Like always, Steve Gilmore will be smoking extra turkeys as a fundraiser, $25 each. Order early. The birds will be ready to be picked up Sunday the 20th. If interested in a savory bird ready to heat and serve on Thanksgiving, contact Terry Cullender at terrycullender@yahoo.com or phone The birds will be approximately 12 lbs and we are limited to smoking about 20 so order early. The games will be similar to last year starting with the famous Wolf Chase. Bring your old Long Tom or goose gun and see how you do. There should be a flurry event on the 5 stand field so bring your semi-auto with the plug out or just be quick reloading your over/under. 3 Recipe Corner Biscuit Flatbreads Submitted by Linda Cullender Ingredients 1 can jumbo refrigerated buttermilk biscuits 2 ¼ lb thin-sliced deli ham cut into strips 3 ¼ lb thin-sliced swiss cheese cut into strips On a lightly floured surface, roll each biscuit into a circle about 4 inches in diameter. Brush the grate with oil or spray with nonstick cooking spray, preheat to medium- high heat. Place the flattened biscuits on the grill. Close the cover and cook until the bottoms are golden..(1 to 2 minutes). Using tongs or heatproof spatula, flip the biscuits and top with ham and cheese. Transfer the biscuits to the upper rack of the grill or off the direct heat. Close the cover and cook until the bottoms are golden and the cheese is melted. Oven Fried Chicken Tenders Submitted by Linda Cullender 1. Soak chicken tenders for 10 minutes in any of the following: Buttermilk, sour cream, yogurt, egg white or mayonnaise. 2. While the chicken soaks, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. 3. Choose 1½ cups of any of the following coatings: Cornmeal, crushed crackers, crushed cereal or seasoned bread crumbs with salt & pepper 4. Remove tenders from the marinade and roll them in the crumbs. 5. Arrange coated chicken tenders in a single layer on an oiled cookie sheet and drizzle with melted butter or olive oil. 6. Bake for 20 minutes serve with your favorite sauce. John Slocum and Randy Walhood installed the new air compressor in the old maintenance building and Bobby Sherrill spent hours wiring in up. Jeff Zwiebel and Randy have done a lot of digging and plumbing repairing irrigation leaks in field 3. The rifle range was put in good order for the Savage Demonstration by Jim Wilson and John McGlone with sweeping, washing and mowing. Dale Holder ordered new shooting stools, welded some target frame holders and coordinated with the Savage representative to make that happen. Jay Phillips and Terry Cullender emptied the trash and did misc. chores to help also. Brad Ambrose as usual organized the same volunteer group to load targets in the skeet and trap houses. But the really big bad job was done by our heroes, John Slocum, Randy Walhood, Jeff Zwiebel and Bill Schweitzer who found the freezer in the maintenance building that had lost power full of turkeys some time ago. The cleanup spanned Saturday and Sunday and was as bad as you can imagine. Be sure to give them big thanks when you see them. 3

GPGC Swap Meet 2011 Saturday the 22nd was a Swap Meet at the club of guns and related equipment located at the main building while on the rifle range Chuck Mande, a Savage Representative held a demostration of some of the newest Savage rifles. The rifles complimented with free Hornady ammunition were a hit. They ranged from.17 HMR to a 300 win mag and were all sighted-in tight for nice groups. Chuck said he would come again another day and you can depend on another Swap meet in the future so see you next time. 4

The Report from The Registered Line Greetings skeeter dudes and dudettes! Little birdies, not of the clay variety, finally chirped to my address with information on September and October registered shoots. As the skeeting crowd knows, a lot went on during those two months, so here goes the brag-fest. The first shout-out is for a good cause, the Cowtown event at Fort Worth Trap and Skeet that raised over $10,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), an organization whose goal is to assist in the successful, well-adjusted reintegration of our nation s wounded warriors into civilian society (go see www. woundedwarriorproject.org). GPGC member (and former Marine Captain) Richard Parr s team, Bravo