1 Softball: : Congratulations to Tori Valdivia for being selected as one of South Orange County's top area senior Softball all-stars. This is a rare privilege as 98% of all-stars are typically selected from division 1 through division 4 high schools. The game is run by The Ryan Lemmon Foundation and Tori will be representing the Blue Sox team. The game will be played on Tue 6/4, 6:45 PM at Bill Barber stadium in Irvine, and will be televised on Cox channel 3. Boys Tennis: : Justin Zhang advanced to the CIF Round of 16 with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Victor Chang, the #1 player from Santa Monica. Niko Ramadan battled Austin Rapp from Palm Desert, and lost a tough match 2-6, 6-7. Congratulations to both Saints for being the only athletes from a private school making the round of : The Boys Tennis Team finished their best season in the 2nd round of CIF Dvision 2 playoffs with a narrow loss at La Canada on Friday This capped a 13-4 varsity season : The Tennis Saints had a 13-5 win over Sunny Hills in the first round of the D2 playoff. Singles players Nikolas Ramadan and Justin Zhang swept three sets. The doubles team of Bret and Even Kittelsen also swept three sets. The team advances to the CIF second round match on Friday, and the overall team record is now 13-3.

2 5-2-13: It was an all Saints singles final in the Academy League Tournament. The Tennis Saints Nikolas Ramadan, Justin Zhang and Callaghan McDonough captured first, second, and fifth place in singles. In doubles, the teams of Bret and Even Kittelsen, Blake Smith and Olen Kittelsen, and Luke Barnard and Brooks O'Hea finished in third, fifth, and ninth place : The Boys Varsity Tennis Team took the high ground in the first day of the league tournament. The highlights were Justin Zhang and Niko Ramadan both making the singles semifinals today with straight set victories. In doubles Bret and Even Kittelsen are also playing in the semis. Callaghan McDonough will be playing for fifth place in singles and Olen KIttelsen and Blake Smith will be playing for 5th place in doubles : The Boys Varsity Tennis Saints finished the regular season with a 14-4 win over Oxford. They had a best-ever season with an 12-3 overall record while finishing the league in second place. The JV team had a narrow 8-10 loss to Oxford and finishes Tuesday with a match with Tarbut V'Torah varsity : The Boys' Varsity Tennis Team clinched at least second place in the Academy League with a 11-7 win over St. Margaret's. The Saints are now 11-3 for the season : The Saints Varsity Tennis Team had a very close match at Whitney resulting in a narrow 8-10 loss. Six of the wins came from strong singles play by Niko Ramadan, Justin Zhang and Callaghan McDonough : The Varsity Tennis team won their match with Estancia Doubles teams swept all of their sets and Justin Zhang swept in singles. The Saints set a new record with 9 wins in a season. The JV team also won by a score of The JV team is also having a record breaking season : The Saturday edition ( 3/30) of the OC Register highlighted six of the top freshman tennis players in Orange County that included Saints doubles players Bret and Even Kittelsen with their 20-4 record. Also in CIF news, Nikolas Ramadan was selected for the Ojai High School Open tournament in April. This is the most prestigious tournament in California. Nikolas is also the first Saint to qualify for this tournament. His peak ranking of #2 in Southern California and national ranking of #36 in Boys' 16's facilitated his selection.

