The River Hawks are in first place in the Hockey East standings with 28 points, but the Terriers are just one point behind in second. BU dropped a 7-1 contest at Lowell in the teams first meeting this season on Nov. 5. SERIES HISTORY BU is (.755) in 94 all-time meetings with the River Hawks and is (.591) in its 22 visits to the Tsongas Center. The Terriers had won five straight road contests against Lowell before the loss in November. The Terriers are in their last 12 meetings with the River Hawks. The teams have met 83 times in Hockey East play, with the Terriers holding a (.741) lead. In the 11 overtime competitions in the series, BU is against the River Hawks. SCOUTING THE RIVER HAWKS Since dropping three straight games to close out October, the River Hawks are and their winning percentage of.704 (19-8-0) is the best in the country. Norm Bazin is in his first season at the helm of the Lowell program, already nearly quadrupling the team s win total from (5). The River Hawks rank sixth in the nation in both scoring offense (3.44) and scoring defense (2.22). UMass Lowell has had a balanced scoring attack thus far with seven players recording at least 20 points. Junior Riley Wetmore has also tallied 28 points on the strength of a team-best 19 assists. Sophomore Derek Arnold has 25 points and leads Lowell in goals with 15. Sophomore Doug Carr has emerged as one of the top goaltenders in the country with a 1.81 goals-against average that ranks fourth in the nation and a.935 save percentage that s good for third. Both marks lead the league. BACK IN NOVEMBER Despite scoring a goal just 16 seconds after the opening faceoff, Boston University suffered a 7-1 loss to UMass Lowell on Nov. 5 at Tsongas Center. The Terriers scored on the game s opening shift, but it was all River Hawks after that. Adam Clendening s shot from the right point was tipped in for BU s lone tally. Evan Rodrigues also assisted on the play. UMass Lowell outshot BU, 44-16, and went 2-of-10 on the power play. The Terriers came up empty on their six power-play opportunities. Yasin Cisse made his first appearance in the BU lineup since suffering a season-ending injury on his first collegiate shift in last year s season opener against Wisconsin. Kieran Millan stopped 24 of the 30 shots he faced in two periods of play before he was relieved by Grant Rollheiser who allowed one goal on 14 shots. The Eagles Bill Arnold scored with 6.4 seconds remaining in the extra session to lift BC to the victory. Millan received the Eberly Award, given to the goaltender with the top save percentage in tournament. The senior netminder stopped 73 of the 77 shots he faced over the two games, good for a.948 save percentage. Alex Chiasson assisted on both BU goals while Adam Clendening and Matt Nieto picked up one assist apiece. The Eagles got a 32-save performance in goal from Parker Milner and held a advantage in shots. BC opened the scoring 8:54 in when Pat Mullane roofed a shot past Millan with the Eagles skating shorthanded. It was the first time all season that BU allowed a goal while on the power play. Both of Noonan s goals came on the power play, first at 15:11 of the second to tie the game at 1-1. The sophomore scored from the bottom of the right circle following a cross-ice pass from Nieto. Just over three minutes later, BC regained the lead right as it looked like BU might kill off its second 5-on-3 disadvantage of the middle stanza. The Terriers would get a 5-on-3 advantage of their own, however, and use it to knot the game once again. Chiasson spotted Noonan at the right post, where he sent the puck off Milner and in for his 11th goal of the season with 12:48 left in regulation. TERRIER NOTES GET SHORTY Boston University is tied with Providence for third in the nation in shorthanded goals with eight. BU allowed its first shorthanded goal of the season in Monday s loss to Boston College in the Beanpot. HEAD TO HEAD SURGING BU was back on Nov. 11, but has won 14 of its last 20 contests, nine of its last 14 and seven of its last 11. The run includes two five-game win streaks, which were the longest for the Terriers since they won their final seven games during their 2009 NCAA championship run. The Terriers have come from behind in five of their last nine wins and are 8-1 in their last nine road contests. WIDE-OPEN RACE BU and BC are tied for second place in the Hockey East standings with 27 points, one point behind leader UMass Lowell. The top five teams are separated by only three points. This is the first season that the Terriers were atop the league standings during the month of January since the campaign. The Terriers captured regular-season league crowns in 2006 and 2009, but needed a late surge in February and March to achieve the title on both occasions. BU is tied for third in the PairWise and is fifth in the RPI. TERRIER TIDBITS Sophomore Matt Nieto and junior Alex Chiasson enter the weekend on four-game point streaks. Since the turn of the new year, Chiasson has tallied a point in 10 of 11 contests with a total of 17 points (6g, 11a) and has committed just one penalty after earning a team-high 45 penalty minutes in the 2011 portion of the season. Sophomore Garrett Noonan is fourth in Hockey East in plus-minus at plus-15. The Terriers went in November after combining for just three November wins over the previous two seasons. BU has three shutouts this season - all by Kieran Millan - after totaling just two the previous two seasons combined. 