Zulus, raised the most money for the WWP at the Cowtown event. Richard, who was SU CH (89), was not the only GPGC member who took home honors. In the Doubles event, Jim Speer took RU overall with a 95, as well as Veteran CH. Howard Huber took B1 (91). In the 12GA, Jon McDonald nabbed AA1 with his 100, and also won AA1 in the 28GA with a 98. Richard Kummer was B1 in that same gun with a 97. Gene Stewart won 3rd overall and SS CH in the.410, and also took A1 HOA (389). In the Dallas Gun Club s Southwest Classic Mini, GPGC shootist showed they could handle the new format with ease (three events, 50 each of doubles, 28 GA and.410 bore). In Doubles Robert Paxton was HOA and AAA1 with a 99, as well as RU with a 199. Howard Huber brought home B1 with a 94. In 28 GA Mary Di Giovanni took A1 with a 49, while in.410 it was Robert Paxton again as AAA1 & SS CH (50), followed by Jon McDonald, AA1 (50); Gene Stewart, A1 (50); and Jim Speer, VT CH (47). Robert Paxton followed up his Mini wins at the Dallas Gun Club by having a repeat performance in the Southwest Classic Main, shooting off against a slew of 100s to win Runner-Up and Sub-Senior CH in both the 12GA and 20GA events. In the 12GA, Glea Davis won D1 outright with a 98, as well as C1 HOA with a 376, while Jim Speer bested two other 99 s to win VT CH. During an outrageously windy weekend at the Houston Gun Club s Best of Texas event, Robert Paxton won the HOA outright with a 396, as well as the HAA outright with a 494. He also took RU & SS CH in the Doubles event with a 98. In the 12GA and 20GA, Jim Speer won VT CH with a 98 and 93, respectively. In the 28GA, Robert Paxton was RU & SS CH (100). Also in the 28GA, Elizabeth Hoskins won A1 by shoot-off with a 96. Robert Paxton won AA1 in the.410 with a 98. Mike Gerschick won B1 in HOA (377). Jim Speer won B1 in the HAA (460). 6 At the U. S. Open in Waco, our very own Ginny Warren stuck her toe in the big-time pool with a D1 win in 28 GA (91); congratulations Ginny! Glea Davis took C1 in.410 (95) and C1 HOA (377), while the legendary and always gentlemanly C. W. Dagnal was VT CH (97), C1 Doubles went to Richard Mc Carter (92), while Mary Di Giovanni took Lady Group 2 1st (91). GPGC shooters continued their winning ways in the World Warm Up at the San Antonio Gun Club. A shout-out for Elizabeth Hoskins LY CH 20GA (97) & LY CH 28GA (97); some darn fine shooting in some darn hot weather! In the Pre-Mini World at the National Shooting Complex, Elizabeth Hoskins showed that she s making a habit of winning taking 12 GA: LY CH, SU CH & B1 (50) Other GPGC winners showed their stuff at the Mini-World & World Championships. In the Mini there were, Doubles: Glea Davis C1 (97); Jack Davis, SU31 (99); 12GA: Robert Paxton, RU & SS CH (100). 20GA: Robert Paxton, SS CH (100). 28GA: Gene Stewart, Ducks Unlimited CH & NRA CH (100);.410 bore: Jim Speer, VT CH (98); Gene Stewart, Ducks Unlimited CH & NRA CH (97), while HOA went to Jim Speer, VT CH (388). In the World Championship, Jack and Glea Davis took the 12GA Grp. 2, 293) and.410 bore (184) 2-Man Husband/Wife; Robert Paxton was 20 and 28 GA SS CH (100 each); while Elizabeth Hoskins teamed up with non_gpgc member Joe Buffa to take the 2-Man Military/Civilian CH (196). Robert Paxton came back on the field to take 3rd & SS CH (100) in.410 bore. HOA went to Robert Paxton, 3rd & SS CH (449); Jim Speer, VT CH (438); and Jack & Glea Davis, 2-Man Husband/ Wife Group 2 1st (852). HAA was awarded to Robert Paxton with his AAA1 & SS CH (100). Doubles went to Jack & Glea Davis, 2-Man Husband/Wife Group 2 1st (174); Elizabeth Hoskins & John E. Barnes, 2-Man Group 3 1st (190); and Elizabeth Hoskins & Minka Williams shot well for the 2-Lady CH (186). Keep an eye out for the upcoming Skeet Shooting Review, where bragging on GPGC shooters will go national. You ll see Glea Davis podium pic for earning Lady 3rd in the Mini-World Doubles event, and several glamour photos of Robert Paxton for his Runnerup win in the Mini-World 12GA event, 3rd overall in the World.410 championship, and 3rd overall in the World HOA. Outstanding, Glea and Robert! OK guys, this concludes the Report From the Registered Line. Remember, if you don t tell me about it, or get a friend to tell me about it, I can t brag on you! Send your brags to maryannjenkins@me.com.