3 :The Boys Varsity Tennis Saints repeated their breakthrough play from last week with another 13-5 win over Sage Hill. Nikolas Ramadan, Justin Zhang, and Callaghan McDonough won all of their singles matches. Doubles Team Bret and Even Kittelsen swept their matches. The Saints overall record is now : The Saints Varsity Tennis Team completed their best week ever with back to back wins at Sage Hill and St. Margaret's. The 11-7 win at St. Margaret's on Friday was another first for our tennis team. Outstanding play by singles players Niko Ramadan, Justin Zhang, and Callaghan McDonough provided an 8-1 advantage. The Saints are now 7-2 overall : The Varsity Tennis Saints had a huge win over Sage Hill All three singles players, Callaghan McDonough, Justin Zhang, and Nikolas Ramadan swept all of their matches. The total singles game count was The most exciting set was a come-from behind tiebreaker victory in doubles from Olen Kittelsen and Blake Smith after being down 2-5. Bret and Even Kittelsen won their match with Sage Hill's top team 6-3, and Greg Bracco and Brooks O'Hea won a close 7-5 doubles set. The Saints overall record is now : The Boys Varsity Tennis Team made an outstanding effort and came within a couple of tiebreakers of winning a match with last year's CIF finalist Whitney on Thursday. The score was Bret and Even Kittelsen continued outstanding doubles teamwork by sweeping three sets : The Crean Lutheran Saints Boys' Varsity Tennis Team had a narrow 8-10 loss to Div. 1 Capistrano Valley. The Saints singles players Niko Ramadan and Justin Zhang swept all three of their sets and the double team of Bret and Even Kittelsen won two out of three for the 8 total wins. The Saints overall record is now : The Boys Varsity Tennis Saints celebrated a spectacular performance in Newport Beach after a 10-8 win over Division 1 Newport Harbor. Justin Zhang swept three singles matches including a 7-5 win over one of the top players in Southern California. The Saints made a great comeback after a 2-4 first round : The Crean Lutheran Saints won their tennis match with the Costa Mesa Mustangs 17-1 Friday at Costa Mesa. Callaghan McDonough swept playing #1 singles. This extends the Saints record to : Redlands HS Friday evening. The Crean Lutheran Boys Tennis Team won a thrilling 9-9 match going down to total games won The doubles team of Zach Radoff/ Brooks O'Hea went from down 2-5 to winning a tie-breaker 7-3 as the courts grew dark. Justin Zhang swept singles again and the freshman doubles team of Bret and Even Kittelsen also swept their matches. The Saints are more balanced this year with equal numbers of wins from singles and doubles. The season record is now 2-0.

4 : The Boys Tennis Saints won their opening match with JSerra The doubles teams swept all nine points for the first time. Freshmen Luke Barnard, Bret and Even KIttelsen won all four of their sets in their first match as Saints. Swim & Dive: : Saints Soph Ella Eastin was named OC Register Swimmer of the Week after her county-leading 500 Free performance Sat., March 23, 2013: With 34 teams in attendance at the 41st Annual Mission Viejo Invitational, including 7 from Northern CA, 5 from San Diego area, 4 from Inland Empire & 3 from LA County, the Crean Girls finished 5th. Double Gold Lindsey Engel broke Meet Records in the 50 Free (& also the 1st in the County to break the 23 second barrier) & 100 Back. The 200 Free Relay of Lindsey, Ella Eastin, Emily Eastin & Lauren Maurer broke the Meet Record in finishing 1st ; the 200 Medley Relay comprised of the same ladies also won Gold just missing the Meet Record. Also, just missing the Meet Record was Ella who took Gold in the 200 Free; Ella broke the Meet Record in the 100 Fly but as just touched out taking Silver by just 0.09 of a second. ALL THESE TIMES MADE THE ALL-AMERICA TIME STANDARDS. Emily posted a Bronze in the 200 IM & a 5th in the 100 Free, both Automatic CIF Qualifying times. Lauren also made a CIF Automatic Qualifying time in the Morning Prelims 200 Free. Freshman Casey Fulkerson improved all her times, swimming the 200 & 500 Free + anchoring the 400 Free Relay. Also, swimming on this relay were Lauren + Lizzie & Tricia Saylor. Winter SPORTS NEWS: Basketball-girls: Crean Lutheran 46 Oxford Academy Crean Lutheran 53 Brethren Christian Crean Lutheran 48 Sage Hill 36: Bianca Couzens scored 17 with 3 3- pointers, and Lisa Yamashita added Crean Lutheran 35 Oxford Academy 15: Lisa Yamashita and Vanessa Couzens each scored 10 points. Highlights include not 1, not 2, not 3, but FOUR- yes 4 goals from Kara Peak! Well done! The other two goals, not to be over looked were from Mandy Reyes and Aubrey Sorht! Congratulations on today's and yesterday's wins! o The Varsity girls were able to reverse last year's result versus CCSA (0-1 loss) with a resounding 3-0 win. Two goals were scored by Maddie Beavers and the third goal was scored by Katie Kneefel. It was the girls' 6th shutout of the year. Girls Soccer-Ontario Christian Tournament, Dec Girls soccer finished 2-2. Maddie Beavers scored 5 goals in 4 games. Meghan Shoemaker was selected to the All-Tournament team. Wrestling: : At the Arrowhead League Finals 4 out of the 6 wrestlers qualify to compete in CIF. We had undefeated league champions at 113 lbs Robert Grey, 160 lbs Nate Wood, and 170 lbs Justin Laughlin. Connor Webster will be advancing in the 154 lb weight class after earning a 2nd place wining 3 hard matches. At 195 Chris Weller had a record of 2-2 but was unable to place at one of the tougher weight classes in our league. I am happy with the performance of our guys last night.
