4 Division I Soccer Championships, Louisville, KY Instructions to Participants Ball [Reference: 2010 Division I Men s Soccer Championship Handbook.] The Wilson AVANTI (Official NCAA Championship Match Ball) soccer ball will be used in all NCAA tournament games. Cheerleaders, Mascots, Bands and Banners Band members, not to exceed 25 in number (including the director), who are in uniform and performing at the championship, will not be charged admission to the competition. Bands, or any component thereof, may only play during timeouts, between games, and before and after the competition. Bands may not play when the game is in progress. Bands will be seated in the end zones at the same end of the field as their team benches. No electronic amplifiers, air horns or artificial noisemakers are allowed. Cheerleaders and/or spirit team members, not to exceed 12 in number, plus the mascot shall be admitted, if in uniform, via the gate list furnished to the NCAA men s soccer site representative at the administrative and coaches mandatory meeting; all other institutional representatives will be admitted only after presentation of a ticket. A maximum of 12 cheerleaders and/or spirit team members shall be allowed on the field during the progress of the game. The display of banners is subject to the approval of the games committee. Dining See Appendix A: Louisville Restaurant Guide Directions See Appendix B: Directions to Cardinal Park Track and Soccer Stadium Drug Testing [Reference: Drug Testing in the Division I General Section, and Bylaws and in the NCAA Division I Manual.] Student-athletes who compete in this championship may be subjected to drug tests in accordance with NCAA Bylaws and , and may be determined to be ineligible as a result thereof. Only student-athletes who have consented in writing to such testing are initially eligible for this championship; and, thereafter, student-athletes who are tested shall remain eligible only if they test negative. NCAA championships committees, following a recommendation from the NCAA drug-testing subcommittee, have discontinued the practice of announcing whether drug testing will be conducted at NCAA championship events. Although knowing prior to competition whether NCAA drug testing was to occur had value for reasons of convenience, it left open the possibility that student-athletes might be tempted to use banned substances if they knew that NCAA testing was not being conducted at the site of competition. Therefore, all coaches and student-athletes should presume that NCAA drug testing will occur at this championship event. Please inform your student-athletes that in the event they are notified of their selection for drug testing, the student-athlete must inform an official representative of your institution (e.g., coach, athletic trainer) before proceeding to the drug-testing site. Student-athletes will be reminded by the courier to contact their team representative. Drug testing may occur at any session of the championship. If it occurs at this session, a representative of the student-athlete s institution will make contact in the locker room with the selected student-athletes immediately following the conclusion of the 10 minute cooling-off period. After signing the notification form, student-athletes have one hour to report to the testing site; they should participate in news conferences (if selected) before reporting to the testing site. Players from either the winning or losing team may be tested. Accordingly, two separate areas will be provided if testing is conducted.

5 Division I Soccer Championships, Louisville, KY Locker Rooms Locker room assignments will be distributed at the mandatory coaches meeting. A key will be provided to each team representative so that the locker room is secured. Towels and other supplies will be located inside the locker room for teams to use as needed. Lodging Seventeen non-smoking, double-double rooms have been reserved for each competing institution at the hotel(s) listed below. A complimentary suite for the head coach and complimentary meeting space for the team is provided. The hotel will make every effort to ensure team rooms are on the same floor and not more than 2 floors. A competing institution is not obligated to stay at the designated property; however, it is responsible for canceling its reservations and then securing its own accommodations. The competing institution is responsible for contacting the hotel to which it has been assigned to confirm the reservations and provide the hotel a rooming list. If an institution prefers to stay in another hotel, it must: 1. Obtain a written release for the rooms from the hotel manager; or 2. Use the rooms for persons accompanying the official traveling party. The competing institution is responsible for the first night s room charges even if it fails to use those rooms. If an institution fails to make satisfactory arrangements for use of rooms with the hotel, full charges for the rooms will be billed to the institution. For information regarding news, satellite feeds, radio, television rights, footage licensing, web sites, internet, video streaming, and audio coverage (radio and internet): please refer to the NCAA Broadcast Manual policies and guidelines that can be found at Media Credentials. Each institution s Sports Information Director must advise Kim Pemberton, 502/ , of the number of media credentials required and whether a radio station will broadcast the match. Space automatically will be reserved for each participating institution s home radio station; all other stations will be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis. Official college or university noncommercial stations that broadcast the institution s regular-season competition are not charged a rights fee. All commercial stations much pay a rights fee. The NCAA shall control the issuance of media credentials for each of its championships. Credentials will not be issued to representatives of any organization that regularly publishes, broadcasts or otherwise promotes the advertising of tout sheets or tip sheets or other advertising designed to encourage gambling on college sports events. Postcompetition Interviews. Immediately after a 10-minute cooling-off period (e.g., 10 minutes after a head coach enters its dressing room), an interview area (Cardinal Park Conference Room) will open to all certified members of the news media; any coach and student-athletes requested by the media will be available for interviews. If a team or individual is participating in an awards ceremony, the cooling-off period will begin immediately after the presentation. For all games, with the exception of the championship game, the order of teams being interviewed at the postgame news conference shall be the winning team first, followed by the non-winning team. Regardless of any regularseason radio or television contract(s), the coach is obligated to make himself available to the entire covering media during the championship and must report to the interview room immediately after the 10-minute cooling-off period.

6 Division I Soccer Championships, Louisville, KY The coach cannot delay a postcompetition interview with the covering media to conduct a program for a single newspaper, radio or television reporter unless requested to remain for a short interview (not to exceed four minutes) by the television entity that has been granted television rights by the NCAA. Coaches cannot make themselves available to selected media representatives before the conclusion of the 10-minute cooling-off period. They may, however, open their dressing rooms and/or report to the interview area before the cooling-off period ends, and make themselves available to all media representatives staffing the championship. Should a coach permit one media agency to enter the dressing room before the 10- minute cooling-off period has ended, the dressing room shall be opened to all other media representatives desiring access to the area. The NCAA championships have an open locker room policy, which is administered by the media coordinator on site. All coaches and student-athletes must be made available for postcompetition interviews after the cooling-off period. This not only applies to formal press conferences, but also to any interview requests made to coaches and/or student-athletes not involved in the press conference. Failure to do so may result in possible misconduct as determined by the respective sport committee. Only individuals with the appropriate credentials will be allowed in the postmatch interview area. Medical and Training Trainers will be available 90 minutes prior to the game and 60 minutes after the game. An ambulance, physician, and certified athletic trainer will be available at all games. An AED unit will be available at all practices and games. The training room at the Cardinal Park will be available an hour before and after practices, and 1.5 hours before and 1 hour after the game. Water, ice and bags, cups, and biohazard materials will be available on both benches. Contacts. The purpose of the general-information meeting is to review playing rules and any other administrative matters pertaining to the event and to acquaint the head coaches with the provisions of NCAA Bylaw , which prescribes the conditions under which a student-athlete or representative of an institution may be disqualified from further participation in the competition for reasons of misconduct. Those not meeting the requirements above or not in attendance shall be subject to the assessment of a financial penalty. For NCAA championship competition, a game must be played for the full 90 minutes (as opposed to 70 minutes for the regular season) to be considered a complete game. If a game is suspended or postponed, it will be the decision of the games committee and the referee to determine if the game can be continued that day. If conditions dictate that the game cannot be completed, the NCAA representative and tournament manager shall contact D Ann Keller (office: 317/ ; cellular: 317/ ). Only after contacting Ms. Keller may a game be suspended until the next day or moved to an alternate site. Teams should be prepared with footwear for any playing surface.