.22 cal. Pistol Silhouette Shoot October 2011 Oct. 22: We had 4 shooters at the MSPS match this morning. The weather was nice and there was a gentle occasional breeze. It was probably the fastest match in history as we were done in about an hour. With only 4 shooters we were able to shoot 3 rounds before having to go down to reset the targets. All 4 shooters were using open sights this morning, so we only had 1 winner - Floyd Jester. Floyd won shooting a 54/60 with his M 617 S&W revolver, two hand hold. Congratulations, Floyd! Our next match will be on Saturday, November 26th at 9am. Waddle on over after eating too much for Thanksgiving and work some of that turkey off by getting a set up the targets workout! 8 GPGC Bullseye Pistol October 2011 October 5: It was a nice evening, and in the 80 s. We are finding that the sunlight is going fast, so we had to get on with it to be able to finish being able to see our sights and targets. We had 7 shooters tonight: Ed Dotson shot 262-7Xs, using his M ACP and a red dot with a one hand hold. His rapid fire target, scoring 95, had 5Xs!! I was second with 262-4Xs, using my 10 barreled Ruger Mk II, iron sights, with a 2 hand hold. Hoa Nguyen shot 261-6Xs, using his S&W M 52, with a red dot sight, one hand hold. October 12: We had 7 shooters tonight. It was a pleasant evening, no rain or wind, and the heat was gone. Hoa Nguyen won with 273-4Xs, shooting his M 52 S&W with a red dot sight, one-handed. Ed Dotson came in 2nd, Group that shot Oct. 5th scoring 251-7Xs, shooting his M ACP with a red dot sight, and one-hand hold. I was 3rd, shooting my 10 barreled Ruger Mk II, with iron sights and 2-hand hold. Thanks to Meredith Turney for taking the pictures and Ron McCuller for the use of his cel phone camera. As you can tell from the pictures, the light at 6:50 PM is getting too poor to really shoot good. The score sheet is below. Dan Brown October 19: Tonight s bullseye shoot had 5 shooters. The weather was nice and cool. Hoa Nguyen won tonight and Ed Dotson came in second. Meredith rejoined the group after missing several shoots with a wrist injury. We all missed Dan, and wish him a speedy recovery. Dan Brown had an ankle replacement Oct. 19th so he will not be roaming around the gun club for a few months. The pistol group misses him but the events are still on schedule. Keep Dan in your thoughts as we all wish him a speedy recovery. 10 Thursday Doubles League It s gonna be close; we might get wet. Those words rang true on the final night of the skeet league, and in more ways than one. While the last week of the Fall Doubles league was threatened with rain, the scores had been close as well. The league was run as a 6-week ladder competition with a finals night on October 27th to decide a winner at each level. Going into the finals, the top four of eight teams had almost identical averages and near identical points, so the prizes were anyones game. Unfortunately, the weather threatened cold and wet. Everyone rushed to get our shooting in, but first mist, then rain, moved in around 6:15PM. Some threw in the towel, others stuck