to compete, in any show jumping competition without taking adequate precautions to ensure other members of the public are not put at risk of injury" 2. All Competitors must wear Regulation Jackets and hats. Failure to comply may involve disqualification. On the Society's property, anyone on a horse must wear a correctly secured hard hat conforming to the current BSI or European Standard. Headgear must be worn in accordance with British Showjumping Rule Entries for jumping will be accepted up to 5.00 p.m. on 22nd May, both on paper and online. No entries will be accepted after this date (with the exception of those few horses that qualify after this date) In regard to show jumping entries, the Exhibitor shall be deemed to be the rider, and full details of the horse(s) and owner(s), including British Showjumping numbers, MUST be given on the entry form. Entries are confined to horses or ponies registered with the British Showjumping and must be ridden by members. 4. Entry Fees must be paid at time of entry. A Deposit will be required in respect of each stable, which will be refunded if the stable is left in clean and tidy condition. Exhibitors SHALL NOT under any circumstances occupy any stable which has not been officially allocated to them and infringement of this rule will incur a penalty of 80 per night per stable occupied and may lead to exclusion from the Show. 8. Immediately before certain Finals, Competitors may be required to parade in jumping order. Failure to comply may involve disqualification.

3 9. Competitors must be ready 15 minutes before starting time. Horses/Ponies must jump in programme order unless special permission has been obtained from the Steward in charge of Jumping. If a Competitor does not respond when his order number is called he loses his turn and the horse bearing the number called may be eliminated from the Competition in progress. 10. The number of entries in each Competition may be limited at the discretion of the Show Jumping Committee, who reserve the right to refuse or reject any entry without giving reason therefor, or to accept additional entries should the class allow. In the case of the number of entries in any class (excluding finals) exceeding the number which the organisers consider that they can accommodate, then entries will be limited by reference to the British Showjumping Gold League List though always to include the 10 highest placed Scottish riders from that list. Notwithstanding this, the organisers retain the right to limit the number of horses per rider in any class, in any manner which they deem appropriate. In any case, a refund will be made of the relative fees. 11.The Show Jumping Committee reserves the right to alter the times and format of Classes or to cancel any class at its sole discretion. 12. Exercising of Stock and moving from Stables. Show Jumping Horses, Light Horses and Ponies may be exercised only in the designated areas of the Light Horse Float Park and Showground, or by order of the Stewards. 13. Disclaimer of Liability to Exhibitors. The term Exhibitor shall include persons taking part in any competition, exhibition or display arranged by the Society and the owner of any animal, plant, machinery or other thing involved in any such Competition or display or otherwise exhibited on the Showground. Save for death or personal injury caused by breach of its duty the Society will not be responsible for death, injury, disease, damage, or loss caused to any Exhibitor or to his or her servant or agent or to any animal, article, plant, machinery or thing of whatever nature brought on to the Showground by the said Exhibitor from whatever cause death, injury, disease, damage or loss arises. Save as aforesaid the Exhibitor shall indemnify the Society against all claims, damages and expenses whatsoever in any way arising out of the presence of the Exhibitor, his or her servants, agents, exhibits, vehicles or equipment on the Showground and shall assume full responsibility therefor. Acceptance of the foregoing provisions shall be a condition of entry. Exhibitors are advised to insure against fire and other appropriate risk not only as regards their own property but also against any third party claims. 14. Conditions of Admittance. Persons are admitted to the Royal Highland Centre (which incorporates the Car Parks, Royal Highland Showground, including the livestock lines, roadways, Royal Highland Exhibition Hall and other premises) at their own risk and while every endeavour will be taken to ensure their safety the Society will not (save for death or personal injury caused by breach of its duty) be held responsible for personal injury (whether fatal or otherwise), loss of or damage to property or any other loss, damage, costs and expenses however caused. When moving between trade stands, exhibits, rings or public areas, all persons must use designated roads and avenues and must comply with the instructions of the Society's Directors, Stewards, Staff (identifiable by official badge) or by the Police. On no account may members of the public remove or climb over or past pedestrian barriers. Persons entering livestock areas do so at their own risk. In no circumstances may anybody enter