3 this season and against unranked teams. BU now boasts four wins this season over teams ranked fourth or higher at the time it has faced them (Boston College twice, Denver, Merrimack). The 7-1 loss to Lowell on Nov. 5 was BU s most lopsided defeat since an 8-2 contest against Providence in the first game of the 1999 Hockey East quarterfinals. D PROVIDING O Since the turn of the new year, the Terriers defensemen have combined to tally 36 points (12g, 24a) in 10 games. Sophomore Garrett Noonan is tied for second nationally in goals by a defenseman with 11. Sophomore Adam Clendening has at least one point in nine of his last 12 games and has totaled 16 points (1g, 15a) during the stretch, including three three-assist efforts. Clendening is tied for first amongst Hockey East defensemen in points with 25 (2g, 23a) and his 0.93 points-per-game average ranks fourth nationally amongst blueliners. POWER PLAY ON A ROLL At the turn of the new year, the BU power play ranked 35th in the country at 17.9 percent (15-of- 84). Since that time, the Terriers have converted on 20 of their 59 chances (.339) with the man advantage and now rank fifth nationally at 24.5 percent (35-of-143). BU has scored at least one power-play goal in its last 11 games. Dating back to last season, the Terriers have had at least one power-play goal in 31 of their last 38 contests. The Terriers power play ranked just 47th in the country last season at 14.9 percent (32-of-215) but converted on 15 of its last 66 chances. TOP TERRIERS Junior Alex Chiasson ( ), sophomore Matt Nieto ( ), senior Chris Connolly ( ), sophomore Adam Clendening ( ) and sophomore Sahir Gill ( ) are the Terriers top five scorers this seasons and are all hovering around a point-per-game pace. Nobody on last year s BU team finished at a point-per-game average. Chiasson tallied a team-best 34 points (14g, 20a) in 35 games last season. COMEBACK KIDS Seven of BU s wins this season have been comeback victories, as the team is in games in which it has allowed the first goal. The Terriers recorded 11 come-from-behind victories last season after only having five in FROM THE BIZARRE FILES BU has allowed 53 goals in Hockey East play this season. Seventeen of them were the scorer s first collegiate goal. WELCOME TO THE CENTURY CLUB After assisting on the go-ahead goal in a 2-1 win at UNH on Dec. 8, senior Chris Connolly became the 78th player to score 100 points at BU. He has recorded 116 points on 35 goals and 81 assists during his time with the Terriers. That total ranks eighth among all active Division I players. Since 2000, the only Terriers to have recorded more assists than Connolly are Chris Higgins (84) and Pete MacArthur (83). His younger brother, Jack, is a senior captain at Minnesota-Duluth and is atop the national career list with 185 points (63g, 122a). ON THE KILL BU has successfully killed off 138 of its opponents 165 power-play chances at a rate of 83.6 percent, good for 19th in the nation. BU s penalty-kill unit finished last year ranked fourth in the nation. The Terriers were 175-of-202 on the year for an 86.6-percent success rate. The Terriers had three streaks of 20 or more consecutive successful kills last year, including one that reached 32 straight. MILLAN MILESTONES Kieran Millan, a five-time Hockey East weekly honoree this year, has broke BU s career records for wins and saves this season. His 76 career wins are 20 more than any other active Division I netminder. He broke BU s all-time record for career wins with his 63rd in the victory over Denver on Oct. 15. In the Terriers game at Maine on Dec. 10, he broke the record for career saves. Millan reached the 50-win mark last Dec. 8 and needed just 80 starts reach the milestone. He became the first goaltender in school history to shut out both Boston College and New Hampshire in the same season. No other goaltender in school history has more wins against Maine (8) than Millan. Here s the top-five list for career wins at BU: 1. Kieran Millan (2008-pres.) He had an eight-game goal-scoring streak snapped in November at Lowell. He totaled 12 points overall (8g, 4a) during the streak, which dated back to last season s Hockey East quarterfinals. The goal-scoring streak was the longest by a Terrier since Chris Drury scored in nine straight from Nov. 1-26, Nieto had 13 points (4g, 9a) in the last 11 games of the season after tallying two points (1g, 1a) in his first 11 contests. EXTRA SPECIAL BU is in its last 30 overtime games. The Terriers overtime loss to Merrimack on Nov. 11 was its first in league play since Feb. 21, 2003, at Providence. BU s last three overtime losses during non-conference play have come in the Beanpot against Boston College (2008, 2011, 2012). The Terriers also had 22 of their players score at least one point last season and led the league with 20 different goal scorers. BETWEEN THE PIPES Senior Kieran Millan and classmate Grant Rollheiser have combined to earn 150 starts in the BU goal over the past three-plus seasons. WEARING THE C Senior forward Chris Connolly serves as the team s captain this season after sharing captain duties with Joe Pereira last season. Connolly is the first two-year captain at BU since Jack O Callahan 79. Junior forwards Alex Chiasson and Justin Courtnall are this year s assistant captains. WELCOME ABOARD The Terriers welcomed three freshmen - two forwards (Cason Hohmann, Evan Rodrigues), one defenseman (Alexx Privitera) - to their roster this season in addition to sophomore Anthony Moccia, who joined the roster after serving as a practice goalie last year. During the holiday break, the team added forward/defenseman Jake Moscatel to the roster. NHL HOPEFULS Ten