1 State Association Conference Call May 5, pm MDT USA Racquetball is the National Governing Body for the sport of racquetball, recognized by the United States Olympic Committee, and is committed to excellence and service to our members. We provide the infrastructure and organization for racquetball. We also provide competitive opportunities for members and enthusiasts through our coordination of racquetball organizations, development and administration of rules and programs, sanctioning of events and development of teams for international competition.

5 Verifying Completed Results If you submitted memberships to USAR, it will be noted since the ability to submit the results will be based upon USAR entering the memberships Please, however, make sure to check all the memberships listed as needed against the membership applications submitted to USAR Credit cards can cause problems if declined so please keep those applications accessible in case alternative payment is needed to process membership If they signed up at another event, make sure to view the copy and note the event If they signed up online, verify online at the event that they are current or make sure you see the membership confirmation (ensure it is for membership and not a subscription) Check at least once a month to see if tournaments have been completed Please contact USAR immediately if you are having any issues with the results. USAR will do our best to work with you and not penalize the event.

6 Effect of Results on Refunds January was the first month that sanction refunds were officially based on the submittal of results. There were many tournaments that were missing their results and still had memberships not current these memberships will come out of the quarterly rebates. The events without results submitted were counted as not qualified and the state would not receive a refund for that event. It also makes the event non-qualified for purposes of the quarterly rebates.

7 Change to Refund Criteria Effective 6/1/2009 Tournaments results sent to the National Office for input will no longer receive sanction refund.

16 2009 Leadership Conference When: September 17th - 20 th Where: USOC Colorado Springs, CO. How Much: The cost to stay at the USOC will be $45 per day (includes meals and shared room). Arrival will be Thursday evening, the 17th or Friday morning. We will start at 9 a.m. on Friday and finish on Saturday evening 5 p.m.

29 Insurance Litigation and Concerns Litigation is on the rise Without insurance coverage, anyone who is involved in a tournament becomes exposed to potential litigation (officials, tournament directors, state associations, sponsors, clubs, etc.) More clubs are requesting proof of insurance coverage before approving events to be held at their facilities Make sure your tournament directors and clubs know that insurance coverage is available for sanctioned events

30 Requesting an Insurance Certificate Don t wait until the last minute (cannot guarantee a certificate) Use the insurance certificate request form to ask questions of the club/facility needing the certificate (contact tmorse@usra.org if you don t have this form) Send the information requested on the form to tmorse@usra.org (the actual form does not need to be filled out)

37 Sanctioning Fees Base fees: One day shoot-out: $50 Multi-day event: $100 If a sanctioning application is received 7-14 days from the start of a tournament, an additional $10 will be charged for the sanction fee. If a sanctioning application is received by USAR less than 7 days from the start of a tournament, an additional $20 will be charged. Tournament kit 2 nd day ($20) or Overnight ($25) fees will also be assessed

38 Sanctioning Refund Criteria Event must be sanctioned before event start date Sanctioning fee must be paid to USAR prior to event to be considered as sanctioned To receive full benefits of sanctioning, submit information and payment at least 3 months in advance Event cancellations, name changes, and date changes must be submitted to USAR immediately: hizzett@usra.org No more than 14 days after an event, all players must be current members or LEM with fees paid in full to USAR No more than 30 days after event, results must be submitted IF USA Racquetball submits results, then NO Sanction Refund is given

39 Sanctioning Name In order to minimize confusion, the name must include the following: Year of event State abbreviation (NOT State Association abbreviation) Name of event EXAMPLE: Turkey Shootout for ORA in 2007 would then become 2007 OH Turkey Shootout

40 Membership Rebate Criteria Based on the number of events that meet the Sanctioning Refund Criteria during a quarter Rebate subject to percentage of qualified events: % NO Rebate % Prorated 90+% Full Rebate No events in quarter = no rebate

41 Limited Event Membership Upgrades As of 12/1/2007, the Limited Event Membership UPGRADE is no longer an option. Please pass this information along to your tournament directors. Limited Event memberships are still available