4 the Main Ring, Jumping Ring or Judging Rings without the authority of the Chief Steward concerned. The Society reserves the right to remove from any part of the Showground any person whose behaviour is deemed to be unacceptable for any reason. ANIMAL HEALTH REGULATIONS FOR HORSES (a) Docking - Exhibitors' attention is drawn to the "Docking and Nicking of Horses Act 1949". No horse with a docked tail born in or after 1983 will be permitted to be shown unless it is accompanied by a certificate signed by a veterinary surgeon to the effect that the docking has been carried out in accordance with the Act. (b) Exhibitors are reminded that Equine Viral Arteritis is a notifiable disease in certain circumstances and that animals placed under restriction for this disease must not be brought to the Show. Animals from outwith the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland or France arriving from other Shows in Great Britain must also be accompanied by a Special Movement Licence. On Wednesday of show week, the Divisional Veterinary Manager will inspect your animals and will require to have sight of the Animal Health Certificate and, where applicable, the Special Movement Licence. Owners of animals being re-exported directly from the Royal Highland Show should contact the Society's Official Veterinary Surgeons who will issue a Certificate of Export which the animals will require for their homeward journey. Owners of animals moving to further Shows before re-export must obtain a Special Movement Licence from the Divisional Veterinary Manager who may be contacted at the Royal Highland Show, via the Chief Steward. (e) Any Exhibitor from outwith the United Kingdom, including those from EU Member States, will, in addition to the Society's Animal Health Regulations, be required to abide by all British import and export regulations. Copies of these additional requirements may be obtained from the Society's Livestock & Competitions Manager. (f) It is the sole responsibility of the exhibitor to ensure that their animal(s) will be eligible to return to their Member State of origin, and are accompanied by the appropriate return certification. (g) In the event of new Animal Health legislation being enacted between the date of preparation of this Schedule and the date of the Royal Highland Show, then exhibitors will be expected to abide by any new conditions of that legislation. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR SHOW JUMPING COMPETITORS Approach Roads Proceed towards the showground via the A8 following signposts to Edinburgh Airport. Turn left at the

5 Airport Roundabout, then follow the signs for the GREEN (Light Horse Float) PARKING. Competitors' Vehicles Access to the Light Horse Float Park within the Showground will be restricted to vehicles carrying horses only and which are displaying the appropriate pass. Passes for Light Horse Float Park Competitors are provided with one free pass per exhibitor for each 1-4 horses entered on one day of competition only, for display on their vehicle. Should a second Pass be required for a further vehicle carrying or towing Show Jumping horses this may be purchased from the Society at a cost of (incl. VAT). Passes are restricted to two per exhibitor, for the day(s) of competition. Admission to Light Horse Float Park Drivers and all passengers must be in possession of a wristband, coloured pertinent to the day of competition, before being admitted to the Light Horse Float Park. Wristbands admit to the whole showground and those not in possession of a band will be required to pay to enter via a public entrance. Car Parking in the Other Car Parks Parking in the car parks is per vehicle, per day, payable on the day. via the Show website for 8. Tickets may be pre=bought Caravans Caravans may not be parked in the Light Horse Float Park. Specific caravan parks are provided but the number of sites is very limited. Application forms should be submitted as early as possible if required. Tickets Equine Attendant Wrist Bands, valid for admission on each day of the Show, will be allocated on the following basis: 2 Bands for each horse entered per day. Note: Membership badges can be exchanged for four day Wristbands, prior to the Show, but only by members who are competing Access to Rings To the Jumping Ring: Horses and riders proceed via Gate 9 to the all-weather warm up/collecting area. To the Main Ring: Horses and riders proceed via Gate 9 into the horse walkway and to the Main Ring Collecting Area. Water and Forage Water is supplied to the Light Horse Float Park. Hay Bales will be delivered to those who have pre-purchased tickets at 6.00 per bale - the Stable Manager will arrange delivery on your behalf. Money paid for pre-purchased Hay Bale tickets which remain unused is non-refundable. Admission to Showground Outwith Public Opening Hours Access to the Showground outwith public opening hours will be through the East and North Gates. The