of the Terriers on this year s roster have been chosen by a professional team in the National Hockey League Entry Draft. The BU team holds the program record for having the most players eventually reach the NHL at TH SEASON The Terriers are in their 90th season of intercollegiate play and currently hold a (.627) record. BU s 1,420 wins are only surpassed by Minnesota (1,646 wins - 90 seasons) and Michigan (1,551 wins - 89 seasons). The three programs represent a trio of the top NCAA Division I college hockey conferences in the WCHA (Minnesota), CCHA (Michigan) and Hockey East (BU), and hold a combined 19 national titles between them. COACH PARKER NOTES 39th SEASON ON THE TERRIER BENCH BU head coach Jack Parker is now in his 39th season and holds an overall record of (.647). His 870 wins mark the most of any college hockey coach at the same institution and he ranks second among active coaches in wins and fourth in winning percentage. VS. THE RIVER HAWKS Parker has coached all of BU s 93 games against the River Hawks, dating back to the season, posting a record of (.755). IN HOCKEY EAST Parker holds an all-time (.625) record in Hockey East regular-season play, which is the most wins of any league coach GAME RECAPS TERRIERS TRIPPED UP BY UMASS (2/10) Boston University dropped a 3-2 contest to Massachusetts on Feb. 10 at Agganis Arena. Alex Chiasson recorded a goal and an assist for the Terriers while Matt Nieto added a pair of assists. The Minutemen never trailed in the contest and used a pair of power-play goals and a late emptynetter to secure their first road win of the season and their first-ever road win against a top-ranked team. Joel Hanley gave the visitors a 2-1 lead at 12:47 of the middle stanza. After a late empty-netter made it 3-1 in UMass favor, BU brought the extra attacker back on to create a 6-4 advantage and got a goal from Chiasson with 4.5 ticks left, but it was too little, too late. UMass opened the scoring at 7:14 of the first and Chris Connolly tied the game just over two minutes later when he poked in the puck while it was sitting in the crease. UMass held a shot advantage and got a 33-

5 save performance from Kevin Boyle. Kieran Millan made 34 stops for the Terriers. Each team had six power-play chances in the contest and UMass scored on two of theirs. During the first intermission, the Terriers celebrated the 40th anniversary of the program s back-to-back national championship teams from 1971 and TERRIERS TOP HARVARD AT BEANPOT (2/6) Boston University advanced to the title game of the 60th Beanpot with a 3-1 win over Harvard on Feb. 6. Wade Megan scored two second-period goals, including the game-winner, and Kieran Millan stopped 29 shots to earn the fourth Beanpot victory of his career. Matt Nieto opened the scoring and Sean Escobedo and Sahir Gill earned two assists each. Nieto made sure BU got on the board first, striking at the 8:14 mark of the first period on a wraparound off an initial rush. Playing in his 100th career game, Megan took over the team s goal-scoring lead with his 13th and 14th markers of the season. Harvard held a advantage in shots and scored the final goal of the game when Alex Killorn converted on a power play at the bottom of the slot with 4:33 left in the second. TERRIERS EARN SERIES WIN VS. MERRIMACK (2/3) Thanks to two goals from Chris Connolly and a pair of 4-on-4 tallies in the middle period, Boston University defeated No. 4 Merrimack, 4-1, at a soldout Lawler Arena on Feb. 3. Kieran Millan made 28 saves to help BU take over sole possession of first in the Hockey East standings. Connolly added an assist for a three-point night and Matt Nieto tied a career high with three assists. Alex Chiasson registered a goal and an assist and Sahir Gill potted the eventual game-winner. With the win, the Terriers claimed their season series with the Warriors after splitting two earlier meetings at Agganis Arena. Connolly opened the scoring just 1:29 into the game with a wrister from the right circle following a give-and-go play with Nieto. BU s penalty kill was a perfect 5-for-5 in the second period and the Terriers got 4-on-4 goals from Gill and Chiasson in the stanza to extend their lead. The visitors took a 4-0 lead at the 14:29 mark of the third when Connolly scored four seconds into a BU power play. TERRIERS SWEPT BY MAINE (1/27-28) Boston University dropped its second contest to Maine in as many nights on Jan. 28, as the Black Bears held off the Terriers, 3-1, at Agganis Arena. On Friday, Alex Chiasson and Ross Gaudet each lit the lamp for the Terriers, but Maine scored twice in the third period to claim a 4-2 victory. After Maine opened the scoring in the closing seconds of the first period Saturday on a wrister from the right circle by John Parker, BU tied it up on a power-play goal by Garrett Noonan at 2:41 of the second. The Black Bears regained the lead soon after, however, on Nick Pryor s first collegiate goal at the 6-minute mark of the middle stanza. Maine added an empty-netter by Matt Mangene in the closing seconds to seal the victory and a weekend sweep of the Terriers. Both goaltenders turned in standout performances, as senior Kieran Millan stopped 34 shots for BU and sophomore Dan Sullivan earned the win with a 38-save effort. Despite being outshot, 21-8, in the opening period, BU held a shot advantage for the game. The Terriers went 1-of-5 on the power play and held the Black Bears scoreless on their first seven chances with the man advantage before the late empty-netter came on their eighth and final power play of the evening. Chiasson put