An open admission institution that views learning as a life-long activity, the College provides transfer and career programs and continuing education courses to challenge and support students regardless of age, color, disability, national origin, race, religion, sex or sexual orientation. Harford Community College Athletics Visitor s Guide Harford is a fully, Division I member of the National Junior College Athletic Association, sponsoring 14 varsity sports which compete in the NJCAA s Region XX in addition to conference competition in the Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference, commonly referred to as the MdJuco Conference. The intercollegiate athletic program provides the opportunity for eligible student-athletes to represent the institution in high-level competition, while enhancing their educational experience in areas of skill development, teamwork and sportsmanship. The teams also provide spectators and fans institutional pride as a rallying point for the college community and the Harford County area. Outstanding facilities and coaches are a hallmark of the program. Harford s teams are nicknamed the Fighting Owls, which was chosen during the institution s early years, when it was largely an evening college and the nocturnal nature of the Owl represented that fact. The name has come to symbolize the lone and storied history of athletics at the College

Travel north toward Churchville for approximately 6 miles to the traffic light at the intersection of Rte. 543 and Rte. 22. Turn right on Rte. 22 to the light at Thomas Run Road. Turn left on Thomas Run Road. The College campus is on the right. From the North (Wilmington, Philadelphia, New York): Take Interstate 95 S to Exit 85 Aberdeen (HWY 22 West). Travel I-695 to I-95 North Follow directions from the South Athletic Facilities: Susquehanna Center (Basketball, Volleyball) Undergoing a major renovation and Arena addition during the academic year, Susquehanna Center has served as the indoor home of Harford athletics since The new 2,600-seat arena will replace the existing Susquehanna Gym as the home of Harford basketball and volleyball, and will feature primarily chair back seating for spectators, a center-hung scoreboard, and state-of-the-art locker rooms and amenities. During fall 2011, home volleyball games will be played across Thomas Run Road from campus at Harford Tech High School. Home basketball games during the season will be played at the old Aberdeen High School, 253 Paradise Road, now known as the Center for Educational Opportunity. Harford Stadium (Soccer, Lacrosse) Harford Stadium is a 1,000-seat field turf facility. The stadium, which was built in 1968 and most recently updated with an artificial turf surface in 2007 and covered bench areas in 2009, is lighted for night games and also contains a small press box area. Harford Sports Complex (, ) The HSC Field playing surface was updated in 2008 and is lighted for night games. The field has seating for 500 spectators as well as large, permanent dugouts for home and visiting teams, a small press box, and a new electronic scoreboard display for The HSC Field features a field turf surface and has outfield fences 200 feet from home plate. The field features large, permanent dugouts for both home and away teams and has a 150-seat capacity for spectators. In late 2008, the field was outfitted with a brand new, state-ofthe-art scoreboard display which operates solely on solar power. Tennis Courts Harford s eight, hard-surface tennis court are being replaced as part of the Susquehanna Center renovation during Home contests this year will be played at various sites throughout the area. Golf Course Harford utilizes the Ruggles Golf Course off Exit 80 (Route 543) from I-95 adjacent to the Aberdeen Proving Grounds. Cross Country Course Plans are to develop a course on campus for the fall, 2012 season.

Buses may drop off riders from any roadway or parking lot space. Bus parking is available at the T lot, between Thomas Run Road and the Harford Stadium. Cars or vans at Harford Stadium events (soccer and lacrosse) and the Harford Sports Complex baseball field, may use Entrance One off Thomas Run Road for the T lot. For volleyball, the Harford Tech gym parking is available off Thomas Run Road across from T lot on the opposite side of Thomas Run Road. Basketball and tennis parking will be dependent upon the various sites for these events during this year of renovation to Susquehanna Center. For softball, use the W lot, located at the campus Entrance Six off Churchville Road (Route 22). When C lot or W lot are filled, space is usually available in T lot. All campus parking spaces are open, except those designated by specific signage. College Security issues tickets for traffic and parking violations. High speed driving, reckless driving, and failure to yield to pedestrians may result in revocation of operating privileges on campus in addition to a fine of $150. The maximum speed limit on campus is 15 MPH. Admission/Tickets: Admission to most regular season sporting events at Harford, other than men s and women s basketball, is free. Basketball tickets cost $5 per person, although Harford students and staff are admitted free with a valid Harford ID. Post-season athletic events held at Harford Community College have varying ticket and admission policies.

The training room is located in the Harford Sports Complex building, adjacent to the outdoor fields. Please notify our training staff prior to the day of the contest if your team will be traveling without a trainer and will need special services. A Certified Athletic Trainer will be accessible, and a physician and/or medical emergency facilities are quickly accessible. You are asked to bring your own supplies. Water, ice, and basics will be accessible. This information applies to all sports at your school which may be visiting our campus. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact the Harford Athletics Training Room. Sports Information Services: Sports Information Director: Kevin Carver Sports Information Phone: (443) The Harford sports information office will provide visiting baseball, basketball, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis, and volleyball teams with complete game statistics. We report the results to various Baltimore area media outlets in addition to posting them to our website, Video clips, highlights and interviews are also posted at the site. Visiting team sports information directors may request that Harford phone in or fax results and highlights to other media outlets (please call Harford s SID with such requests). Numerical rosters and contest information will be provided as game program inserts. Locker Room Facilities: Locker Rooms and showers are not available for visiting teams during the academic year due to the renovation and addition project for the Susquehanna Center. Each team must provide for their own needs during this time. Harford athletics apologizes for this inconvenience during this year of transition. Please be patient in that this challenging year will be followed by the benefits of a state-of-the-art indoor venue on the Harford campus beginning in the fall of Athletics Media: The athletics department at Harford Community College is proud to be partnered with WHFC 91.1 FM and teamline.cc for various audio broadcasts of Harford athletics. Also, the Harford Cable Network telecasts occasional contests on a tapedelayed basis. Harford also provides live play-by-play statistics through Live Stats from Stat Crew for many home events. 5 Fan Policies: Harford is committed to helping you enjoy your experience at each of our athletic venues. Please keep the following guidelines in mind when tailgating at Harford College athletic events. Failure to adhere to any of the policies below will result in expulsion from the event. Pets Animals (other than assist/guide animals) are strictly prohibited at all Harford athletic facilities. No animals should be on the premises, tethered outside, or left to wander the grounds at any time. Alcohol/Tobacco Both alcohol and tobacco are strictly prohibited on the Harford campus and athletic facilities. The possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages or tobacco products will result in immediate dismissal from the venue. Sportsmanship For the protection of the participants, the fans, and in the spirit of good sportsmanship, the NJCAA and Harford Athletics ask that you respect these rules Please cheer for your team, and respect your opponents at all times while refraining from using any profane, racist, or sexist language.
