1 de l Association Canadienne de soccer 2013 SEASON Dear Friends, We are very excited to kick-off the 2013 season of the Canadian Soccer Association s Active Start Soccer Fests. This exciting festival program is the largest national grassroots soccer program in the country, connecting hundreds of clubs and communities. The Active Start Soccer Fests program, previously known as Mini Soccer Festivals, is an internationally recognized youth development program targeted at children under the age of 11. The goal of the festival program is to introduce the sport of soccer to youth through a fun-filled event for both children and their parents. Games are played on downsized fields using smaller versions of balls, nets, and simplified rules, with an emphasis on fun, participation, and good sportsmanship. Teams are comprised of 6-7 players and are made up of both male and female participants. The term Active Start comes from the Canadian Soccer Association s long-term player development model, Wellness to World Cup. Active Start is the first of seven stages in the Wellness to World Cup player development pathway. This pathway promotes maximum player retention for both optimum wellness and sporting excellence. For more information on Wellness to World Cup please visit To apply to host a festival, applicants must be affiliated with a soccer club in good standing with the Canadian Soccer Association and its member Provincial Associations. Once approved, organizers can expect to receive cash grants and promotional materials from the Canadian Soccer Association and its sponsors, to run the festival event in the local community. Many clubs hold a festival as their annual season opener or year-end tournament. Clubs are allowed to apply for up to three festivals in a calendar year. Active Start Soccer Fests bring together Canada s local and regional soccer programs in a fun, family-oriented atmosphere. If you would like more information on the program and are interested in applying for a grant to run a festival through your own club, please visit You may apply online to host a festival or you may also apply by filling out the attached festival application form and submitting it by fax at We do ask that you apply as early as possible to allow us to process your application in full. The application deadline for the 2013 season is April 28, 2013 so be sure to apply soon to secure your spot. Please note that for select festivals additional support will be provided. Please note that if your club is in British Columbia or Nova Scotia, a provincial tournament form must be completed. 2 ACTIVE START SOCCER FESTS OBLIGATIONS (A) (B) (C) Name of Festival The primary name of your festival is Active Start Soccer Fests The event must be referred to under this name in all marketing and promotional materials, including your website Sponsorship Exclusivity Terms Banners No sponsor will have more than one sponsor banner and this banner can be no larger than 3 x 8 All banners are to be prominently displayed in main gathering area (e.g. Soccer Fields or other high traffic areas). Sponsor Approvals All clubs must confirm local sponsors at time of application Club can add additional sponsors up to 2 weeks prior to event as long as there are no conflicts and the sponsor is approved for participation in the event by The Canadian Soccer Association. After this 2 week deadline, no further sponsors can be added to the event The Canadian Soccer Association reserves the right to add additional sponsors to the festival program up to 2 weeks prior to event. In areas of category conflict, the Festival sponsor rights supersede the rights of the local club sponsor. 3 FESTIVAL SPONSOR EXCLUSIVITY TERMS (A) (B) (C) (D) (E) (F) (G) (H) Amway has sole exclusivity in the category of vitamins, minerals, health supplements, cosmetics and women s skin care products and direct selling or multi-level marketing businesses. No other financial institution or credit card will be granted any sponsorship or other similar rights in connection with your festival other than BMO Bank Of Montreal. The phrase financial institution means any entity which is a bank, trust company, mutual fund company or issuer, investment manager, adviser and/or broker, securities dealer, and/or credit union, credit society or similar association, and/or an entity that has a line of business which includes the provision of financial services, including but not limited to money-lending, deposit-taking, credit cards, asset management for institutional, private, or mutual fund investors and/or mortgage insurance. Canon has the exclusivity in the following categories: Business Equipment, Camera Equipment and Medical Equipment. Chevrolet has sole exclusivity in the category of Automobile manufacturing. Kumon Learning Centre has exclusive rights in the category of Tutoring Services, defined as any supplemental education provided to school-aged children. Nutella has exclusive rights in the category of Food / Sandwich spreads. No other insurance company will be granted any sponsorship or similar rights in connection with your festival other than State Farm. Teck has the sole exclusivity in the category of Mining or metals.

Active Start Soccer Fests would not be possible without the support of the Canadian Soccer Association s Festival Partners, so it is important to ensure that giveaways be delivered to the participants in an effective and organized manner. This is the responsibility of the club contact to do so at some point during the Festival.
