1 ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE PERIOD TO On behalf of the Executive Committee, I am glad to place before you the annual report relating to the management and activities of the Kottayam District Rifle Association. Thomas Vayalil - Chief Instructor We are indeed proud to have Dronacharya Awardee Prof. Sunny Thomas (Mekkattu House, Uzhavoor) as Patron of our Association. MEMBERSHIP At present we have 490 members (4 Patron, 344 Life, 122 Ordinary & 20 Junior). ACTIVITIES We have arranged Shooting Practice on 2 nd Sunday and last Sunday of every month from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm at the Nattakom Shooting Range. Now many members are utilizing the shooting range for regular practice and attendance of members have also increased when compared to last year. Sufficient tables and chairs were purchased for the use of members at range. WEAPONS Our Association is having stock of the following weapons. Alphonse T Vayalil South Zone Shooting Championship Competition was held at Idukki from 6 th to 10 th November 2013 and the following persons attended and won Gold and Bronze. 1. Jibin Kurien T J.22 Lr Peep Sight 50M Individual Bronze The following Shooters qualified for the National Shooting Championship Competitions at New Delhi 2. Jibin Kurien T J 3. Srawan Jawahar 4. 5 All the above four competitors attended the 57 th The National Shooting Championship Competitions from 11 th to 24 th December Sri. Jibin Kurian T J and Sri. Srawan Jawahar got into Indian Team selection Trials. This is a big achievement for our Association. All members are requested to make use of the good facilities that are available at our Nattakom Shooting Range. Special practice can be arranged on request. The Executive Committee nominated the following five members as the representatives to the Kerala State Rifle Association and Sri. Dominic Mathew is our representative to the District Sports Council. Mohan Jacob Copies of the Memorandum of Association and Rules & Regulations of The Kottayam District Rifle Association were distributed to all Executive Committee Members for observing and adhering to the same. The Executive Committee decided to follow a procedure for the admission of new members. The procedure is as detailed as below:- 1. The candidate shall submit the application in the prescribed form to the Secretary. 2. The Secretary shall include such applications in the Agenda of the next Executive Committee meeting. 3. If the majority of the Executive Committee Members accepts the application, it shall be forwarded for Police verification. 4. The candidate will be admitted only on getting a favourable Police verification certificate. 5. Junior Members can be admitted on getting a certificate from the Head of the Institute regarding their character and antecedents. Children of members can be admitted on the recommendation of the member. The Executive Committee authorized Sri. Stanley Scaria and Sri. Titto Abraham Kainady to update the present Membership Directory and the process is on going. The Executive Committee authorized Sri. Dominic Mathew and Sri. P. C. Joseph to find a new office building for The Kottayam District Rifle Association. They found a convenient building and we have shifted our office to building No.XLIV/463, Malayalam Hire Purchase & Leasing (P) Ltd., Behind Malayalam Fuels, Rotary Centre Road, Kodimatha, Kottayam Phone : , Mobile: The Executive Committee applied for Pan card and the PAN No. is AACTT3634R dated 17/05/1988. The Executive Committee decided that, members who have minimum 25% attendance should be eligible for Active Membership Certificate. We have put up a Notice Board and a Suggestions and Complaint box at the Shooting Range for use of all members. We have not received any suggestion or complaint till date. 5

6 The Executive Committee decided to amend the Memorandum of Association and Rules & Regulations of The Kottayam District Rifle Association suitably after studying the Memorandum of Association and Rules & Regulations of other Rifle Associations. Prof. Sunny Thomas, Sri. P. C. Joseph and Sri. Joseph Kuruvilla were authorized to submit a draft proposal for amendments. Matter is under progress. The Kerala State Rifle Association Secretary has informed vide their circular that the KSRA share of membership fee of Rs.500 is enhanced to Rs The District Competition and the AGM were conducted smoothly with help and support of all Executive Committee Members and shooters. The Kerala state rifle Association has instructed has all shooters to avail Shooters ID Card from KSRA for participation in State Shooting Competitions. We conducted a shooting practice at St. Antony s Public School, Anekkal with the support of Sri. Roy Mathew, George Mathew, Thomas Vayalil and Samson George. Rs 5000 each is paid to Sri. Dilip Kumar (Team leader), Jibin Kurien T J, Sri. Srawan Jawahar and Smt. Alphonse T Vayalil as a token of appreciation for their performance in the National Shooting Championship Competitions. We were not able to conduct the Talent Hunt as instructed by the Secretary, KSRA due to the non co-operation of Sri. Thomas Vayalil who is the Chief Instructor of the Kottayam District Rifle Association as well as an Empanelled Coach of the Kerala State Rifle Association. As per CIR/038/2014 dated of the Kerala State Rifle Association, we were instructed to conduct the coaching camp for 7 to 10 days in the month of July/August before the conduct of the District Shooting Competitions in August. Sri. Thomas Vayalil, Chief Instructor was requested to conduct the coaching camp. The coaching camp was not conducted but the District Shooting Championship was conducted as per schedule. Ordinary members are requested to clear their dues before the Annual General Body meeting. Team Manager s Report 46TH KERALA STATE SHOOTING CHAMPIONSHIP 2013 PALAKKAD 19TH SEP - 22ND SEP, 2013 Representing Kottayam District Rifle Association there were eighteen shooters who participated in the 46th Kerala State Shooting Championship Kottayam won three 6

7 bronze medals in total and we had nine shooters who qualified to participate in Pre- National/South Zone Shooting Championship Competitions conducted by NRAI. Ron George V (Bronze medal in.22 opensight rifle) Our performance in the shooting championship competitions were much better compared to previous years and it will keep improving in the coming years. The Kottayam District Rifle Association remained the only district team which had no penalty for shooting below the scores prescribed by the Kerala State Rifle Association. This highlights the quality of our shooters. SOUTH ZONE SHOOTING CHAMPIONSHIP 2013 IDUKKI, KERALA 6TH TO 10TH NOVEMBER, 2013 All the nine shooters qualified for the South Zone Shooting Championship Competitions were performed well representing Kerala State Team. Cheriyan K kalarickal, Jibin Kurian T J and Jose Antony (Idukki) has won Gold medal in.22 peep sight prone event. Jibin Kurian T J won individual bronze medal in the same event. Three shooters of the Kottayam District Rifle Association were selected to participate in the National Shooting Championship Competitions ( NSCC) held at New Delhi in December List of shooters qualified for NSCC Alphonse T Vayalil 2.
