CONNOLLY S CRAZY YEAR Erin Connolly has seen her role change dramatically this year - going from defenseman to forward, from third-line center to fill-in first-line center - and she s thrived in among the change Connolly began her BC career as a defenseman, even redshirting as a freshman to learn the Eagles system and gain strength However, seven games into the season - ahead of the Quinnipiac series - Katie Crowley converted her to forward On Oct. 21, Connolly began centering the Eagles third line and has collected 12 of her 14 points (8 goals, 4 assists) while lining up at center She is also part of the power-play unit... five of her eight goals have come on the man-advantage While Connolly has formally converted to forward, she was called on to pinch-hit at defense for four games (Jan. 21 through Feb. 3) after injuries left the Eagles with just three defensemen who took regular shifts She switched back to the third line center for the Beanpot Championship game, in which she scored the game-winning goal and claimed Beanpot MVP honors More injuries led to her elevation to the first line against UVM on Feb. 12, and she again found the goal with her second tally of the week, earning Hockey East Rookie of the Week honors LONERGAN MAKING HER CASE Freshman forward Caitrin Lonergan has already shown why she s among the frontrunners for AHCA National Freshman of the Year despite battling injuries midway through the year She started the season hot and won the first two Hockey East Rookie of the Month awards (October and November), picking up 21 points in 16 games She suffered an injury on Nov. 12, and continued to dress and play sparingly the next three games before being shut down for the rest of the semester She returned to the ice at BU on Jan. 7 after missing two-and-a-half games (spanning a full month) Now fully healthy, she has nine points (5g, 4a) in the Eagles last 12 games, pushing her point total to 31 in 33 games from 14 goals and 17 assists Before she missed the time with injury, Lonergan was the only freshman in the nation to rank in the overall top 25 in every major offensive category: points, goals, assists, power-play goals and shorthanded goals RECORDS & MILESTONES REACHED THIS YEAR ANDIE ANASTOS Tied NCAA Record for PPGs in a game (3) Oct. 28 at UConn 50 Career Goals Dec. 3 at Providence 75 Career Assists Jan. 14 at Merrimack BC Career Points 10th on the BC career points chart (126) Jan. 13 vs. Merrimack Ninth onthe BC career points chart (128) Jan. 14 at Merrimack Eighth on BC career points chart (137) Feb. 12 vs. Vermont Sixth on BC career points chart (138) Feb. 19 vs. Providence BC Career Assists T-10th on the BC career assists chart (74) Jan. 10 vs. Harvard T-Ninth on the BC career assists chart (75) Jan. 14 at Merrimack Eighth on BC career assists chart (77) Jan. 21 at Vermont T-Seventh on BC career assist chart (79) Feb. 7 vs. Northeastern Sixth on BC career assists chart (82) Feb. 12 vs. Vermont T-6th on the BC career game-winning goals chart (11) Jan. 13 vs. Merrimack KATIE BURT NCAA Career Wins Tied -