6 Light Horse Float Park Entrance Gate will be closed at dusk. Entrance and exit will be by wristband only. ALL OTHER GATES WILL BE CLOSED OUTWITH PUBLIC HOURS. Four horses will Qualify for HOYS, which must include the highest placed 7 year old horse. ie if the highest place 7 year old is placed lower than 4th, it will take a qualifying position and those placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd will qualify, disregarding those that have already qualified. Exhibitors must declare at the Office by 1.30pm The Balcormo Stud Potential Sports Horse Under Saddle Classes ENTRIES OVER THESE TWO CLASSES WILL BE LIMITED TO 30 Entry Fee Per Class: 30 All entries in these classes must be registered with a recognised Sports Horse Society. Please note that these classes should use the Highland Show ridden horse entry form which is different entry from the show jumping one. To be judged in two phases. A rider may only ride one horse in each class. Snaffle bridles only. Boots will be allowed in Phase 1 - no long boots on hind limbs. No rider may carry, use or permit to be used a whip greater in length than 75cms or less than 45cms in length nor one which is weighted or with a hard point at the end. Spurs may be won, but not of excessively severe design. Running martingales only permissible in Phase 1. Phase 1 All horses will jump in drawn order. There will be a course of 8 jumps. 4 year old jump height 90cm, with vertical and oxer at 1m. 5 year old height 1m with vertical and oxer at 1.05 Phase 2 Clear rounds and selected horses will be invited to return to the ring. The judge will ride each horse, followed by a conformation assessment. For registered horses in Grade "A" to be ridden by adult, associate or junior members

11 Under Table A9 Two Round Competition Speed 375 metres per minute. Course height of fences in the first round - verticals 1.50m approx. Parallels 1.45m approx. The best five scores, or all clear rounds, will go forward to the second round which will be against the clock. In the event of equality, faults and time will decide, i.e. the fastest four faulters will qualify. All scores in the first round will be carried forward to the second round. Competitors in the second round will start in reverse order of merit or the slowest four faulter will go first, the fastest clear last. If necessary, those who do not reach the second round, faults and time in the first round will determine their placings. If a competitor withdraws from the second round he/she will not be replaced and he/she will receive the placing from the first round, however he/she will be placed after those who compete in the second round. At least five prizes have to be awarded. Height: First Round Fences 1-7 Verticals 1.50m approx. Parallels 1.45m approx. To include one triple combination within the first seven fences. Second Round Minimum 9 fences - all raised in height and width from the first round. Points will be awarded to horse/rider combinations placed 8th = or higher on the following scale; 1st 12 points 2nd 9 points 3rd 8 points 4th 7 points 5th 6 points 6th 5 points 7th 4 points 8th 3 points Horse/rider combinations placed equal will share equally the total points attributable to the combined placings (for example, four riders placed 4th equal receive divided by 4 = 5.5 points each). In the event of equality of League Points at the end of the series, the highest placed competitor on equal points in the International Stairway League Final (British Showjumping National Championships, National Agricultural & Exhibition Centre) will be the winner of the League. The winner of the International Stairway League must be a starter in the International Stairway League Final. In addition the winner of the International Stairway League Final will be crowned the British Showjumping National Champion for a twelve month period. There will be 3 HOYS Wildcards allocated after the International Stairway League Final. The allocation of Wild Cards (N.B Wild Cards will only be awarded to riders currently eligible to compete on a Great Britain Showjumping Team) will be made in the following order of preference -: 1. To the winner of the International Stairway League (must have started in the Stairway League Final) 2. To the winner of the International Stairway League Final

To the winner of the National Championship Show League Should the winner of any of the above not be eligible to compete on a Great Britain Showjumping Team or have already qualified for HOYS via an International invitation, the Wildcard will go down the line to the next eligible rider on the respective league, or placing if in the International Stairway League Final. 7 ANDREW BLACK HAULAGE AND STORAGE OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP Kindly Sponsored by Andrew Black Haulage and Storage, Drem, East Lothian.
