Upon entering the Big 12 in 2012, TCU inherited Texas A&M s league schedule in which the Aggies owed the Cowboys an extra home game. TCU played at Oklahoma State in 2012 and 2013, before hosting the Cowboys for the first time in The game features the all-time winningest coaches at both schools. Gary Patterson has 152 victories at TCU, while Mike Gundy has 107 for OSU. 4Patterson is against ranked opponents, including an 8-5 mark over the last four seasons. 4TCU has opened 3-0 for the ninth time in 17 seasons with Patterson. ROAD WORK 4TCU s record (.741) in road and neutral-site games since 2009 is the nation s second-best mark. 4At (.773), TCU has the nation s third-best road record since TCU is 14-9 on the road in its Big 12 history. 4Six of TCU s last 12 Big 12 road games have been decided by seven points or less. The Horned Frogs are 5-1 in those games. Since beginning Big 12 play in 2012, TCU is 8-4 in conference road games decided by seven points or less. 4Among Power Five teams since 2009, TCU has the fourth-best record (26-9,.743) in road conference games. 4TCU is seventh nationally with seven road wins over Associated Press Top-25 teams since SERIES NOTES 4 Oklahoma State holds a edge in the alltime series with TCU. 4 TCU is 3-8 versus OSU in Stillwater, in Fort Worth, 1-1 in a pair of meetings (1943, 1946) in Oklahoma City and 0-1 in Dallas (1945 Cotton Bowl). 4 In its last visit to Stillwater, a loss to Oklahoma State in 2015, TCU held a 663-to-456 edge in total offense, running 110 plays from scrimmage to just 53 for the Cowboys. The second half saw Oklahoma State limited to just two first downs and 122 yards of offense. 4 TCU has dropped its past four games in Stillwater with its last victory at Boone Pickens Stadium being a decision in FAMILIAR FACES 4TCU defensive coordinator and safeties coach Chad Glasgow was a three-year letterman ( ) at linebacker for Oklahoma State. He was also a graduate assistant ( ) under former head coach Bob Simmons. 4TCU running backs coach Curtis Luper played at Oklahoma State ( ) before returning to Stillwater as a Cowboys assistant coach ( ). TCU NOTABLES 4Over the last four seasons, TCU has the Big 12 s second-best overall record (32-10) and conference mark (19-8). 4In the two previous seasons it came off a nonwinning record in the 17-year tenure of head coach Gary Patterson, TCU went a combined 23-2 en route to a pair of conference championships (Mountain West, 2005; Big 12, 2014). The Horned Frogs have 32 total seniors compared to just 13 a year ago. 4A 63-0 victory over Jackson State gave Patterson his 150th career victory. He then left the Week 3 Iowa State contest due to injury. 4Turpin returned to his regular duties as TCU s primary kickoff and punt returner at Baylor. He had three kickoff returns for 99 yards (33.0 average), including a 46-yard effort on his first attempt of the game versus the Bears. 4Turpin s career-long 64-yard kickoff return against Arkansas, with less than a minute to play in regulation, set up a potential game-winning field goal. 4Turpin s 81-yard second-quarter punt return for a touchdown against South Dakota State was the second of his career. He had a 49-yard punt return for a score versus Kansas in Turpin s 81-yard effort tied for the sixth-longest punt return in TCU history. It was the Horned Frogs longest since LaVar Veale went 85 yards versus Nevada in At SMU, in his first game as Turpin s replacement, White had a career long 31-yard punt return on his first attempt. SEPT. 16, 2017 / ATTENDANCE: 44,489 AMON G. CARTER STADIUM / FORT WORTH, TEXAS JACKSON ST. 0 TCU 63 FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - Coach Gary Patterson wasn t going to get overexcited about TCU s 63-0 victory against an FCS team. Even with that win against Jackson State being the 150th victory of his career, Patterson was keeping everything in perspective after the lopsided victory. This next one is a test (against Arkansas), Patterson said. I d be excited if I could get to 160 by the end of this season. Quarterback Kenny Hill threw for 206 yards and four touchdowns, two to Desmon White, and helped TCU take a comfortable lead early on. TCU scored on all three possessions in the first quarter, including a 13-yard touchdown where Kenedy Snell took a shovel pass and broke five tackles on a weaving sideline-to-sideline run. TCU posted its first shutout since 2014 and scored twice on defense as Ridwan Issahaku returned an interception 53 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter and Arico Evans returned a fumble 32 yards in the third. Hill completed 18 of 23 passes before being replaced by backup quarterback Shawn Robinson midway through the third quarter. The Tigers were limited to 24 yards rushing and 41 passing. Jackson State reached the TCU 7-yard line on the game s opening drive, but a fumbled snap led to a 28-yard loss and was followed up by a failed fake punt. NO. 23 TCU 28 ARKANSAS 7 FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) Led by a defense that stifled its opponent for a second straight week, No. 23 TCU made amends for its loss a year ago by earning a 28-7 win over the Razorbacks. The Horned Frogs held Arkansas to 267 yards of total offense, a week after allowing only 65 yards in a 63-0 victory over Jackson State. They also controlled the time of possession with 195 yards rushing as a team, led by a career-high 106 on the ground from sophomore Darius Anderson. Anderson s career day topped his previous rushing best of 103 yards in a victory over Texas last season, helping TCU win in Fayetteville for the first time since 1984 when both schools were in the Southwest Conference. It was the collective effort of the Horned Frogs defense, however, that stole the show - while TCU quarterback Kenny Hill was content to manage the rushing game and lead an offense that converted 10 of 14 third downs. Even in a secondary role, the senior still finished 21-of-31 passing and topped 200 yards of total offense in his third career game against Arkansas. The Horned Frogs had three sacks in the game, one each by Ridwan Issahaku, Ben Banogu and Corey Bethley. It was its coverage that decimated Arkansas once-mighty passing attack, though. Only three Razorbacks wide receivers caught passes in the game and quarterback Austin Allen - who accounted for four touchdowns in last year s win - finished 9 of 23 for 138 yards passing. SMU 36 NO. 20 TCU 56 FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) Jalen Reagor made a leaping 38-yard TD catch between four defenders who didn t jump with him on the final play of the first half, finally putting the Horned Frogs ahead to stay in a victory. SMU led 19-7 before Kenny Hill threw three TD passes in the final 7 1/2 minutes of the second quarter. The last was Reagor s catch in a crowd of Mustangs who seemed more like observers than defenders. Darius Anderson ran for two touchdowns for TCU in the second half, including the first drive after halftime. Speedy running back Kenedy Snell also scored twice, while Hill completed 24 of 30 passes for 365 yards and four touchdowns. Snell had a 10-yard TD run and later turned a short pass into a 71-yard sprint to the end zone. That long score put TCU up with 2:40 left in the first half. Snell and Reagor are both true freshmen from Waxahachie, Texas, less than an hour from the TCU campus. Josh Williams kicked his third field goal for SMU after Snell s big play, but TCU still had time. Taking over at its 44 with 10 seconds left after the kickoff, Snell had an 18-yard run before a timeout to set up the final play.
