2 .0 CONTEXT FOR THE BMX Challenge # CENTRAL INTERREGIONAL EVENT We wanted to offer the kids something different from the usual flat racing, and decided to hold the event at the IJG Trails Farm Windhoek pump track. By the end of the day, the team manager had decided to approach local sponsors for a pump track in just what we want for BMX-ing to take root in the regions! BMX Vertigo supplied their 6 and 0 bikes for the day's racing.

3 .0 PARTICIPATION AT THE BMX CHALLENGE # EVENT This was our first central inter-regional event. Teams from Omaruru, Okahandja, and took part. There were also kids from Windhoek clubs: PAY, Vertigo, St Georges, and Rock and Rut. Above, some of the BMX Omaruru kids, and next, the team

4 Registration began as soon as the registration team was ready for action, and ended at :00. Participation by age and gender AGE Total all ages GIRLS BOYS TOTAL BMX RACE DAY FORMAT Using the narrow pump track meant that the customary 8-rider motos were all reduced to -rider motos. Because of impending rain, participation motos were reduced from three to two. Racing began at :00, and the event ended around :0.

7 When they weren't riding, the kids were watching closely... Because of the constant threat of rain, there was no formal break... Inbetween their motos, kids received a free hot dog and cool drink, thanks to RMB Namibia's sponsorship, and the St Georges catering team. While the racing was going on, the RMB Namibia team prepared a participation certificate for everyone, and as kids finished their participation motos, they received their certificate. 7

9 .0 WINNERS By the time the finals had been completed, a light rain was falling. That didn't dampen the spirits of onlookers as Ray from RMB Namibia handed over gold, silver and bronze certificates to winners in the five age groups 8 and under, 0 and under, and under, and under, and 6 and under...anita Witt, NCFs media officer was there to record the occasion, surrounded by several kids, all determined to be in the front row of onlookers....