it out. On the first field, Five Guys (Steve Hambrick, Don Ambrose, Matt Slay, Rick Johnson, Ron Pennington) faced off against Dead & Dead (Josh Wells, Todd Ward, Jim Hundley, Kevin Forehand, John Basilone) for the first place buckles. Go Figure (Bill Weatherby, Jay Philips, Buz Owens, Mike Gerschick, Gerry Bradford) and The Fun Bunch (Terry Cullender, Brad Ambrose, Bill Schweitzer, Don Kovatch, Charles Richerson) were shooting it out for custom caps on the second field. On luck field three, Claybusters (Kerry Williams, Gene Wills, Gerald Evatt, John Nix, Brad Fitzgerald) and Grumpies (Mike Shuping, Dan Spence, Darian Mock, Jim Barrett, Ben Loup) each set their sights on the engraved key chains. And on the last field, Modified Chokers (Ted Shaw, Ed Crater, Andrew Wyer, Scot Hollman, Scott Lauer) and Phantom Menace (Adam Kolek, Name Average Class Overall Adam Kolek 6.30 D 85 Andrew Wyer D 221 Ben Loup D 240 Bill Schweitzer C 275 Bill Weatherby C 277 Brad Ambrose D 270 Brad Fitzgerald D 274 Buz Owens D 237 Charles Richerson D 234 Dan Spence C 288 Darian Mock B 264 Don Ambrose D 208 Don Kovatch D 223 Ed Crater D 235 Gene Wills B 298 Gerald Evatt D 274 Gerry Bradford D 130 Jay Philips D 243 Jim Barrett D 265 Jim Hundley C 296 John Basilone D 264 John Nix C 203 Josh Wells B 294 Kerry Williams B 262 Kevin Forehand D 225 Matt Slay D 197 Mike Gerschick B 315 Mike Shuping D 214 Nicholas Kolek D 178 Rick Johnson D 259 Robert Martinez 6.90 D 90 Ron Pennington D 145 Ron Talley D 189 Scott Lauer D 194 Steve Hambrick D 276 Ted Shaw D 173 Terry Cullender B 293 Todd Ward D Nicholas Kolek, Robert Martinez, Ron Talley) loaded their pouches to the brim to try for the leather toe rests. On the first field, the teams decided they would let their absent scores decide the winner. Dead & Dead won the first round and overall to claim their victory. On field two, Go Figure shot early and was able to show great scores to win. Field three were unable to field compete teams and ended up just dividing out the keychain prizes. Field four saw each team shooting in the rain till cold and Modified Chokers were able to get those toe rests (to cover their cold blue toes). There were individual awards to hand out as well. With 315x350, Mike Gerschick claimed the High Overall award; a handsom leather pouch customized by Lonesome Charlies. We were also fortunate to have a dedicated beginner to award the Most Improved; Ron Pennington picked up approximately 6.75 birds over the course of the league and won his leather pouch most deservedly! We did have two purses: Darian Mock was the only contestant to shoot a straight-round (Josh Wells did as too, but wasn t in the purse), and our lewis class paid out to Mike Gerschick, Terry Cullender, Brad Ambrose, Ed Crater, and Scott Lauer. Finally, to thank all our captains, each were issued breaking clay lapel pins. Thanks to everyone that participated and for your support. I hope you had a great time. Team leagues will resume after the time spring time change. If you can t wait that long, come checkout the Skeet Under the Lights league we re trying out.

