Mavericks at Home Friday, Feb. 29 vs. US NDTP, 7:05 p.m. CST The Games The Mavericks host the under-18 National Development Team Friday, Feb. 29 at the Qwest Center at 7:05 p.m. CST. UNO will honor those in the Military with discounted tickets and the team will auction of special jerseys. The benefit was organized by junior goalie Jerad to honor his friend Bryan Mc- Donough, a Minnesota native who was killed while serving in Iraq in Media Coverage The game will be broadcast on KKAR, 1290 AM, with the pre-game show beginning 30 minutes before face-off. Greg Harrington will call the action, with Terry Leahy providing color commentary. The Records The Mavericks are overall and in the CCHA. The U-18 US NDTP is against D-I collegiate teams this season and overall. The Coach UNO head coach Mike Kemp brings a overall record into this weekend. Kemp, UNO s only head coach in 11 seasons, is in the CCHA. The Series The Mavericks have never played against the U-18 US NDTP before. Last Week The Mavericks were swept by Northern Michigan 6-4 and the overtime upset of 4-3. Mick Lawrence became the fifth Maverick to score 20 goals in a season Saturday night and also recorded his 100th career point with his power-play goal. Tuesday night UNO completed the sweep of Minnesota State with a 4-2 victory in Mankato. The MSU Mavericks are currently ranked No. 9 in the USCHO.com/CSTV weekly poll. Coming up UNO will host either Lake Superior State or Alaska in the first round of the CCHA play-offs at the Qwest Center Omaha. The dates for the best-of-three series are Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, March 6, 8-9. All games will start at 7:05 p.m. CST. Playoff Tickets Playoff tickets for Thursday and Saturday will go on sale Monday at 10 a.m. The CCHA has set the prices for the tickets at $16 for adult lower bowl seats, $13 for upper bowl and $9 for ages 3 through college. Maverick Notes... Senior forward Brandon Scero became only the eighth UNO player to record 100 points Jan. 19, The top-senior line for UNO consists of three of the ten all-time scoring leaders for the Mavericks. Marshall is second with 150 points, Scero is sixth with 111 and Lawrence is ninth with 101. Senior forward Mick Lawrence leads the team with 21 goals and 15 power-play goals holding a new record for pp goals in a single season. The 15 power-play goals ties Michigan s Kevin Porter for first in the nation. Lawrence netted his 100th career point Feb. 23 at Northern Michigan. He is the ninth UNO player to reach the milestone and the fifth Mav to net 20 plus goals in a season and 50 career goals. Dan Charleston leads the team with 117 shots, following close behind is Mick Lawrence with 105. The Mavericks are second in power play efficiency at 24.5 percent to Sacred Heart s The turnout of 10,598 fans to watch UNO play Ohio State broke the school record crowd of 10,415, set Feb. 12, 2005 against Michigan. The crowd also pushed UNO to 118,866 for the year for 18 dates, an average of 6,604. Eddie Del Grosso has been named CCHA Defensive POW twice in the past four weeks (1/20, 2/11).