BU ahead, 1-0, on Friday with a late first-period strike on the Terriers lone power-play chance of the evening. Maine scored twice in the second stanza to take a 2-1 lead, but Gaudet evened the score with 7:21 left in the period when he sent home a rebound from a tough angle along the left side. The Black Bears then took the lead for good with 9:51 left in the third frame when Mark Anthoine redirected the puck to the top of the net for the visitors second power-play goal of the night. A late empty-netter sealed the win, snapping BU s nation-best five-game win streak. Anthoine and Spencer Abbott each recorded goal and an assist for Maine, which won at Agganis during the regular season for the first time in 10 tries (1-7-2). BU BLANKS FRIARS, 8-0 (1/21) Thanks to a 6-of-9 effort on the power play, Boston University completed a weekend sweep of Providence with an 8-0 victory on Jan. 21 at Schneider Arena. Kieran Millan stopped all 26 shots he faced to earn his third shutout of the season and the eighth of his career. Wade Megan (2g, 2a) and Matt Nieto (1g, 3a) set career highs with four-point nights and Sahir Gill added a pair of goals. Max Nicastro notched a career-high three points (1g, 2a) as eight Terriers had multi-point efforts in the rout. BU scored three goals in both the first and second periods before adding its fifth and sixth power-play tallies of the game in the third to complete the scoring. The Terriers last scored six power-play goals in a game back on March 9, 1996, against Massachusetts in the Hockey East quarterfinals. BU hadn t achieved the feat in the regular season since Nov. 8, 1988, in a 12-3 home win against Providence. The result marked BU s most decisive shutout victory since Valentine s Day in 1994, when it posted an 8-0 win over Northeastern in the consolation game of the Beanpot. TERRIERS ROLL PAST FRIARS (1/20) Paced by four goals in the opening period, Boston University posted a 6-1 victory over visiting Providence at Agganis Arena on Jan. 20. BU got goals from six different players to help head coach Jack Parker earn his 400th win in Hockey East play. BU faced crosstown rival Northeastern five times in 10 days to end the season and lost the teams Hockey East quarterfinal series in three games. The Terriers finished 17th in the final USCHO.com national poll and received votes in the final USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine top-15 national poll. BU was the lone unbeaten team left in the country before falling at UNH on Nov. 19. The Terriers went undefeated in their first 10 games (6-0-4) for their best start in 33 seasons. BU reached the six-win mark on Oct. 30, 10 weeks earlier than it did in the season (Jan. 8). The Terriers held the top spot in both national polls on Nov. 8. After earning six wins in October, the Terriers went just afterwards, posting just one victory in both November and December. BU went in its final 11 Hockey East contests. In the Terriers last 18 games, 12 were decided by a single goal and two others were ties. BU missed the NCAA tournament in back-toback seasons for the first time since not qualifying for three straight years from gained sole possession of first place in the Hockey East standings. BU RALLIES FOR OT VICTORY AT HARVARD (1/15) Boston University used an overtime winner from Garrett Noonan to cap a rally from a 3-1 deficit and post a 4-3 win at Harvard on Jan. 15. Chris Connolly recorded his first two goals of the season and added an assist on the winner. Ben Rosen sent the game into overtime at 16:39 of the third with his first tally of the year. Noonan sent home a rebound following a shot by Connolly at 2:08 of overtime to end the game. The Terriers faced a 3-1 deficit for nearly 29 minutes before Connolly started the rally with his second tally of the night on a rebound at 8:41 of the third. Rosen s game-tying marker, which came on a scramble at the Harvard crease, was not awarded until a video replay showed the puck crossed the goal line right before goaltender Steve Michalek was able to cover it up. Alex Chiasson and Adam Clendening each registered three assists on the night. Chiasson s trio came on the final three goals of the contest. After giving up three first-period goals, Kieran Millan blanked the Crimson the rest of the way and turned in a 23-save performance. Harvard, which went 2-of-5 on its nation-best power play, got two goals from Alex Fallstrom and 30 saves from Michalek. TERRIERS RALLY PAST NORTHEASTERN (1/13) Faced with a 2-0 deficit after the first period, Boston University reeled off four straight goals and went on to post a 4-3 victory over Northeastern on Jan. 13 at Matthews Arena. Wade Megan scored two goals, including the game-winner, for the Terriers.. The Huskies opened the scoring with two goals in the final 1:22 of the first, but BU responded with a three-goal effort in the second before adding another tally in the third. Adam Clendening got things started for the Terriers with a goal from the right point at 8:23 of the second. Megan tied the game just 57 seconds later. Evan Rodrigues broke the 2-2 draw at 11:51 of the second on a power-play redirect for his first collegiate goal. Megan capped the run with another power-play goal 1:52 into the third. Skating on a late power play, the Huskies pulled goaltender Chris Rawlings for a 6-on-4 advantage and got within one on freshman Ludwig Karlsson s second goal of the night with 3:07 left in regulation. The Terriers held on, however, to secure the victory and snap Northeastern s eight-game unbeaten streak (7-0-1). Kieran Millan registered 