WHERE : Trails are typical coastal forest terrain pine Bottle Lake Forest, Christchurch* needles, gravel, some sand etc and are mainly flat with some slight undulations along with CLASSES : some long straight sections for all classes. 3 Race Details Bib Draws Bib draws will be held at a location to be announced, on Friday 7pm and Saturday 7pm. You or your proxy must attend the bib draws. Please notify the Race Secretary as soon as possible if you do not have one. Star ng Intervals Rig Class one-minute interval; 6-dog/4-dog class starts first, followed immediately by 2-Dog Freight/3-dog/2-dog class. Scooter Class 30 seconds interval; 1-dog class starts first, then a ten minute gap, followed by 2-dog class. Bikejoring Class 30 seconds interval; 2-dog class will start first, then a ten minute gap, followed by 1-dog class. Sunday there will be no 2-dog class. Canicross Class mass starts. Juniors Beginner and Juniors Advanced Class 30 seconds intervals; Juniors Beginner class starts first, then a 2 minute gap, followed by Juniors Advanced. Each class has a ten minute gap between them including 1 and 2 dog bikejoring on Saturday. Race Temperature 1 For the safety and well-being of the dogs the Race Giving Organisation (RGO ) may cancel or shorten a race if deemed to exceed allowable temperature (13 C). Race Headquarters and Loca on For this event the race headquarters will be at the race location, in Bottle Lake Forest. *Harvesting at many other nearby forests this year require Bottle Lake forest to be the planned location, if scheduled harvesting at Chaney s Forest has not started we may relocate (5min drive) On-Call Vet The on-call vet for the race is Total Veterinary Services (03) , 10am-2pm Sat/Sun, after hours Class / Dog Changes Class changes will only be permitted prior to Sunday 8 th July 2018 by notification to the Race Secretary. The only exception to this is when a musher is required to drop down a class due to dog injury or illness, and is at the discretion of the RGO. Dog Changes will only be permitted 30 minutes prior to the Bib draw by notification to the Race Secretary. 1 RGO Canterbury Sled Dog Club Inc. 3

4 Minimum entries for freight *Please note that a minimum of 3 entries must be received and paid for this to run, if less than 3 are received, you maybe asked to change to another class. Temporary Membership For public liability insurance purposes, all race entrants must be a member of an NZFSS affiliated club. If you are not a member, the Canterbury Sled Dog Club Inc. (CSDC) can offer you a temporary membership to cover you for this event for $5.00 per entrant. Juniors Advanced Race Competitors must have some prior experience and be capable of handling a single dog team on their own, marshalls will however be onsite throughout the trail. Raffle Raffle tickets can be bought throughout the weekend at $2 each or $5 for three. The raffle draw will be at the prize giving. Catering at the forest There will be soup and some light snacks available at the forest. A coffee van will also be on hand for your coffee and hot chocolate needs, EFTPOS will be available. Catering at Prize Giving on Saturday and Sunday Prize giving on Saturday night and Sunday noon will be held at a location to be announced in the catalogue, dinner will be provided on the Saturday night and light snacks on the Sunday. 10 Terms and Conditions of Entry I understand that participating in this activity organised by the Canterbury Sled Dog Club Inc. carries with it the inherent risk of physical injury, including serious injury such as permanent disability, paralysis and even death. In consideration of being allowed to participate in this activity, by signing above I agree to release and hold harmless the Canterbury Sled Dog Club Inc. in the event of my injury. I have read and fully understood this waiver and agree to release the Canterbury Sled Dog Club Inc. from any liabilities for any injury or other losses I incur, including the clubs' acts of negligence, to the fullest extent permitted by law. The entry form must be signed and payment made in full prior to the start of racing, or you will not be permitted to compete. Smoking or lighting of fires is strictly prohibited in the forestry by all persons at all times. Vehicles must drive with lights on to the designated race parking area within the forest, the rest of the forest is out of bounds All vehicles will be checked to ensure the above requirements for vehicle permit are met, trailers will also be checked for WOF and Registration, NO PERMIT = NO ENTRY TO FOREST Safety approved helmets are mandatory in all classes except Canicross. Any musher arriving at the start line without a helmet will not be permitted to race. Gloves are recommended. Effective lights headlight and/or taillight are mandatory for dusk races for the safety of the mushers. Necklines connecting double lead dogs are mandatory. Dogs must be on leash or securely restrained at all times, at the race venue and at race headquarters. Dogs must be at least 12 months old on the day of the race, except for bikejoring which is 18 months old. s must read and be familiar with the NZFSS rules. [nzfss.org.nz/rules] All dog wastes are to be disposed of by owners, all holes filled in, and all rubbish removed from the forest and from race headquarters. Do not bring any dog to the event that has been exposed to any contagious disease, particularly kennel cough. Cancellations Refunding of entry fees will apply to cancellations received before Sunday 8th July 2018 by notification to the Race Secretary. Please allow up to 14 days for the refund to be processed. You may go only where directed for races - the rest of the forest is out of bounds. The RGO and their agents reserve the rights to capture and use for any purposes any still photographs or video footage taken over the race weekend, along with mushers' profile that may be provided. These images may be collected by any means including but not limited to race photographers, trail cameras and UAV's. By signing below you acknowledge acceptance of this and waive any claim to royalties or commissions that would otherwise be claimable. As the RGO takes the health and safety of all competitors, members and the public seriously, I agree to follow all procedures, policies, lawful instructions and signage relating to health and safety. I also agree to take all practical steps to ensure the safety of myself and others at the race. In accordance with the CSDC Health and Safety plan, no persons are to approach any dog/s without permission from the owner and no dogs are to be left unattended. In the event of un-sanctionable temperatures or extreme winds the RGO reserves the right to postpone, cancel or alter the race event. The RGO reserves the right to refuse entries. 10

11 Maps and Accommodations While the RGO is not organising accommodation this year, we recommend you contact either the Spencer Beach Holiday Park or 219 On Johns Motel & Holiday Park, as mushers are able to stay there with their dogs. Spencer Beach Holiday Park Spencer Beach Holiday Park is located less than 5 minutes from Chaney s Forest entrance, and has very reasonable rates. s wishing to stay there will have to complete a Pets by arrangement form as requested by the operators, and return it to the holiday park when booking.
