Phoebe Staenz led the Bulldogs with two goals and two assists on the weekend. Staenz leads Yale with nine goals and is tied with Krista Yip-Chuck for the team lead in points with 15. The duo is ranked second nationally in scoring with 1.88 points per game, behind only St. Lawrence s Kennedy Marchment. Taylor Marchin leads all defenders in scoring with 1.25 points per game. The Bulldogs will present a challenge to St. Lawrence s stingy defense; they lead the nation in scoring with 3.88 goals per game. Tera Hofmann (2.54 GAA,.915 save pct.) and Hanna Mandl (2.12 GAA, 9.07 save pct.) have split time in goal for Yale this season. The Bulldogs have a veteran team, with five seniors and eight juniors on the roster. Last Game vs. Union, W, 4-0 Head Coach: Chris Wells (9th Season) Alma Mater: St. Lawrence 92 Wells Career Record: About the Saints The Saints are one of three NCAA Division I women s hockey teams that has yet to lose a game this season and are unbeaten through 12 games for the first time since 2005, when they were through 12 games and remained unbeaten through 14 (12-0-2). The last time St. Lawrence was unbeaten for a stretch of 12 games was a stretch from Jan. 27 to March 4, The Saints broke the program record for wins to start ECAC Hockey play last weekend and are now in conference games. The previous record for ECAC Hockey wins to start the season was five, set in The Saints swept Rensselaer and Union last weekend by 4-1 and 4-0 scores. Kennedy Marchment scored a goal and added four assists last weekend, notching her sixth and seventh multi-point games of the season. She leads the nation with 1.92 points per game (7g, 16a, 23p). 2 About Head Coach Chris Wells 92 Wells returned to his alma mater as assistant hockey coach for the men s team in the season after a stint behind the bench at Western Michigan University in the CCHA. He was named Associate Head Coach of the men s hockey team in January of The Yale Series St. Lawrence has dominated the matchup with the Bulldogs, bringing a career record to New Haven this weekend. Yale, however, had the better end of the meetings last year, beating the Saints 5-2 in Ingalls Rink, and tying the Saints, 2-2, in Appleton. He took over the reins of the St. Lawrence University women s hockey team for the season. He guided the team to the 2009 NCAA Tournament and a record, and three years later, led the team to its first ECAC Hockey Tournament title and was named the 2012 AHCA National Coach of the Year. Wells began his collegiate coaching career as an assistant at Colgate University following a European professional career. He has also served the University as director of the St. Lawrence summer sports programs and a co-director of the Saints Summer Hockey School. The last time St. Lawrence beat the Bulldogs in New Haven was Oct. 31, 2014, with a 3-0 victory. Webster Extends Point Streak to 15 Games Brooke Webster extended her point streak to 15 games with a goal and an assist in both of the Saints wins last weekend. The last team to keep Webster off the score sheet was Princeton in the first game of the ECAC Hockey quarterfinals on Feb. 26, Webster has nine goals in 12 games this season. She led the team with 12 goals in 37 games last year, and is currently on pace to score 24 goals in the regular season. Streaking Saints Can Thank Stingy Defense Since a 3-3 tie with Clarkson on Oct. 8, the Saints have run off eight straight victories. During that run, St. Lawrence has allowed a total of just four goals with four shutouts. No opponent has scored more than one goal during the streak. The penalty kill has been a key component of the tough defense. The Saints have not allowed a goal in 20 consecutive power play opportunities over the last seven games. The Saints penalty kill is ranked third nationally (.936) with just three power play goals allowed and two shorthanded goals scored.