31 saves for the Terriers, while Rawlings made 26 in goal for the Huskies. TERRIERS DOUBLE UP MERRIMACK (1/6 Paced by three goals in the opening period and a 42-save performance from Kieran Millan, Boston University posted a 4-2 victory over then-no. 7/6 Merrimack on Jan. 6 at Agganis Arena. The Terriers gave up an early goal before quickly erasing the deficit and taking the lead for good to move into first place in the league standings. BU was 2-of-4 on the power play. Ten different players recorded a point for the Terriers, who were led by Sahir Gill with a goal and an assist. Justin Courtnall and Alex Chiasson each found the back of the net mere seconds after Merrimack opened the scoring and freshman Alexx Privitera tallied the eventual game winner late in the first. Merrimack made it a 3-2 affair midway through the middle stanza. With the visitors posturing for a comeback, Gill came through with a big goal at 17:23 of the second to reestablish a two-goal lead for the Terriers. The Warriors flung everything they could at the BU net in the third, but Millan stopped all 20 shots he faced in the period to secure the triumph. Merrimack, which went 1-of-5 on the power play, held a advantage in shots for the game and got a 32-save effort from Cannata. ON NEW YEAR S EVE IN SOUTH BEND (12/31) Boston University opened the scoring late in the first period, but No. 5/6 Notre Dame reeled off five unanswered goals and came away with a 5-2 win at the Compton Family Ice Arena on New Year s Eve. BU, which was making its first-ever visit to South Bend, got goals from juniors Justin Courtnall and Wade Megan. Senior goaltender Kieran Millan stopped 29 Notre Dame shots on the night. Courtnall scored off a rebound with 1:33 left in the opening period to give the visitors a 1-0 lead entering the first intermission. Sophomore Cason Hohmann quickly won the draw and put the puck on net before Courtnall was there to cash in for his second goal of the year. Notre Dame quickly erased the deficit and took the lead in the second, scoring three goals in the first 7:09 of the middle stanza. The Irish, who went 2-of-9 on the power play and kept the Terriers scoreless on six chances with the man advantage, knotted the score on a power-play tally by Anders Lee at 1:12 of the second. Lee scored his second goal of the night 3:30 into the third and Billy Maday capped the five-goal run at 6:23 with a power-play tally. Faced with a 5-1 deficit, the Terriers scored shorthanded gwith 5:18 left. Megan broke up a play at the top the BU zone and then skated in before beating Steven Summerhays five-hole for his eighth goal of the season. BU held a shot advantage through two periods, but the Irish outshot the Terriers, 34-32, for the game, as Summerhays posted 30 saves. TERRIERS ROLL PAST MAINE (12/10) For the second time in three nights, Boston University picked up a come-from-behind victory on the road, as the Terriers defeated Maine, 5-1, on Dec. 10 at Alfond Arena. Sahir Gill recorded his first career two-goal game and with a 30-save performance, Kieran Millan picked up the win in goal and became BU s all-time leader in saves with 3,057, breaking the record set by Sean Fields 04 (3,055). Adam Clendening tallied a career-high three assists and Alexx Privitera added his first career goal. Maine opened the scoring with a power-play goal by Mark Anthoine at 8:02 of the second, but the Terriers reeled off five straight goals, including four in the third period, to roll to the victory. BU scored on back-to-back power-play chances to tie the game and then take the lead for good. The visitors capped their run with three goals in a span of under six minutes. The scoring was capped with 2:39 left in regulation when Gill scored a shorthanded empty-netter. Maine got a 26-save effort from Dan Sullivan. BU went 2-for-5 on the power play and Maine scored on one of its six chances with the man advantage. Each team put forth 31 shots.

7 BU FINISHES OFF UNH SWEEP (12/8) Corey Trivino and Wade Megan scored secondperiod goals and Kieran Millan recorded 28 saves to lead Boston University to a 2-1 comeback win over New Hampshire on Dec. 8 at the Whittemore Center. BU, which earned two home wins over UNH earlier this season, swept its Hockey East series with the Wildcats for the first time since the season. That was also the last time that UNH was swept by any team in league play. The Terriers outscored the Wildcats, 11-2, over this year s threegame series. UNH took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission, but the Terriers responded with a strong middle stanza and came away with the lead. Megan tied the game when finished off a 2-on-1 power-play rush with classmate Alex Chiasson at 4:54 of the second. The go-ahead goal was provided by Trivino as he took a pass from Sahir Gill and converted from the inside edge of the right circle. Gill collected the puck after a shot Chris Connolly bounced off the back boards and spotted Trivino all alone for the tally. The goal came just under three minutes after Megan got BU on the board. BU had just two power-play chances in the contest but used the latter to record the equalizer. The Terriers successfully killed off all five of UNH s opportunities with the man advantage. TERRIERS SPLIT WITH EAGLES (12/2-3) BU earned a home-and-home split against Boston College on Dec The road team won each contest and the Terriers claimed the season series with the Eagles thanks to a win in their first meeting. Led by a 42-save performance from Kieran Millan, BU posted a 5-3 road victory over BC on Dec. 2. Five