SCHEDULE 2017 Sunday 16 th July Closing date of entries: 7 th July 2017 (Show Jumping Entries on the day unless otherwise stated) General Rules and Regulations: 1. Intending exhibitors are requested to peruse the rules and regulations and be prepared to comply with these. 2. The Show Committee reserves the right to alter or cancel any class or competition at any time. 3. The Show Committee takes no responsibility for any accident or loss. 4. The Show Committee has the option of cancelling or amalgamating any class where less than three entries have been received. No prize money will be awarded to 2nd prize unless five compete, no 3rd prize awarded unless six compete and 4th prize only given where otherwise stated where a minimum of eight entries compete. This rule will be waived should the Judge consider there is special merit and record same in their book at time of Judging. 5. Prizes for certain classes may be given in the form of product/ voucher instead of cash.

2 6. Objections must be lodged with the secretary before 6.00 on the evening of the show, and must be accompanied by a deposit of 50 which will be forfeited if the objection is not upheld. 7. Exhibitors are to understand that although every reasonable precaution will be taken to ensure the safety and welfare of the animals, the Show Committee will not be responsible for loss or accidents, of any kind that may occur, neither will the society be accountable for any accident that may occur to any person attending the show, whether as a visitor, exhibitor or otherwise. 8. The Show Committee shall not in any way be liable for any claim for compensation or otherwise arising out of the holding, abandonment or postponement of the show, nor for any claim arising out of or connected with the show. 9. The decision of the Judges will be final. 10. Anyone found interfering with any exhibit or disarranging any display will be asked to leave the show grounds. 11. For the convenience of exhibitors, the Show Committee has arranged that a veterinary surgeon will be on call at short notice to attend to sick or injured animals but fees for his/her services will be payable by the owners concerned. 12. Winners of cups in 2016 must give an undertaking to Newcastle West Show Committee that the Cups will be returned to the secretary at least 10 days previous to the date of the succeeding show, and in as good condition as they were received. 13. The Show Committee reserve the right to alter conditions of competition for the cups in future shows, or to withhold the cups if the Judges do not find sufficient merit in the competition. 14. IN THE DIVIDE CLASSES 6 ROSETTES WILL BE MARKED. -HSI SPORT HORSE FOAL CHAMPIONSHIP-Ring 1 HSI SPORT HORSE FOAL CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFIER 2017 Class 1- Regional 3 Qualifier: Waterford/Kerry/Limerick/Cork (Please Note: Foals will be permitted to enter one regional qualifier but will not be confined to entering the qualifier in their own region). Horse Sport Ireland is pleased to announce the details of the 2017 Sport Horse Foal Championship. The Championship has a prize fund of almost 30,000 and will aim to identify, evaluate and reward

4 breeders who have bred a foal that has the potential to be competitive at the highest International level in the disciplines of showjumping or eventing. There will be 6 regional qualifiers with separate sections for potential showjumping foals and potential eventing foals. The qualifiers will be held in August with 3,000 prize money on offer at each of the 6 regional qualifiers where 4 foals will be selected for the final; the best show jumping type colt and filly, and the best eventing type colt and filly. A pot of 10,000 will be on offer for the final where two Champions will be named, Champion Show Jumping Foal and Champion Eventing Foal. There will also be a special prize for the overall best traditionally-bred foal. The final will be held in September/October and a pot of 10,000 will be on offer for the final where two Champions will be named, Champion Show Jumping Foal and Champion Eventing Foal. There will also be a special prize for the overall best traditionally-bred foal. Criteria for entry Foals must be registered in a studbook that is a member of the WBFSH or Weatherbys (pending DNA where this can be verified by the studbook is acceptable) and should be shown with their dams where possible. Foals are only permitted to enter one regional qualifier but will not be limited to competing in the region in which the owner resides. Foals must be entered in either the Showjumping Section or the Eventing Section. They cannot compete in both sections. The dam s passport should be available on the day for inspection. All foals must be a minimum of 6 weeks old to compete at the Final. All foals must be named in order to compete in the Final. Judging Criteria: There will be two judges for each category of Show jumping and Eventing. Foals will be judged according to the following criteria. 1. Functional conformation 2. Walk 3. Trot 4. Canter 5. Overall athleticism and balance 6. Pedigree The judges will be provided with pedigree and performance information for each of the foals. Riders must be 16 years or over by Jan 1 st in current year. Horses should be ridden in a snaffle, pelham or simple double bridle. Horses should be plaited.
