In his eighth NBA season, Temple set career-highs in scoring and field goals made yet again while notching a careerhigh in attempts during Sacramento win against the Magic on Jan 23. The LSU product posted 34 points on 14-of-17 shooting, including 4-for-7 from beyond the arc. The 34 points by Temple are the second most by a Kings this season with Zach Randolph being the only Kings player to surpass the 30-point mark with 35 points at New Orleans (12/8). Temple joins Gary Harris with the highest shooting percentage (.824, FG) by a player who scored 30 or more points in a single game this season. Temple scored 19 points, outscoring the Magic by himself who scored 17 in the final frame. During the final 12 minutes, Temple went a perfect 7-for-7 from the field and hit all three of his shots from three-point range. Only four other players have knocked down seven shots on eight attempts this season as Temple is the only one to make all seven of his fourth quarter tries. The last Kings player to make seven-plus field goals in the final quarter of regulaton was Cavaliers guard Isaiah Thomas. Thomas went 8-of-14 in the last quarter on Dec. 3, 2013 versus the Oklahoma City Thunder. PERFECT TOUCH FROM 3: Going for 25 points versus the Utah Jazz on Jan. 17 at the Golden 1 Center, Kings guard Bogdan Bogdanovic went 9-of-11 from the field and a perfect 6-for-6 from three-point range. Since 1987, Bogdanovic is one of seven rookies to shoot percent from the field while taking six attempts in a single game and finished with the second highest shooting percentage from the field overall amongst the other six. He became the seventh rookie this season to make six or more shots from deep. WATCH YOUR POCKETS: With 16 steals in their win over Denver on Jan. 6, the Kings recorded 16 steals for the first time this season and for the second time in as many seasons. Prior to the contest, Sacramento posted 16 or more steals only five others times over the last 10 seasons. Willie Cauley-Stein helped the Kings steals total as he tallied seven steals of his own, setting a career-high. The third year center is just the seventh player since 1975 to snag seven-plus steals in a game while donning a Kings uniform. The last time a Kings player had seven steals was when former King and current Kings broadcaster Doug Christie had totaled seven steals in a win versus Denver on Jan. 4, Christie has the most games with seven or more steals in Kings history and shares the Kings record with Chris Webber and Danny Ainge with eight steals in one game. Since 1976, Cauley-Stein is just the 10th center in the league to have seven or more steals in a game. ANOTHER MILESTONE FOR ZACH: After dishing out two assists on Jan. 17 during Sacramento s contest versus the Utah Jazz, Kings forward Zach Randolph tallied his 2,000th career assists. Randolph becomes just the 19th player in league history to record 18,000+ points, 10,000+ rebounds, and 2,000+ assists over an NBA career. San Antonio Spurs center Pau Gasol and Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki are the only other active players that have been able to accumulate these totals throughout their career. During Sacramento s visit to Brooklyn earlier this season on Dec. 20, Kings forward Zach Randolph recorded eight rebounds, including his 10,000th career rebound. The 16-year NBA pro is just the 39th player in league history to record 10,000+ rebounds in an NBA career. Randolph also becomes just the 20th player in the NBA to score 18,000+ points and secure 10,000+ boards. Once again, there are only two other active players to complete this feat, Gasol and Nowitzki. Z-Bo would is the only active American player with 18K points and 10K rebounds. Randolph eclipsed the 18,000 point mark at Milwaukee on Dec. 2, becoming the only Michigan State player to do so and is currently two assists shy of reaching 2,000 for his career. FLASHBACK FRIDAY: During Sacramento s win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Dec. 8, Kings forward Zach Randolph recorded 35 points and 13 assists. Randolph is the eighth player in the NBA with 35 and 13 this season, posting his third double-double of the year. Randolph had not scored more than 30 points in a game since when he scored 38 points on Dec. 4, 2012 against the Suns and added 22 rebounds. During that season, Randolph was named an All-Star averaging 15.4 points and 11.2 rebounds per game. Randolph joins Kareem Abdul Jabar, Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, Michael Jordan, Karl Malone, Shaquille O Neal, and Robert Parish as the only players to have at least 35 points and double-double in a game at the age of 36 years or older. (Basketball-Reference). BUDDY BUCKETS: On Nov. 25, Buddy Hield s 27-point performance included an outburst from 3, as the second-year guard knocked down seven three-pointers on nine attempts. Hield became just the 13th player this season to make seven 3s on nine or more attempts; Warriors guard Stephen Curry holds the current NBA season-high for three-pointers made with 10 in a single game on just 13 tries. Since 1983, only 11 other Kings played have completed the feat of seven or more field-goals made from three-point range. The only other Kings player to make seven three-pointers on less attempts was Mitch Richmond who went 8-of-9 from beyond the arc on Feb. 25, 1994 at the LA Clippers and three years later on Feb. 26, 1997 when he went a perfect 7-for-7 from deep at Boston. The last Kings player to record seven or more three-pointers was Omri Casspi when he tied the franchise record with nine 3s on 12 attempts at Golden State on Dec. 28, NO NEED FOR THE THREE: On Dec. 19, the Kings picked up a win over the 76ers and for the second time this season, the Kings and their opponent shot under.290 percent from three-point range. Sacramento shot.259 (7-27 3pt) percent from deep while the Sixers went 10-for-35 (.286). Prior to this game, both Sacramento and the Trail Blazers also shot under.290 percent from three-point range in their meeting on Nov. 17, which at the time marked the first time since the season that two teams shot below.290 percent from beyond the arc in a game. The Chicago Bulls and Detroit Pistons were the last two teams besides Sacramento to do this on December 18, 2015 when they shot.227 and.276 percent respectively from 3. That game would end up going into quadruple overtime as Detroit would go on to win, , as each team took more than 120 field goal attempts, but no more than 29 three-point attempts. In Sac-Era history, their have only been two other games where the KIngs and their opponents shot under.290 percent from 3; Sacramento is undefeated in games where both teams shoot under.290 percent from deep, winning all four contests. RESERVED THE POINTS FOR THE RESERVES: In two games this season, the Kings bench scored 29 straight consecutive points before a Kings starter recorded a single point. On Dec. 2, Sacramento s bench had all the team s points until Willie Cauley-Stein knocked in his second of two free-throws with 7:48 remaining in the second quarter. This is the second time the Kings have set this NBA record as they initially set it versus the Oklahoma City Thunder on Nov. 11 when the bench scored 29 points. Willie-Cauley Stein sunk two free-throws to end the starters scoring drought with 4:08 left to play in the first half. The previous record was 23 points scored by Milwaukee s reserves before then Bucks forward Luc Mbah a Moute knocked down his only shot of the night with 7:06 remaining in the half at Orlando on April 4, Unlike the Kings, Milwaukee was defeated as they only mustered 72 points even though the Magic scored just 78 themselves. 6 SACRAMENTO KINGS GAMENOTES
