1 MEDIA RELEASE 30th October 2006 BOX DRAW THROWS SCHWEPPES VIC PETERS CLASSIC FINAL WIDE OPEN The Schweppes Vic Peters Classic Final next Saturday night looks like being a wide open affair after some fantastic performances in the heats last Saturday. The first heat was an exciting affair when 7/1 chance Carnage Maker jumped straight to the front and led till the shadows of the post only to be run down by the fast finishing favorite Talk s Cheap who came home strongly to win in Heat two saw the Tony Brett trained Queen Lauryn from box 8 run down early leader Tricode Flojo to win by a length in the very slick time of Heat three and the Dean s came to the fore with kennel mates Jeff Hand and Gun Hand quinellering the semi Final in Once again the Dean s have managed to get two greyhounds into the final of a Group event. A fantastic effort when you consider the team is a lot smaller than it used to be. Heat four was the fastest of the semi finals and was taken out by Ross and Marie Burtons very smart sprinter Gold Mambo who defeated the hot pot Fergalicious in another boil over. Fergalicious took the lead early as expected but couldn t hold off the finishing burst of Gold Mambo who motored home along the rails to set the time standard of With only 15/100 of a second separating all the heat winners, patrons who attend the final next week are guaranteed of a great race. There will be plenty of other action at Wentworth Park on Saturday with a back to the 60 s night planned. Free entry to anyone dressed in 60 s gear, a twist competition with an MP3 player as a prize, a display by 60 s dancers and a jumping castle for the kids. Has the most experience of any finalist around Wenty with 21 starts and a top record of eight wins. Trainer certainly knows how to win a big race but you think he would have to lead clearly at the first turn, Will start big odds, place chance with luck. Has a win on the track but that was from box one. Would have to open up a big break to win and from box five no easy assignment. Is capable of leading all the way but can t afford any mistakes.

Won his heat in then was run down by Talk s Cheap in his semi-final. Has an outside chance if he can cut over from the wide draw, but will need some luck in running to win. Chased home hard last week to run down Fergalicious in A repeat would put him well in the finish, not without some hope but needs to be in the right position. Place chance for sure. Queen Lauryn (Qld) 5 starts ($7,760) Token Prince Cheeky Sprite Black Bitch December '05 Owner: Hawkins Family Syndicate Trainer: Tony Brett Wentworth Park best: (1) (2 Starts 2-0-0) Lightly raced Queenslander in top kennel. Has yet to taste defeat in her short career, won her semi well storming home to score in from box one. Big ask from box eight and she ll need to begin better than last week to win. Well fancied to run a nice race, trainer no stranger to the dais and will give her every chance. Look for a bold effort. Ashby Bale 28 starts ($27,205) Hallucinate Gold Rush Bale Victorian sprinter with a fair bit of experience, was a little disappointing last week but could run a drum if he gains a start. Beverage 9 starts ($1,535) Monsters Inc Hospitality Local that came into the semi as a reserve last week ran around for his third. Vic Peters night this year will take on 60 s theme night. Any person coming to the track dressed in 60 s gear will gain free admission and the bonus of being charged drinks at 60 s prices (about a $1.00 a drink). Plenty of great old 60 s classics will be played throughout the night over the public address. Plus a twist competition with an MP3 player as a prize, a display by 60 s dancers and a jumping castle for the kids. There will also be a Dinner for the connections of each runner in the final. Honour Roll The Vic Peters Classic is the oldest feature event on the NSW GBOTA's Calendar, this traditional classic, age restricted event (open to greyhounds whelped between July 1 and June 30) was first conducted in 1951 and known as the Annual Classic'. It was re-named the Vic Peter's Memorial Classic in 1962 in honour of and on the passing of Vic Peters, the first Secretary of the Association (1939 to 1961). The word memorial' was dropped from the race's title in The Classic has been won by the likes of Black Top, Shapely Escort, Sammie Sparrow, Woolley Wilson, Tegimi, Alpha Brava, Brother Fox, Worth Doing, Go Wild Teddy, Collision and last year by star sprinter Cromlah Bale.