different Terriers found the back of the net with Yasin Cisse and Cason Hohmann each recording his first collegiate goal. BU led the entire game and the Eagles were never within a single goal from the late stages of the first period on. The Eagles held a commanding shot advantage and each team recorded two power-play goals. The Terriers actually had more penalties than shots, as they were whistled for 17 minors on the night, giving the home team 11 chances with the man advantage. On Saturday, BU fell short in an attempt to sweep the season series and fell to the Eagles, 6-1, at Agganis Arena. A late first-period goal created a 1-1 deadlock heading into the first intermission, but the Eagles reeled off five straight tallies, including four in the middle stanza, to earn the win. Making only his second collegiate start, Brian Billett recorded 40 saves for the Eagles, which got goals from six different players. Millan made 17 saves and allowed five goals in two periods of work before classmate Grant Rollheiser took over for the third and stopped eight of the nine shots he faced. All seven of the game s markers came at even strength with two of BC s occurring on 4-on-4 situations. BU TRIUMPHS OVER CORNELL AT MSG (11/26) Ross Gaudet s goal with 2:12 remaining in overtime propelled Boston University past then-no. 17 Cornell, 2-1, on Nov. 26 in front of a sellout crowd of 18,200 at Madison Square Garden in the third installment of Red Hot Hockey. The junior forward s first goal of the season came from the slot on a nifty redirection of a Max Nicastro shot from the right point. The puck went off Gaudet s stick then between his legs before sailing above Cornell goaltender Andy Iles right shoulder to end the thriller. Adam Clendening also notched his first goal of the season to open the scoring at the 11:07 mark of the opening period. The Big Red forced overtime when senior Locke Jillson potted a rebound at the foot of the right circle with 8:54 left in the third. Kieran Millan made 23 saves, including a huge save in overtime, to earn his fifth win of the season. Cornell got a 25-save performance from Iles. BU extended its win streak to four games - its longest in over a year - and improved to all-time at Red Hot Hockey. The Big Red had its five-game win streak snapped. TERRIERS POST 4-1 WIN OVER UNH (11/19) Two goals in a span of 36 seconds in the third period broke a 1-1 tie and helped push Boston University past New Hampshire, 4-1, on Nov. 19 at Agganis Arena and snap the Wildcats seven-game unbeaten streak (5-0-2). Four different Terriers lit the lamp and Chris Connolly added a pair of assists in the victory. Kieran Millan made 33 saves, including 22 in the third period. The Terriers defeated UNH for the fourth straight meeting, their longest streak in the series since winning six straight from Nov. 11, 1995, to March 15, Wade Megan opened the scoring midway through the game with his sixth goal of the season. UNH tied the score, 1-1, with Trevor van Riemsdyk s first career goal at 5:05 of the third, but the Terriers wasted little time in regaining the lead. Just over two minutes later, Max Nicasto potted his first goal of the season to put BU on top once again. Moments after Nicastro s tally, Corey Trivino made it 3-1 thanks to a nifty pass from Connolly on a rush. Matt Nieto iced the game on a long empty-netter with 1:03 left. Matt Di Girolamo made 23 saves for the Wildcats, who held a 23-8 shot advantage in the third period. TERRIERS HOLD OFF VERMONT (11/18) Boston University broke a 2-2 tie with a pair of second-period tallies and went to post a 4-3 victory over Vermont on Nov. 18 at Agganis Arena. The visiting Catamounts scored 5:27 into the game, but the Terriers responded with two goals 79 seconds apart from Corey Trivino and Charlie Coyle to take a 2-1 lead midway through the opening stanza. After Vermont s Kyle Reynolds made it a 2-2 contest early on in the second, Wade Megan scored his third goal in the past two games to allow the Terriers to regain the lead. With BU s second powerplay goal of the night, Garrett Noonan made it a 4-2 affair at 16:34 of the middle frame. The Catamounts doubled up the Terriers in shots in the third (14-7) and Sebastian Stalberg scored a power-play goal to get Vermont within one at 4-3 with 3:18 left. Vermont pulled goaltender Rob Madore for the final 1:42, but the Terriers held on to get back over.500 both overall and in league play. TERRIERS MAKE STATEMENT IN WIN AT BC (11/13) Boston University put forth an impressive showing on Nov. 13, rolling past Boston College, 5-0, at Conte Forum in their first meeting of the season. 8 Kieran Millan stopped all 21 shots he faced to help BU earn its first shutout against the Eagles since Cleon Daskalakis backstopped the Terriers to a 3-0 win on March 1, 1983, when the teams were still part of the ECAC. The Terriers got goals from four different forwards - including two from Wade Megan in the first multigoal game of his career - and converted on two of their five power-play chances while posting a perfect 8-for-8 performance on the penalty kill. The Terriers scored in the first and final minutes of the opening stanza, opening the scoring 54 seconds in before Megan potted his first goal of the contest at 19:13 on the visitors first power-play chance. BU doubled its advantage in the second period, starting with another power-play tally at the 9:58 mark off a one-timer by Alex Chiasson. Matt Nieto made it a 4-0 affair when he tallied his seventh goal of the season with 4:17 left in the middle period. BC got a late power-play chance