As an assistant coach at Navy, New Mexico and TCU, Patterson was 4-2 against the Mustangs. 4Over the last nine seasons, the Horned Frogs are 45-6 in day games and in Saturday contests. 4 TCU is against former Southwest Conference rivals, including a 12-4 mark versus SMU, since the league dissolved after the 1995 campaign. 4TCU is playing its second season in Amon G. TCU NOTABLES 4TCU is the only Big 12 school to have played two teams currently ranked in the Associated Press Top 25 (No. 6 LSU, No. 25 Texas Tech). 4With two of its three games against top-25 opponents, TCU leads the Big 12 in sacks (eight) and interceptions (five). 4 TCU was picked third in the preseason Big 12 poll. Other media will be located in Lot 3, behind the main video board on the north side of the stadum. Other parking is in a lot on the east side of campus. CARTER STADIUM The 132-seat press box is located on the second floor in the northwest corner of the Club/Press Level. Matthew Tucker scored two touchdowns in the first half that capped drives of less than 10 yards. The Horned Frogs jumped out to a halftime and held on. SMU threw five interceptions, including one by Verrett on a desperation pass to end the game. The Mustangs turned the ball over six times. SMU had one last chance when it got the ball at its own 33 with 1:06 left. They moved the ball 9 yards before Verrett intercepted a Hail Mary attempt. TCU s only points in the second half came on Jaden Oberkrom s 43-yard field goal early in the fourth. TCU s Chris Hackett recovered a fumble at the SMU 41 to set up Pachall s 10-yard touchdown pass to LaDarius Brown. Elisha Olabode intercepted a pass and returned it 51 yards to the SMU 8. Three plays later, Pachall found a wide open Tucker on a 2-yard scoring toss. After picking up only 4 yards of offense in the first quarter, the Mustangs put together their only substantial drive, but Skye Dawson returned a punt 64 yards soon after, and Tucker scored on the next play to extend TCU s advantage to 21-7 with 2:11 left in the first half. Marcus Mariota, Oregon Brett Hundley, UCLA Johnny Manziel, Texas A&M Trevone Boykin, TCU 14 ROAD SAVVY 4Trevone Boykin is 3-2 as a starting quarterback on the road in the Big 12 with wins at Baylor, West Virginia and Texas last season. 4With the victory at Baylor, Boykin became TCU s first quarterback to win his first start on the road since Jeff Ballard at Wyoming in 2005 (28-14). CLUTCH PLAY 4Trevone Boykin showed a penchant for coming through in the clutch last season. 4The Horned Frogs trailed West Virginia by 10 points in the second half. After pulling TCU even, Boykin had to rally his team again with a 94-yard touchdown pass to Josh Boyce with 1:28 left to force overtime. 4With TCU down and just 4:01 to play against Texas Tech, Boykin completed 7-of-9 passes for 122 yards, including a 60-yard touchdown to LaDarius Brown on a third-and-20, in leading the Horned Frogs on a pair of scoring drives to force overtime. 4Boykin was 13-of-13 on third-down passes at Baylor with 11 first-down completions. All four touchdown tosses were on third-down throws. TRICKERATION 4Casey Pachall and Trevone Boykin were both on the field for TCU s opening snap against LSU. 4Pachall was behind center with Boykin at wide receiver. Later in the game, Boykin took over at quarterback with Pachall split outside. He totaled 159 return yards, a team-high 52 yards rushing and 22 yards receiving on three catches. HE S BACK 4After suffering a season-ending injury in the second game last season, Waymon James returned to action this fall with a rushing touchdown in each of the opening two contests. 4James is third on the Horned Frogs with 123 yards rushing on a 5.1 per carry mark.