GPGC Club Skeet Championship Terry, Charles, Don and Bill working on the new club chairs Note: Date change for GPGC Club Skeet Championship as not to conflict with opening weekend of deer season: The GPGC Club Skeet Championship date has changed to November 12 and 13. November 12th will be a 4 gun 50 bird event. 12 and 20 gauge in the morning and 28 and 410 in the afternoon. Doubles will be on Sunday November 13th and will be a 100 bird event (50 pairs). Antique Brass Buckles will be given for class champ in each division and each gauge. Gun champ will come out of class and receive a two-tone buckle (see photo). A buckle will also be awarded for HOA. This event will be the best opportunity for members to win a belt buckle at the GPGC. Classes are AA through E in 12 gauge and AA through D in all other events including Doubles. A total of 31 buckles are up for grabs. Shoot management reserves the right to adjust classes so that at least 2 shooters are in each class. Ties will be settled in a doubles shoot-off from stations 3, 4 and 5. As a courtesy, shooters that have already one a buckle should start celebrating rather than shooting against someone that has not. Registration Saturday November 12th will start at 9:30 and we will start shooting at 10:00. As always, lunch will be around noon. Please be sure to RSVP so we can provide enough food and schedule the rotations and fields. If I have more than 25 shooters I will need to break the tournament into 2 rotations and will let everyone know when to be there. The cost will be $15 for each 50 bird event, $25 for the doubles event and $6 for lunch. For more information or to RSVP, please contact Robert Nicholas or at Skeet@GPGC.net. 12

Wednesdays - Under the Lights Our leagues end with the time change, but that doesn t mean the shooting has to stop. We thought we d try something new and continue the fun with Skeet under the Lights on Wednesday nights in November and December. The event is an individual ladder. Each week, shooters will be ranked based on their average then paired off in order to shoot two rounds. Afterwards, the higher score in each round and in overall will earn a point (3 points available). Each week you are shooting against someone with a similar average, so everyone competes on an equal footing without handicaps. On Dec 14th, we'll award prizes for Most Points Top Rung / King of the Hill And MORE! When: Wednesday nights, 5pm to 9pm November 9th through December 14th. Who: Open to members and guests of members. Cost: Registration will cost $15. Targets are paid for at regular rates, when shot. How: Send to SkeetLeague@gpgc.net for more details or to reserve your spot. Registration will begin 4pm on Nov 9 th, and remain open for the first three nights. 13

Fall Skeet League Ends The 2011 fall Wednesday skeet league has come to an end. The league has been a great success for the club as well as the members competing in it. On our final night of shooting there was still fierce competition. First, Second and Third place were still all up in the air. In a battle to the very end, Off Constantly (Will Chisum, Jason Foshea, Wade Grimes, Laura Chisum Brittany Foshea and Rachel Grimes) beat Modified Choke (Robert Nicholas, Sandy Yeandle, Don Yeandle, Ginny Warren, Jay Warren and Jason Bowden) by just 2 points. For third and fourth place Da Boys (Ken Flippin, James Wilson, Robert Stack, Dave Benge, 1st Place, Off Constantlytly 2nd Place, Modifi ed Chokes 3rd Place, Da Boys: Glen Hughes & Dave Benge Glen Hughes and Gary Jones) beat the Fun Bunch (Terry Cullender, Brad Ambrose, Russell Flippin, Mike Johnson, Don Ambrose, and Mary Ann Jenkins) for two weeks in a row to secure third place. Big Daddy (Rick McLaughlin, Joe Henderson, John Mitchell, Joe Metcalf, Larry McLaughlin and Chris Burns) also beat 300X300 (Mike Gerschick, Ron Gervase, Steve Buyers, James Barnett, Fred Marshall and Joe Davis) Modifi ed Chokes: Sandy, Robert, Ginny, the last two Jason, Don & Jay weeks in a row to secure them in fifth place. Our high over all champion is Will Chisum with 343 of a possible 400 birds shot. Will shot 9 straits as well Da Boys: Ann, Brad, Glen, James & Dave but unable to win both prizes Jason Foshea was awarded most straits with 6 straits. At a dinner ceremony following our last evening of shooting the Off Constantly: Brittany, Rachel, Wade, winning teams Will, Laura, & Jason were honored.