but Megan spoiled the opportunity with a shorthanded tally with 1:38 left in regulation. The victory was the most decisive for the Terriers against their crosstown rival since a 10-3 triumph at Walter Brown Arena on Jan. 13, BU entered the game on a five-game losing streak against BC, its longest in the series since MERRIMACK STEALS OT VICTORY AT BU (11/11) Despite holding a 2-1 lead for nearly 43 minutes, Boston University suffered a 3-2 overtime loss to No. 4/6 Merrimack on Nov. 11 at Agganis Arena. Merrimack earned a late power-play chance, pulled its goalie and then scored with the 6-on-4 advantage with 1:56 left in the third period to force overtime. Just 22 seconds into the extra session, freshman Connor Toomey potted the gamewinner for the Warriors on a redirect from the left circle. The Terriers erased an early 1-0 deficit with a pair of first-period tallies. Garrett Noonan tied the game with a power-play strike at the 11:40 mark of the period. Justin Courtnall recorded his first goal of the season with 2:47 left in the frame to give the home team the lead. Joe Cannata recorded 36 saves for the Warriors, stopping the final 25 shots he faced. For BU, Kieran Millan tallied 27 saves and held the visitors scoreless for a stretch of 52:42 before they stole the game in the late stages. The Terriers outshot Merrimack, 38-30, but were only 1-of-9 on the power play. TERRIERS TOP UMASS IN OT THRILLER (10/29) Matt Nieto scored 3:17 into overtime to lead Boston University to a thrilling 5-4 win against Massachusetts on Oct. 29 at Agganis Arena. The Terriers, who were faced with a 3-0 deficit after the opening period, took three out of four points in their weekend home-and-home series with the Minutemen. After UMass took a 3-0 lead into the first intermission, the Terriers scored twice in the second period before tying the game on a shorthanded goal by Charlie Coyle at 9:51 of the third. Corey Trivino made it four unanswered goals for the Terriers when he scored less than two minutes later to give BU a 4-3 lead. UMass second power-play tally with 5:05 left in regulation forced overtime, but Nieto provided the heroics when he scored for the eighth straight game. His winner came from the top of the right circle following a cross-slot pass by Coyle on a BU power play. Nieto also assisted on the game-tying and goahead goals to turn in a three-point night. Coyle, Trivino and Sahir Gill each recorded a goal and an assist while Evan Rodrigues earned his first two collegiate points with a pair of assists. Garrett Noonan kickstarted the comeback with his second goal of the year. In his first start of the season, Grant Rollheiser recorded 29 saves to pick up the victory. Jeff Teglia stopped 34 BU shots for the Minutemen. BU RALLIES FOR DRAW IN AMHERST (10/28) Boston University used goals from Matt Nieto and Sahir Gill to erase a 2-0 deficit and come away with a 2-2 draw at Massachusetts on Oct. 28 at the Mullins Center UMass scored a power-play goal in the final minute of the opening period and made it 2-0 just 6:08 into the middle stanza. Nieto scored for the fifth straight game with 4:15 left in the second and then assisted on a goal by Gill that knotted the contest at 5:16 of the third and forced overtime. Charlie Coyle picked up assists on both tallies. Kieran Millan recorded 33 saves for the Terriers and stopped the final 22 shots he faced to allow BU to draw even. Kevin Boyle recorded 21 saves for the Minutemen. BU went 0-for-4 on the power play and UMass was 1-of-6 with the man advantage, although its second goal occurred just three seconds after a BU penalty expired. TERRIERS TRIPPED UP BY HOLY CROSS, 5-4 (10/22) Boston University suffered a 5-4 loss at the hands of Holy Cross on Oct. 22 at Agganis Arena. Alex Chiasson tallied two goals and an assist for the Terriers. Matt Nieto scored a goal and added an assist while Sahir Gill potted his first goal of the season. Corey Trivino and Charlie Coyle each registered a pair of assists. After giving up an early goal, BU scored two 40 seconds apart to take the lead. The Crusaders responded with four straight goals, including three on the power play, to jump out to a 5-2 advantage. The Terriers tried to rally back with two thirdperiod goals, but it was too little, too late, and the Crusaders escaped with the victory. Holy Cross was paced by Adam Schmidt who helped the visitors take the lead for good with the first two tallies of the four-goal run. Andrew Cox contributed three points (1g, 2a). Each team recorded 31 shots on the evening, as Kieran Millan made 26 saves for the Terriers and Matt Ginn stopped 27 BU shots in goal for the Crusaders. The Crusaders took advantage of BU penalties throughout the night, going 3-of-6 on the power play. The Terriers (0-for-3) were held without a power-play goal for the first time this year. BU HOLDS OFF #3 DENVER (10/15) Boston University held off a third-period Denver rally to post a 4-3 victory over the third-ranked Pioneers on Oct. 15 at Agganis Arena. Four different Terriers found the back of the net to help the home team build a 4-0 lead through two periods before the Pioneers scored a trio of goals and threatened to tie in the closing minutes. Kieran Millan recorded 35 saves and earned his 63rd career victory to become the winningest goaltender in BU history. After Alex Chiasson scored the lone goal of the first period on a breakaway, the Terriers extended their lead with three goals in the first three minutes of the second period. Corey Trivino and Matt Nieto recorded shorthanded goals 43 seconds apart early in the middle