5 CLEVELAND CAVALIERS TEAM NOTES COOL HAND LUKE: Since Jan. 22, Luke Walton is averaging 4.6 assists per game, which ranks 4th among all NBA bench players over that stretch. Only Andre Miller (6.2), Jarrett Jack (5.0) and Manu Ginobili (4.8) average more assists off the bench than Walton during that time frame. Walton has handed out at least five dimes in 11 of his last 22 games. On March 4 versus New York, he set a career-high with 12 assists in 29 minutes off the bench. The last Cavs reserve to dish out at least 12 assists was Mo Williams, who had 14 assists on Feb. 11, 2011 against the Clippers. Walton s 12 assists remain the most by any Cavs player this season. TRISTAN S TAKEOVER: Tristan Thompson recorded five double-doubles and averaged 8.3 points on.466 shooting and 7.6 rebounds in 29.2 minutes through his first 26 games of the season. Over the past 43 games, he has 20 double-doubles and is averaging 13.5 points on.503 shooting, 10.3 rebounds and 1.0 block in 32.6 minutes per game during that stretch. On the season, Thompson is averaging 3.8 offensive rebounds per game, which ranks 4th in the league. Thompson First 26 Games Past 43 Games PTS FG% REB BLK MIN ACE OF SPEIGHTS: Marreese Speights has put up solid numbers in his 26 games (one start) since joining the Cavs on Jan. 22, averaging 10.9 points and 5.5 rebounds in 19.9 minutes per game. Check out a few notes on the Cavs big man so far: Tallied at least 10 points and five rebounds in each of his first seven games with the Cavs. He is the only player to ever tally those numbers in his first seven games as a Cavalier, breaking the previous records of five games by Shawn Kemp (1997) and Darius Miles (2002). In a win over Oklahoma City on Feb. 2, he became the first Cavs player since Antawn Jamison (Nov. 19, 2010) to post at least 20 points and 10 rebounds off the bench. In the Cavs March 4 contest versus New York, Marreese Speights shot a perfect from the field in the first half, becoming the first NBA player to shoot perfect with at least 10 field goals made in a half since March 18, 2009 (Derrick Rose in the 2nd half vs. OKC).
