1 SCUTTLEBUTT Volume 40, Issue 8 AUGUST 2007 Dear Friends, PRESIDENT S MESSAGE It looks like the rains have left us and the dog days of summer are upon us. Which brings us to the time to think of the upcoming nomination of the next slate of officers. I will be looking for a committee of three members to select these people. We need to be reminded that the life of this club, as in any other, is in the participation of the duties it takes to keep the flow of business and activities for each year. We are looking forward to the ice cream and cake scheduled for the August meeting. It s hard to pick my favorite between watermelon, ice cream or beans and cornbread. I would also remind folks that it is not too early to start picking up toys, money and supplies for The Children s Center in Bethany for Christmas. Stay cool and we ll see you at the August 21 meeting. All correspondence for the club should be sent to the address above. GENERAL MEET- INGS are held on the third Tuesday of the months of January thru November. Meetings commence at 7:00 p.m. and are held at Will Rogers Garden Center at 3400 N.W. 36th in Okla. City. Ownership of a Model A Ford is not required. All members are welcome to attend the Club BUSINESS MEET- INGS, which are held on the first Tuesday of each month at a location designated by the President. MEMBERSHIP DUES; Local dues are $10.00 per year. Membership in the Model A Ford Club of America is a requirement for membership in the Sooner Model A Club. National dues are $30.00 per year. Members are expected to pay their own MAFCA dues. The SOONER SCUTTLEBUTT is the official publication of the Sooner Model A Club, Inc. Call Bobby or Mary Middlebrooks, Autaugaville, AL 334/ MOIST CARMEL APPLE CAKE 1 pkg (2 layer size) yellow cake mix 1 pkg (4 serving size) Jell-0 Vanilla or French Vanilla flavor Instant Pudding & Pie Filling 3 Granny Smith apples, peeled, coarsely chopped 1 C. water 4 eggs 1/3 C. vegetable oil 20 Kraft Caramels, unwrapped 1/4 C. Milk Preheat oven to 350. Grease and flour a 12 C. fluted bundt pan or a 10 tube pan. Beat cake mix, dry pudding mix, water, eggs and oil in large bowl with electric mixer on low speed until blended. Beat on high speed 2 min. Gently stir in apples. Pour into prepared pan. Bake 50 min. to 1 hour or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 20 min; remove from pan. Cool completely on wire rack. Microwave caramels and milk in microwaveable bowl on HIGH 1-1/2 min. Stirring every 30 sec. until blended. Cool 10 min. until slightly tickened. Drizzle over cake.