stanza. It was the first career shorthanded goal for both players. Wade Megan backhanded a deflected puck past Denver netminder Adam Murray at 2:58 of the second on a power play to complete the spurt and push the Terriers lead to 4-0. The Pioneers eventually solved Millan and the BU defense when Luke Salazar scored at 6:01 of the third. John Lee made it a 4-2 game when he scored from the blue line at the 13:09 mark. With Murray pulled, the Pioneers made it a onegoal affair when Drew Shore knocked in a rebound with 2:21 left in regulation. Denver continued its late barrage in search of an equalizer, but the Terriers hung to claim an important non-conference win. The Pioneers held a slim advantage in shots and got a 33-save performance from Murray. BU went 1-of-7 on the power play and successfully killed off all six of Denver s chances with the man advantage. TERRIERS FALL SHORT AT PROVIDENCE (10/14) Boston University erased an early 3-0 deficit, but Providence regained the lead and posted a 5-3 victory on Oct. 14 at Schneider Arena. Down 3-0 entering the second period, the Terriers got two goals in the middle stanza before Garrett Noonan completed the comeback with a marker just 3:13 into the third. PC, however, regrouped and used a power play to regain the lead at 4-3 at 5:42 of the third before adding another tally just over five minutes later. Kieran Millan recorded 25 saves for the Terriers, who went 1-of-6 on the power play. The Friars also converted on one of six power-play chances and got a 23-save performance from Alex Beaudry. The Friars, who were playing in their season opener under first-year head coach Nate Leaman, scored twice within a span of 34 seconds in the opening minutes and then tacked on another with 3:36 left in opening frame. BU SHUTS OUT UNH IN SEASON OPENER (10/8) Backed by a 35-save shutout from Kieran Millan, Boston University opened its campaign with a 5-0 victory over then-no. 12 New Hampshire on Oct. 8 at Agganis Arena. It marked the first season-opening shutout by the Terriers since a 6-0 win over RPI in The Terriers broke a scoreless tie early in the second with goals by Wade Megan and Corey Trivino. Matt Nieto, Alex Chiasson and Kevin Gilroy all tacked on third-period goals to complete the scoring. Chris Connolly and Charlie Coyle and Sahir Gill each recorded two assists. With his performance, Millan recorded his 62nd career victory at BU to tie the program record held by Sean Fields 04. It was the sixth shutout of his career.

Has two daughters, Allison and Jacqueline, and three grandsons, Jake, Shane and Ryan. Former president of the American Hockey Coaches Association. Former member of the NCAA Ice Hockey Committee. ON THE ICE A sparkplug at center for the Terrier varsity teams that combined for a record, he played on three Beanpot championship teams and in two NCAA tournaments (1966 fourth-place finish, 1967 second-place finish). Captained the team his senior year and was named recipient of the Bennett McInnis Award for Spirit. Had 14 goals and 11 assists that year. Highly regarded scholastic center who was MVP of the Catholic Memorial team his senior year. ON THE BENCH Enters the weekend with an overall record of for a.647 winning percentage. His 870 wins mark the most of any college hockey coach at the same institution, while he ranks second among active coaches in wins and fourth in winning percentage. Prior to his being elevated to the top position, he served as the Terriers B-team coach for one year. Began his coaching career right out of college at Medford High School. After one year, he returned to his alma mater to serve as an assistant under his former mentor, Jack Kelley. He worked in that capacity for three years before being elevated to the B-team post in the fall of Was head coach of the U.S. National Junior Team at the 1996 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship. ON THE WALL Has received countless honors, including the Spencer Penrose Memorial Trophy as the NCAA Coach of the Year three times. The first was in 1975, when he guided his first team to a mark, the best major college record in the nation. He also earned the award after guiding the team to a 30-2 record and the NCAA title. Most recently, Parker earned the honor for the third time after leading the Terriers to the NCAA title and a record during the season. Named a recipient of the NHL s Lester Patrick Award (2010). PLAYER RECOGNITION Since 1976, 23 of his players have played in the Olympics. The streak began when Dick Lamby played for the 1976 U.S. Team in Innsbruck, Austria. Certainly, one of Parker s proudest moments came in 1980 when former Terriers Mike Eruzione, Dave Silk, Jack O Callahan and Jim Craig were on the U.S. Olympic Hockey Team that won the gold medal. The most veteran Olympian is Keith Tkachuk, who played in his fourth Olympiad in Scott Young made his third Olympic appearance in 2002 and Chris Drury has been on each of the last three U.S. Olympic Teams. Former BU standout Rick DiPietro was on the 2006 team and Ryan Whitney made his Olympic debut in Two of his players, center John Cullen and defenseman Peter Ahola, were named to the Hockey East AllDecade Team of the 1980s. Five of his players were named to the ECAC All-Decade Team of the 1970s. They were Rick Meagher, Eruzione, Vic Stanfield, Peter Brown and Craig. One of his players, Cleon Daskalakis, was selected to the ECAC All-Decade Team of the 1980s. Drury was selected to Hockey East s All-Decade Team of the 1990s and defenseman Matt Gilroy was named to the league s All-Decade Team of the 2000s.
