1 2018 Toronto Open, Sunday July 15, 2018 Registration Information 1. Early Bird Registration Ends Tues July 3, EST. Final registration will be Sunday July 8, EST, there will be no on-site registration. Please see more information below. All registration will be done online through Sportdata. 2. Toronto Open is open for all Karate-Kas, non-okf or OKF members. However, there will be a registration difference. Please register athletes in appropriate according division. On Sportdata there will be designation for Members and non, then divisions will be combined, for example: Elite 16 to 17 Female Kata OKF-Member Elite 16 to 17 Female Kata Non-Member 3. All coaches are asked to register on Sportdata by Sunday July 8, OKF Coaches will be allowed to use their 2017/18 OKF Coaching Passes. All other coaches will be provided separate wristbands on the day of the event. 4. The RECREATIONAL divisions will be divided into Novice & Intermediate levels. Novice Level is for beginner athletes from white to orange belt, the Intermediate level is for beginner athletes from green & above. 5. The ELITE division is available to athletes from Youth to Senior categories. This division is intended for advance karateka s who wish to compete against the best of their age category. These athletes will be able to register in the following categories: Youth (12-13), Cadet (14-15), Junior (16-17) and Senior (16+:kata; 18+:kumite; 17+:Open Weight). 6. There will be TEAM KUMITE divisions available this year. Teams can consist of 2-3 athletes, following categories will be available: Junior (14-17) and Senior (18+). 7. Please note that you are only able to compete in either recreational or elite categories, not both. The exception is if you are doing Recreational Kata and Elite Kumite or Elite Kata and Recreational Kumite, either or is allowed. Participants registered will be monitored and adjusted accordingly. 8. Draft draw sheets and tentative schedule will be posted on Monday July 9. Sensei/Head Coaches will be able to check draws for any missing athletes and corrections needed, deadline is Wednesday July Final Draws & Event Schedule will be on Friday July 13. No-onsite Registration or Changes! 9. Competition fees: All Recreational, Junior Elite Divisions (2 divisions) Registration Price OKF Member $45 Non-OKF Member $55 Elite Senior Divisions All athletes (1 division) $65 + additional Senior Division $15 Team Kumite ** (Teams of 2-3 athletes) $75 ** Dojo will receive free Team Kumite Entry for every 20 athletes registered. 10. 2 2018 Toronto Open, Sunday July 15, 2018 Tournament Information Please ensure that your athletes, officials and parents are aware of the following: 1. The tournament starts at 8:00am. SHARP!! Starting off with All Junior Elite Kata categories. 2. Athletes will be called to the tatami. Athlete s name will be called out three times at the tatami area to ensure they are present. Please be at the venue on time, no refund will be given for missing your division. 3. Only athletes competing and coaches will be allowed to be on the tournament floor. 4. Parents are advised to stay in the grand stand, and behind the barriers around the tournament floor. Please refrain from entering the tournament floor. 5. Venue Entrance fee is $5. All guests will be given a wristband upon arrival, entrance into venue and stands only with wristband. 6. Competitors will only be allowed to wear White Gi. 7. Mouth guards, groin protector, foot protection and knuckle pads are mandatory. Glasses are not allowed, however if necessary, only proper safety glasses with straps will be allowed. 8. Chest protection is required for all Elite Division competitors. 9. Divisions could be merged dependent on number of registered athletes, coaches will be informed ahead of time with their approval. 10. All Senior Open Weight Kumite, Senior Kata & Junior/Senior Team Kumite will have cash prize depending on number of applicants. 11. 4 Rules & Regulations Kata Divisions Recreational Individual - 2 athletes performed simultaneously and judged by flags, repeat of katas is allowed Elite Individual - Katas Judged by Flags, no repeat of katas Competitors must select between Elite and Recreational. Elite Categories are not for Team Selection. Elite Categories, competitors should have Red & Blue Belt Recreational Categories, regular knockout bracket, no reprecharge Elite Categories, regular knockout bracket with reprecharge Some divisions might be merged dependent on number of registered athletes. Kumite Divisions Recreational Kumite Divisions All Recreational Kumite Bouts will be - Running time of 2min Elite Kumite Divisions - All Kumite Bouts are 2mins - Mens will be 3mins Divisions with 3 or less athletes will be round robin format Divisions with 4 or more athletes will have regular knockout and reprecharge format Competitors must select between Recreational and Elite. This Event is NOT for Team Selection. Some divisions might be merged dependent on number of registered athletes. Team Kumite Divisions Bout Duration All Kumite Bouts are 2mins. Mens Finals Bouts will be 3mins. Divisions will have regular knockout. Teams can consist of 2 to 3 athletes. Order of athletes shall be given to Ring Referee prior to Bout.

5 2018 Toronto Open, Saturday July 14, 2018 Multi-Sport NCCP Training Ontario Karate Federation is proud to announce they will be hosting a multi-sport NCCP Training Module at Markham Pan Am Centre on the eve of the Tournament. This module will be open for all OKF & non-okf Members. Take this chance to increase your knowledge with other Karate-Kas & other sport discipline coaches. We will be offering the Developing Athletic Abilities Module, please find description of the course below or on the NCCP Website. Developing Athletic Abilities After completing the 8.75-hour Developing Athletic Abilities module, you will: Be able to implement general and sport-specific training protocols and methods to effectively develop or maintain the athletic abilities necessary for your sport; Know how to apply training principles and variables to training methods that build fitness, endurance, strength, speed and sport-specific conditioning; and Be able to select and adapt testing and training protocols.
