Carter Stadium (45,000) ABOUT THE GAME t TCU closes its first season in the Big 12 on Saturday when it welcomes No. 11 Oklahoma to a sold-out Amon G. Carter Stadium on Senior Day. t Prior to the Horned Frogs joining the Big 12, Oklahoma had already been scheduled to play at TCU this season in a non-conference game. It was part of a home-andhome series that began with the Frogs traveling to Norman in t TCU s Gary Patterson is 1-1 as a head coach versus Oklahoma. Both games have been in Norman. The Frogs won in the 2005 season opener before a loss in The 2005 victory over the No. 5 Sooners began a stretch that has seen TCU go 4-2 in its last six games versus top-five opponents. t The last game in Fort Worth between TCU and Oklahoma was a 10-9 OU win in 1998, when Patterson was in his first season as the Frogs defensive coordinator. t As TCU s head coach, Patterson is 14-9 against ranked teams. t The Frogs, 4-1 on the road in Big 12 play this season, are looking for their first Big 12 home victory. t TCU tops the Big 12 while ranking in the top-10 nationally in five major defensive categories: run defense (97.3 yards per game), total defense (323.9 yards per game), interceptions (20), takeaways (30) and third-down conversions (28.1 percent). t Since 2005, TCU has the nation s best record (48-1,.980) when ahead in turnover margin. t TCU is playing its first season in Amon G. In five of his six seasons ( ) as the Hurricanes defensive coordinator, Miami ranked in the top seven nationally in total defense. Oklahoma 3 WINNING CLASSES t The five winningest senior classes in TCU history are in the last five seasons. t In each of the last four years, TCU s seniors graduated as the winningest class in school history. This year s seniors are in third place: Years Wins THE 2012 SENIOR CLASS t With just 11 scholarship seniors on this year s roster, TCU is tied for the eighth-lowest total in the nation. A total of 21 seniors will be honored Saturday in a pre-game ceremony. t The Frogs 2012 seniors have a 43-7 record. t The seniors have played a part in TCU winning three straight conference championships for the first time in program history and reaching a pair of BCS games, including a 2011 Rose Bowl championship. The seniors are also 3-1 against top-five ranked opponents, 2-1 in bowl games and 19-4 at Amon G. Carter Stadium. He also completed 7-of-9 passes for 82 yards. HISTORY MADE t Trevone Boykin became the first quarterback in TCU history with four touchdown passes in back-to-back games versus Baylor and Texas Tech. t Boykin also threw for a career-high 332 yards against the Red Raiders. t The four touchdown passes versus Baylor and Texas Tech tied for fifth most in a game at TCU. During the Gary Patterson era, Boykin s four scoring tosses trailed only Casey Pachall s five against Boise State last season and Jeff Ballard s five versus San Diego State in CLUTCH PLAY t Trevone Boykin has shown a penchant for coming through in the clutch this season. t The Frogs trailed West Virginia by 10 points in the second half. After pulling TCU even, Boykin had to rally the Frogs again with a 94-yard touchdown pass to Josh Boyce with 1:28 remaining to force overtime. t With TCU down and just 4:01 to play against Texas Tech, Boykin completed 7- of-9 passes for 122 yards, including a 60-yard touchdown to LaDarius Brown on a third-and-20, in leading the Frogs on a pair of scoring drives to force overtime. t Boykin was 13-of-13 on third-down pass attempts against Baylor with 11 of his completions going for first downs. t All four of Boykin s touchdown passes at Baylor were on third-down throws. ROAD SAVVY t Trevone Boykin is 3-1 as a starting quarterback on the road in the Big 12. Boykin has wins at Baylor, West Virginia and Texas. t With the victory at Baylor, Boykin became TCU s first quarterback to win his first start on the road since Jeff Ballard at Wyoming in 2005 (28-14). SIDELINED t Waymon James, TCU s leading rusher with 875 yards last season, is sidelined for the remainder of the 2012 campaign. The injury occurred in the Sept. 15 win at Kansas. t He was averaging 9.9 yards per carry in leading TCU with 168 yards in two games. THE TWO-HEADED MONSTER t In Waymon James and Matthew Tucker, TCU was the lone school in the nation to have two players on the 2012 Doak Walker Award Watch List. t TCU was one of five schools to return a pair of 700-yard rushers from last year. IT S A RUSH t The Frogs have won 47 straight games when rushing for more yards than passing. t TCU is 63-3 in its last 66 games when rushing for at least 167 yards. t The Frogs are 64-3 under Gary Patterson when rushing for at least 200 yards. Catalon, who enrolled early and went through spring practice, tops TCU in rushing with 511 yards and is fifth in receiving with 21 catches. t Catalon led TCU in rushing for five consecutive games before Matthew Tucker had a team-high 64 yards against Kansas State and Trevone Boykin ran for 77 at Texas. t Catalon had 66 yards on 11 carries against Texas while adding two receptions. t Catalon s 511 yards rushing are the most by a TCU true freshman since Aaron Brown ran for 758 in t Catalon is on pace to become the first freshman to lead TCU in rushing since Robert Merrill with 1,107 yards in t The last true freshman to top TCU in rushing was Lonta Hobbs with 1,029 yards in SELECT COMPANY t Josh Boyce is one of just three players nationally to have at least 600 yards receiving and six touchdown catches in the last three seasons. TCU HEAD COACH GARY PATTERSON Gary Patterson became TCU s all-time winningest coach with the season-opening 56-0 win over Grambling State. Patterson now has 116 victories. The previous mark of 109 wins was by Dutch Meyer ( ). Patterson s.773 winning percentage (116-34) ranks fourth among active coaches (min. 5 years). He is one of just eight coaches with at least 100 victories at their current school. In August 2011, Patterson was named the nation s top coach by Sports Illustrated and ESPN The Magazine. Sporting News tabbed him in January 2012 as the nation s third-best coach. In leading TCU to back-to-back BCS appearances in the 2009 and 2010 seasons, including a 2011 Rose Bowl championship, Patterson received 10 National Coach of the Year honors. Patterson has produced at least 10 wins in eight of the last 10 years, including seven seasons of 11 or more victories. He has led the Frogs to seven conference titles and 14 bowl games in 15 years. COVERING PRACTICE TCU normally conducts workouts weekdays between the hours of 3 and 6 p.m. Practices are typically closed to the media. However, occasional practices are open. If practice is open, TV crews and photographers are permitted to only shoot individual drills and must receive clearance in advance from the TCU media relations office.
