1 Straight Away News September 2017 The SCTA just passed its 69th anniversary year of racing on the famed Bonneville Salt Flats; we had many records set and red hats given. After a long winter with lots of rain and Intrepid mining company s pumping effort, we are seeing increased thickness of the salt. We were able again this year to have three courses, with lots of hope for a fourth course but it just wasn t ready yet. The weather was nice, lines weren t bad and lots of wonderful people made it a great week of racing! Thank you to all the SCTA/BNI volunteers who worked hard getting the event together and working to provide the best course conditions each night. We are very lucky to have such dedicated volunteers. Thank you to the El Mirage Ladies Auxiliary for their on the spot support and longer term follow up concern as needed. In addition, we are very fortunate to have a skilled recovery team with experienced Paramedics, EMTs, Fire Rescue and our own extraction team. Thank you to everyone for your involvement. We were thankful to have had many vendors supporting our event. The Enola Gay Cafe was our food vendor this year and was enjoyed by all. Thank you to our official sponsors for your generous support, Stand 21, ARP automotive racing products, Comp cams, Dynamat, Indian Motorcycles, Lucas Oil products Inc., Speed Demon Racing Team, Performance Motor Oil Plus, Safety-Kleen, Speedway Motors and Museum of American Speed. Also in support of the event was the City of Wendover and local businesses, Mayor Mike Crawford, the owner of the local Car Quest Auto Parts store. Thank you also to John Hanson, Director of Casino Operations and owner of the local storage yard. We are fortunate to have so many people in town who continue to take care of us each year.
